The clock on the wall became our enemy. One last night together before he sent me away and went to war. After I put the plates in the sink, I straddled his legs with mine and wrapped my arms around his neck. “Love me tonight,” I whispered.
If all I had to sustain me until he returned to claim me was tonight, then I wanted to make the most of every minute of it and spend it in his arms.
Ash carried me up the stairs to our bedroom—it was the place I felt safest in the world. Not my room in Tuscany, right here with Ash beside me.
He kissed me like I was the oxygen he needed to survive. All night we made love over and over again until the light crept in through the window to illuminate our bodies moving as one. I’d lost count of the orgasms and neither of us could sleep, each trying to cram as many memories as possible into one night because tomorrow we had to pretend to be nothing more than acquaintances.
Ash stopped to stare down at me, his eyes filled with too many emotions because we were both starting to fall to pieces. “If there was any other way, you know I’d keep you here.”
I framed his face with my hands. “I don’t care who you have to kill to survive, you need to come back to me in one piece, Ash.”
“How can I when you’re walking away with my heart?”
I pushed his shoulders until he rolled onto his back with me straddling his hips. My forehead pressed into his. “I love you, Ash. Remember that when everything gets dark. I love you.”
His lips found mine even as my tears escaped and rolled down my cheeks.
My hips moved up and down as we wrapped ourselves around each other. I would never survive in a world without him beside me, but each of us had our roles to play. My back arched and his lips trailed down my throat even as I screamed my release. His cock thickened and he filled me again. We were both covered in his cum and had enough DNA on us to be considered a crime scene.
My phone rang at ten the next morning. I was already dressed in the clothes I’d left in the hamper that Ash had laundered. He stood silently beside the sink in the kitchen watching me.
“Hey, Papa.”
“Lucrezia, I’m on my way to London. I think we need to talk.” A tear slipped down my cheek and Ash was beside me in an instant, wiping it away.
“What about, Papa?”
“You are all over the internet after the International Jewellery Show last night. My flight lands at midday.”
I put a smile on my face so it would sound in my voice. “Did you see my display? It was amazing.”
“Meet me at the townhouse at one.” The line went dead.
Ash lifted me onto the counter. “Everyone has seen your talent. He’s pissed he can’t control you now you have a career. Promise me you’ll not give up.”
“I can’t since I have a business partner who kicks my ass when I try to quit.” My arms and legs squeezed Ash as I hugged him.
He kissed my forehead before lifting my chin with his fingers. “Stay strong, Angel.”
I nodded, burrowing into his heat again. “I love you.”
He held me so tightly that I no longer knew where I ended and he began.
Xavier and Jordan were already at Papa’s house when we arrived. Neither of them commented, but they formed a united front that neutralised Papa even before he got to yell at me. When I went to pack an hour later, I found a Minnie Mouse plushie on my bed in her red and white polka dot outfit. A tiny card sat on top of her.
Love you forever, A.
He couldn’t say the words because he was as broken as me in his own way, but together we made the perfect whole. I was zipping up my case when he popped in through my room door. He pinned me to the wall, his lips devouring mine until we were both breathless.
Our love had to remain a secret, but it existed, and together we would ensure it survived. It might not be the happily ever after that my Disney loving heart craved, but Ash was mine and he loved me. We’d fight for that happy ending together.
