“I’ll clean it up,” Cypress promised, hugging him close.

“Mm, thought I was gonna do that?”

  “Nah. I got you.”

“Best boyfriend ever,” Tom said with a dreamy sigh.

Cypress laughed and smothered the sound in a kiss on the back of Tom’s neck. “Mmm, I really couldn’t wait for you to come home.”

“So, it’s your fault I came all over the casket that costs more than I make in like three months?”

“Partially,” Cypress mused. “It’s also your fault for looking too damn good in a suit.”

  “Duly noted.”

“I suppose I should let you up so you can go finish your service?”

“Probably.” Tom grinned. “Then again, we could hang out here for a few more minutes.”

“Could we?” Cypress chuckled. “Are you sure?”

“I mean, we gotta fix the casket, and you’ve built up this sort of ritual after we do stuff like this.”

  “Oh?”

“You know. Always taking care of me and getting me all cleaned up. Making sure I’m okay.” Tom turned his head to catch Cypress’s mouth in a sweet kiss. “Don’t wanna let me down now, do you?”

“Trust me, Tom. That’s the last thing I’d ever want to do.”
