I gasped. My skin felt slick with sweat, and my palms were tingly with nervous energy. My heart swelled as he knelt on one knee. The whole crowd gasped, watching as the proposal unfurled before them. He pulled the mic back up to his lips. “Victoria, I have loved you since I found out what that word meant. Growing up, you were my best friend, my rock, my everything. I always knew I’d be with you in the end, and here we are. I can’t picture a day without you. I can’t picture a life worth living if you aren’t in it.” His words were heartfelt and sincere. He took my hand in his. I could feel him shaking, and I was, too. “So…” He opened the black box, revealing a dazzling diamond ring. The cameras zoomed in so audiences across the country could see it. “Will you marry me and be mine forever?”

I couldn’t believe it. The man of my dreams was actually proposing to me. I lunged forward to wrap my arms tightly around him. “Yes! A thousand times, yes!” I squealed, kissing him hard in front of everyone. There was a wild onset of clapping, and Lila giggled between us.

“Mommy and Daddy are getting married!” she said in a sing-song voice, flicking her pompoms from side to side.

“That’s right, pumpkin,” Hunter said, pulling me closer. “Mommy’s mine forever.”

I smiled, kissing his lips, knowing there was no one else I’d rather spend eternity with.
