Bowers of flowers to David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli, Howard Korder, Tom Fontana, Kelsey Grammar, and Joe Keenan, who gave up big chunks of their holiday vacations to read about murder and mayhem. The only thing I loved more than your blurbs was the joy of working with you. I feel genuinely blessed.
An eternity of gratitude to my perfect, long-suffering friend and partner, Chuck Ranberg. His early retirement forced me to do something on my own — too bad, because I can guarantee the book would have been better if we’d written it together.
And last but not least, huge thanks to my husband, Arnie Giordano, for going out to play disc golf at Lake Casitas so I could work at home on weekends with no distractions. Arnie’s friend Chris Workman ran into a man playing golf one day because his wife, another writer, wanted him out of the house while she worked. When Chris asked the man who his wife was, he answered, “Sue Grafton.” I’m repeating the story because this may be the only time I can tenuously link myself with one of my idols and thank Arnie at the same time. I raise a glass to thoughtful husbands everywhere.
