“I’m an Irish beauty now, am I? You must really love me.”
I squealed when he yanked me into his lap and wrapped his arms around me, holding me close.
“I really do love you, Margo. Your fighting spirit and that smart fucking mouth of yours. God, I really love that mouth of yours.” He pressed a firm, greedy kiss to my lips until I moaned.
“I love that you never give up fighting even when you probably should. I love that you’re crazy enough to risk getting your ass kicked to help me and my family. I love how big your heart is.”
I snorted. “It’s not that big. You’re the only one in it.”
He smiled at my words and kissed my neck.
“That’s not true. Your father is in there too. That’s why I love you the most Margo, your open fucking heart. Somehow me and your dad, two unworthy bastards, managed to snag a piece of your heart against your better judgment.”
I snorted again at that because it was, in my opinion, my least endearing quality.
“You saw beneath the mask, beneath the job and found a way to love the men underneath. That’s a rare gift, Margo, and I want you to know. No, I need you to know, that I’ll work every goddamn day of my life to make sure I’m worthy of that love. I promise.”
Oh shit, I was screwed. Totally fucking screwed. Tears welled in my eyes, and I refused to let them fall, refused to be the blubbering mess of a woman when her man said he loved her but it was a hard battle.
“Rourke.”
“I mean it, Margo. Every. Fucking. Day.”
God help me, but I really believed that Rourke would make sure no day passed without making sure I was happy to love him. But, “No.”
He froze underneath me, and I looked at him straight in his eyes. I cupped his face to make sure he was looking right at me. Nowhere but at me.
“You won’t even consider it?” he asked mournfully.
“I don’t need to because I’m in love with you too, Rourke. But I don’t need you to prove that you’re worthy of me because you have, in a million ways since the day we met.”
He arched a brow. “Even when I kidnapped you?”
“Even then. I’m still pissed about it, but I know you thought you were helping, which is why I love you, too. You’d rather have me safe and hate you than dead, and I kind of dig that about you.”
“Kind of?” His brows rose again, and I laughed, pressing a soft kiss to his mouth.
“Yeah, you’re still a work in progress. So are we.”
“We?” The hope in his eyes nearly stole my breath. He wanted this as much as I did and he was just as afraid that we’d find a way to fuck it up.
“You can cope with me being who I am? Doing what I do?”
I nodded. “I might develop an unhealthy dependence on alcohol, but I’ll find a way to be okay with it. But you have to promise me one thing.”
“Anything.”
“Every fucking night from now until one of us is six feet under, you have to promise that you’ll come back to me. Wherever you are, whatever you have to do and whoever you have to go through, you will to get back to me. To us.”
I didn’t know if I’d be any good at loving a guy like Rourke because I wasn’t sure my heart could take another loss like my mom and my brother. Losing Rourke would kill me and take what was left of my heart with him.
“Promise me.”
“Margo I will always come home to you. Always.”
“I love you, Rourke. More than I ever thought I could love another person.”
He grinned and held me tighter. “You’re mine now, Margo.”
“And you’re mine. Don’t forget it.”
“Not in a million years,” he promised, breathing into my hair and warming my skin. “Now that I have you, I’m never letting you go.”
“Sounds like a good start.” It sounded like everything I ever wanted but had convinced myself I couldn’t have. I looked at Rourke and smiled, making sure he knew that he held my heart, my love, my trust in his hands. Then, because I couldn’t resist this fine man of mine, I kissed him.
I knew loving him wouldn’t be easy, and I wanted to protect him as fiercely as he wanted to protect me, which meant we were looking at a future filled with loud disagreements, shouting and plenty of make-up sex.
“What are you thinking about with that smile?”
“I was thinking about all the make-up sex we’ll have over the years.”
He laughed and pulled me in his arms before carrying me upstairs to my bedroom.
Rourke laid me down on the bed. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yes, stop worrying. It’s not the first time I’ve had a black eye.”
“I should have killed that motherfucker,” he said and blew out a sigh.
“You should stop thinking about him and think about make-up sex.” I giggled.
“I’m all about the make-up sex, but I think we should practice quiet sex. For when the kids come.”
My eye opened wider. “Fuck. You want kids?”
“Hell yeah, baby. All the kids.”
I sucked in a breath at his words, shocked, surprised but happy. I wanted kids too. Lots of them. I could see it all so clearly in my mind. Rourke holding my hand, guiding me down the street because my pregnant body had screwed up my equilibrium. Rourke encouraging me through the birth of each of our children. Soccer games. Dance recitals. Barbecues at Patrick’s monstrous mansion.
“You know, I can be verrrry quiet,” I whispered and pulled him toward me, kissing him slow and sultry.
“Show me,” he whispered. A challenge burned in his eyes. I laughed and looked up at him with my one good eye.
“Hell yeah, I’ll show you.” I said and curled my fingers around his cock. “Challenge accepted.”
No matter what happened from now until the day I died, I knew our future together was going to be exciting, sexy, scary and brighter than the goddamn desert sun.

Roc Hard
I never thought I’d fall for the billionaire, but his cool-blue eyes and sexy swagger drew me to him like a moth to a flame. Okay, inferno.
He was my first and so far, had been my last—my only.
Once I found out I’d been played, I high tailed it out of there and moved as far away as I could. He didn’t need to know. I didn’t need him, or his money.
Jerk.
Not only did he take my virginity, break my heart and stomp all over it, he gave me a baby as well.
How could I be so stupid?
And why the hell did he just walk into my office and tell me he now owns the posh resort I work at?
I fell for the billionaire once—this time will be different.
