Krikos: The Vertical Horizon Page 15

The gravest frights of the warriors had come true. But these horrors further intensified with the cruel reaction of the public, who rather seemed to enjoy the apparent decapitation of the ‘Traitors’. They had sought such presentations since long, rather discreetly longed for it lustfully.

Then suddenly, a beacon call was heard in the Holocron watch of Kridious.

Wiping the sadness off his face, Kridious accepted the call “Rambler?”

“Sir…. Everything… It is everything… he didn't die for nothing, sir. He did it.”

“What? Who… Hoko? He shouldn’t have…. I didn’t want to see him d…. As such... I know he stopped the H.T. . . . As if we were ever going to find why.”, said Kridious

“Sir… no not that. Not that only. He did it. Code Lattice sir. He cracked it, sir.”

  “What?”

“Yes, sir… and he also did something to Mrew.”

  “You met?”

  “Yes, sir… Just yesterday…. and...”

“No time for chats…. Where are you?”, Kridious asked.

“I am at Solaris interior Terminal. You must come and see this sir. You must.”

“Be safe till I reach. You know the drill…”, Kridious said.

“You too sir. I apologize for saying this, but the military stronghold requires a lot of subtlety of movement to avoid suspicion,” Rambler said.

“The time for subtlety is gone…” Kridious said, pressing a few virtual keys on his watch-pad, summoning his huge hover-bike. It grabbed a lot of public and personnel attention. Kridious, intentionally oblivious to it all, throttled away at multiples of sonic speeds.

  Diaries of Flex:

  Episode 13-

  The Star Eater.

Stars are the natural illuminators of the universe. In classical mythological legends, stars have been represented by the most ultimate of Gods. For example – Epilion the star of hope, Apollo the star of knowledge and dawn, Surya the star of life, Deus(Krydon) the star of creation, Helios the king of the stars, and finally… the Krikos, the star of Twilight, or the star of the end. Many refer to it as the star of new beginnings. But Krikos was not the star of new beginnings. Not at all. The Stillites rather not even believed it to be a star. According to them, Krikos was the name given to the one who defeated Helios in battle. In technical terms, Krikos was the one who destroyed Helios. And if the king falls, so does the kingdom. So Krikos might also be referred to as the Star Destroyer. In catchier and more preferable terms, it can be called the Star Eater.

ork, the abomination instilled in mankind. Sometimes I really wish to curse it. It was mid of Allori in 398 E.E. . . . The year had been already very rough, and towards its end, the friction had expanded to an unbearable extent. And just like always, I had been working. It took half a year to deduce Flex’s work on Translational Duplicity. But I was also a physicist in the Federation. Oh yes! The Federation. One of the few unofficial groups dedicated to science. The credits were handsome. Why wouldn’t one want to ‘work’ there? Well! I’d tell you why. There are limits to a man, especially me. But their work was limitless. Make blueprints, prepare algorithms, simplify machinery, collaborate theories to form a sleeker one, and more. I am not greedy for money, but the life in the Federation was just too awesome to be abandoned. In today’s time, people measure their level of achievements in the units of money earned per unit time. So, do I. So, I couldn’t have left a job of recognition with no leads towards another one. So, I worked and worked day and night in both personal and professional offices. As if I was not already physically weak that my abstemious ingestion debilitated my condition. I was not going to quit, but my professional counsellor proposed my medical leave to the federation board. So, I was on a leave for two months, sitting aimlessly and staring point blank into the colourless frame of my door. In clear deference to the counsellor, I was not working. I thought that working doesn’t mean reading. I had the complete right to read the Dusty book. I was anxious to fathom into the mysteries of the book. So, I went to my desk and opened the side cabinet to fetch the book. There it was. Lying indefatigably and indifferent to the mundane activities with hardly a tantamount in the Universe. I don’t know if it was me or my medicine induced intoxication, but that book just seemed as to be giving out the light of knowledge. It seemed to radiate a light brighter than the stars. It seemed to be a symbol of illumination, and you are going to very well acquiesce with me on this subject. I opened it to reach an unacquainted page.

Life is a nefarious hoax cloaking sanity with the delinquent want and the reticent need. The reality is evanescent in the holographic light of success. I don’t seek to exemplify my life or my words. A revered anecdote shall quell my thirst.

The Universe was a capricious Creation. One can never tell when one encounters another amusing irregularity. There are Galaxies and stars so very large. But the human mind is large enough to comprehend and create an imagery of what the Universe presents us with. If we overlook these irregularities, we reckon with the aesthetic nature of the Universe. Most of us do overlook them. Our minds are mostly occupied by the process of achieving, refuting and debunking. But if we look into them, we may find that these irregularities are the ones which actually coalesce to form the Universe. This Universe of irregularities offers us a chance. A chance to work and find. If everything was already normal, then there wouldn’t ever be a need for solutions…A need for jobs. Also, if everything was already normal, then there would be no humans, leave it be jobs. There are certain irregularities we know of; like Stars, Galaxies, Nebulas, Gravity Waves, Dark Matter, Dark energy etc. and there were those we don’t know. Stars form the core of them all. These irregularities cause a deterrence for the Universe to achieve its ideality and originality, that is zero space. All this can be achieved by ending stars. How can a big ball of mass with an infinite amount of energy be ended? With a bigger ball of mass which needs multiples of that infinite amount just to rotate or revolve. This new mass may be called a Star Eater.

Imaginations reflect impotence when such a possibility is brought to thought. A mass which eats stars? ….. Is fuelled by stars? In reality, such masses are possible with anti-thermo reactors and heat extraction modules. They work on the basic theories of Solar Extraction. Such masses may be equipped with the Hexurion Capacitors and Spherical thrust modules for proper distribution and centralization of the mass within. The spherical thrust, thus provided, would enable such a device to rotate and revolve freely. The extracted energy may be utilised to power up the mass along with Heavy Locomotive Thrust. The outer exhaust chimneys also would provide such a mass with motion-based thrust. The first prototype blueprints have been tagged along.

I took a pause for a moment to take a sneak at what the blueprints had to give. I opened the folded paper and saw a large Geometric Diagram of a part of a Sphere. I could actually see the machinery he specified for the ‘star eater’. But, I didn’t get his intentions. Why waste time and money on such a thing? My question was answered immediately when I turned back to the diary.

Sabrink … Don’t get too occupied with my diagrams. You know they are correct. You must be thinking ‘what is the need of a Star Eater?’ You used to ask me about my thoughts on life, the universe, and everything. Well, I have the answer in the form of this Device. You have heard the theory of Tubular Gravity. If not let me elucidate- “Inside a ring tube, Gravity acts towards a virtual line starting at the centroid of the circular cross-section, right up to the vertical perpendicular limit, and then changes its direction angularly as you circumnavigate along the circumference of the hypothetical circle of the cross-section.” Imagine a similar tube but with decentralised gravity. That is a phase shift in gravitational force toward the inner material limit of the tube. The development of artificial gravitation chambers in the rehabilitation project comes to the cause. If we create a similar polarity in the radiator than to the star in the cell, the star’s gravity will be decentralised and n
ew gravitation poles may be created tangential to the inner base. This will create a new mass with the habitable surface area a hundred thousand times or larger than that of the earth itself. After achieving adequate gravity levels, rehabilitation becomes easy. This new mass shall be the new ‘hope’ for mankind.

“Wait a second ... HOPE… MANKIND …. FLEX…. IS THIS THE RIGHT BOOK?” I said to myself.

Sabrink, you must be experiencing momentary ambiguity... Remove them from your mind and think about what needs to be done rather than what has already been done. For time is a greedy bastard. It takes away everything. My race with time shall be inherited by you. As I told you before, you must read my documentation to its end. That end shall mark your beginning. As many other historical materials of importance which you might refer to, you shall do so, for the time needs a conjunction of all times. I have given the first chart of the star eater, and you shall await more. It is a powerful object of the mind’s creation. As to calling it a Star Eater, if you think it’s too abstract or immature or non-theoretical to call it that, I have come up with a name. The Hexagon way of christening Is finding a metaphorical resonance with any mythological devices and naming it accordingly. So, I tried to follow the monotonous methodical process and I could come up with only one object of Holy mythology which could parallel the imagery of the star-eater in my mind. Krikos. The new beginning for them and also for me. It shall be what you seek currently. It shall be the answer to all.

The answer to all. The new beginning. The Krikos. There were just too many thoughts to reckon with, and it lead me to a dilemmatic corner. And it was not like Flex’s usual records. This time, it seemed as if he actually cared about the status of the world. But this was not my greatest concern. Flex was quoting me in each line as if he knew the future; as if he knew he was going to be dead. His writings also seemed as if directed towards a posthumous society. It was not just a concern, but a thought which frightened me to the core. He asked me to read the book to its end. He declared his thoughts against the popular belief of necessity and invention. He then declared a contradictory thought and asked me to righteously differentiate between urge and need, and know the correct time. The correct time for what? What did he want to tell me? Moreover, what did he want me to bloody do? I mean it was Flex D’Dustener I was dealing with. He couldn’t have just given away his creation to those he scorned. All this confounded me and compelled me to close the book, and I thought of taking a power nap. I lay down on the bed trying to control the whirlwind of thoughts in my mind. Just before I went to sleep I said to myself – “Krikos. The new beginning. The answer to all. IS IT?”

one of them? …. Tried to trace them back to their beacons?” said Councillor Victor Trampulus to one of his officials through his personal Holocron beacon device.

“We tried everything, sir.” The formal hesitant reply came.

“Just when we were about to settle the matter with the servers. As such we are running about 4 weeks behind schedule and they had to disappear. I don’t trust them. I don’t trust any one of them, leave them being united. Make the security services tighter. And protect the royal armoury. They will need their weapons if anything. Without them they are nothing. Start pursuing them. And yes... declare their hostility... NOW.”

The Visi Screen displayed the Hexagon warning symbol and announced-

‘It has been officially declared under the political and mass treason law of Royal Penal Code that all those who went on the exploration mission are now outlaws, and are to be arrested immediately. Anyone who sees, hears or comes to know of any one of these- Krawn Xanethius

Must report to the nearby Hexagon local security department immediately. It has corroborated that they were involved in the acts of treason of one Verdo Hoko and one Mira Quwou. Anyone who helps them or provides aid to them with or without even the slightest hint of their identity is to be treated just like them. A level 5 emergency is hereby declared and all places dealing with articles usable as weapons are to be closed down starting this very minute. We are working for your own security and seek your full co-operation. Thank you and wish you a good day.’

The people startled due to the immediate call for emergency. But their actions and the negligence in their eyes displayed the undying trust for the Eutopium, which in their eyes was irrefutable. They acted according to the given instructions. Talks started around about the unexpected betrayal by the Xanethius. They started talking about how he had disgraced them, how all of them had disgraced the people and the Eutopium. But the Hypothetical Observer knew that it was more the other way around.

  The Hexagon warning systems started.

“WHAT WAS THAT?” the Second Speaker Venzo Daniels shouted.

“Sir… there is some security breach at the central armoury.”

  “WHAT... NOW… ALREADY?” Victor shouted.

“We have picked up one face. It was Officer Rush Demilzo Sir.” A Hexagon associate told them.

“And it had to be an Iconoclastic hunter scum. Get him now… Right now, he is a big threat. But he is nothing without a gun. Don’t let him have one.” Victor Commanded.

“Wait my hon’ble fellow councillor. Patience. If you know anything about Rush, then you know that out of all the people… he should’ve been the last one on the Krikos to have been IDied back through the Security Surveillance. I don’t think it is a thing to be ignored that he is the emperor of all the Undercover Ops. on this Humungous mass,” Said Councillor Redso Visi.

“You underestimate the yet prevalent honour and the ability of the Royal Staff my friend. Just see through your very own eyes. I shall myself see to it that this … whatever it is… ends here.”

The Royal security was ordered to go after the Trojan party that was Rush.

  A few minutes later.

  “We have him cornered Sir.”

  “Has he submitted?” Victor inquired.

  “No… Not yet sir.”

“Then keep your guard on. What is he doing? Where are the Surveillance cams?”

The static on the Visi screen was destroyed by the picture of Rush standing around the corner of a pillar near the reception. Then he raised his hands up slowly. As soon as he did, the screen, as well as all other transmitters, turned static again.

“Hey… where are you? Where is he? What just happened?” Victor shouted as the other councillors perspired in curiosity.

The Flex technical assistants came and tried their best to fix up the Frequency and base terminal, and found a little voice modulation in the speakers which somewhat seemed like- “Sir…… put down... unarmed…… surrounded…… lost much ground……. blocked………help.”

“What is that supposed to mean? What is happening out there? Send back up there. Send the best… We are going to take this Rush fellow along with whoever is out there. And we’re going to take them head on” Victor said.

The Royal Military staff commandos reached the location. Their Commander kept permanent contact with Victor Trampulus to send first-hand feedback. They scouted through the reception area as well as other rooms in the outer zone of the armoury only to find nothing. Then they slowly moved to the core region where the Magnus Weapons were always stored and secured.

“There is no one here Sir. And the weapons are safe. They ran away Sir. But I find many injured here. But no casualties.”

Then suddenly another Hexagon alarm went off.

“What now? Hey, Commander…. You there?” Victor spoke up in a worried tone.

“Yes, Sir… everything safe…………” The signal went static again.

“What the…,” Victor screamed as he saw a report of another Infringement at the Ganymede Doom Prison.

“That can’t be… It’s the place where that E.T. has been kept.” Hexagon Commander Councillor Denso Well spoke up in worry.

“WHAT!!!” Dragomir Lunarte finally started to take part in the important conversation.

  “Who is it?” Denso asked.

“Sir… We still don’t have eyes on him… wait sir… it seems like… yes, sir. It is confirmed. It is Officer Walter Hex. He seems unarmed Sir... Should we………” that signal also went static.

“What… not again…. What is happening in this bloody universe?” Victor said in frustration.
