Roman grinned at his dad and passed the baby to me. He gently laid her in my arms and then kissed me softly.
‘I love you,’ he whispered. ‘She’s perfect and so are you.’
With a contented sigh I reached up and kissed him back. ‘I love you too.’
‘So,’ my dad said, breaking our moment. ‘What is her name?’
‘Everybody, we’d like you to meet Emily Constance Holliday,’ I whispered against my daughter’s head.
‘Nanna’s name,’ Twinkle sighed.
‘Yes, Mum. Nanna’s name.’
Roman hugged his mum to his side and kissed her temple. ‘You see, a perfectly normal name can be just as good as anything Audrey-related.’
‘It’s beautiful, sweetheart,’ my mum said as she gently ran a finger down Emily’s cheek.
‘You don’t mind?’ I asked her. ‘That it’s after Twinkle’s mum.’
‘God, no, I wouldn’t want you to call her after mine,’ she gasped. ‘Who wants to call a child “Nerys”?’
‘Ooh, was that your mother’s name, Sue? I like that. I’ll have to remember that whenever Tiffy has a baby.’
‘Oh shit,’ Roman groaned against my ear. ‘I’d better warn Tiff that it has been decreed that her first-born daughter is to be called Nerys.’
We both started to giggle as our parents gazed down at their granddaughter.
‘Oh Romy,’ Twinkle suddenly squeaked.
‘Hmm,’ Roman said distractedly, without looking up from staring at Emily.
‘When Emily is six weeks old, I’ll be able to get that banner out of the loft.’
‘Which banner?’ he asked cautiously, his attention now on his mother.
‘The one that said “Roman’s Having Sex Again”.’
As everyone burst into fits of laughter, including Mum, I sat back and watched them.
My weird and wonderful family—I was so lucky to have them.
But best of all I had my gorgeous husband by my side and my beautiful daughter in my arms, and I couldn’t be happier.

With each book, this part gets harder and harder: not because I have no one to thank, but because the list gets longer and longer. Nikki is a romantic Piscean who lives with her husband, two dogs—Millie and Hector—and her mother-in-law, in Cheshire. She divides her time between writing and working part-time as a trainer for a software company.
