  Chapter One

‘Come here let me see you.’

Celine had put on his favourite outfit. A red little number with the Santa hat.

‘You really love Christmas don’t you?’

‘If I could have Christmas everyday I would be the happiest man alive.’

Celine tried not to think about what he’d told her at least for the moment. Instead she gave into his demands. With the plane in the air flying through the clouds, he put his champagne aside and began to undress.

‘If I could do this everyday…’

‘You would be a happy man.’

  ‘Indeed I would.’

He took her in his arms and held her close. His body was warm and she looked over it looking for scars for some sign of illness but couldn’t see anything. Instead his body was perfect and tensed while he held her.

‘I love holding you like this.’

She leaned into him and just enjoyed the warmth, the tenderness. It was the best feeling in the world and she could understand why he’d want this everyday.

‘Come sit down.’ He led her back to her seat. ‘Let me see you.’ He widened her legs and slipped off the black silks. ‘You know I love you warm and wet.’

Celine whimpered as his mouth touched her lips. At first he was so gentle as if to tease her. He lifted each leg onto each arm rest and for a minute just admired her. She was amazing and he wanted to savour every moment. He put two fingers to her mouth and she took them into her mouth. She sucked and licked them before he retracted and placed them between her throbbing clit. He slowly ran the fingers up and down the sleeves missing the hole. Each time he lowered her middle produced more wetness. She cried and closed her eyes to the delight of his fingers.

He watched her as she enjoyed every moment of it, he smiled and brought his lips forward and met her pussy. With his fingers still exploring her, the tip of his tongue dipped into the middle.

  ‘Oh god!’ she let out.

Celine placed both hands over his head and forced him further into her. She pushed forward, grinding into his mouth, meeting the enthusiastic tongue as he sucked on her hard.

‘Oh yes, yes!’ The build up was inevitable. He was licking on the most sensitive part of her pussy. ‘Oh yes! Yeeees! Aaaaaaah!’ She let out as her body caved as she splashed out into his opened mouth.

He licked his lips satisfied and gazed up at her lovingly. She held out her hand and took him into her arms. He rested on her chest, listening to her beating heart. The kisses were tender against her skin, they moved across her breasts up towards her neck and finally her lips. She took his face into her hands and gave as much as he did. She kissed him as if it were the last time.

He dipped his tongue deep into her mouth, likewise she mirrored back each gesture. She was lost in it all trying to forget it all, hoping it was all a bad dream and that when she opened her eyes everything would be back to normal. But as he withdrew and locked his eyes on hers she knew this wasn’t to be so. The truth lay in his deep blue eyes, in the sadness as they glazed over.

‘I’m sorry I never said I love you sooner.’

‘You’ve said it now and that’s all that matters.’

He took her hand and threaded his through hers. His face scrunched into a frown as if to hold back the tears. She ran a soft hand down the side of his face and without words she told him she was there for him.

He pulled her down the seat, his hand still in hers, his eyes still locked on hers. With his free hand he guided his thickness into her wetness. He ploughed into her his eyes not leaving her, his grip only tighter around her hand.

‘I…love you so much.’ He pushed harder and faster.

Celine watched him and took in the warmth of his thrust. It wasn’t just enjoyable it had a lot more meaning to it. She smiled faintly and then released her hand and wrapped both around his neck. She drew him closer to feel his body, to feel him breathe to hear him pant. He pulled from her waist and brought her as close as she could get and they gave to each other. Celine cried out and surrendered to his touch. He moaned and gave to her as much as he could give until they both found a release.

He lay into her taking deep breaths. Celine brushed his hair with her hand and waited. It was a long wait as he just lay still on her. He closed his eyes to the beating of her heart and just enjoyed the moment. Ten minutes went by and he just lay there, another five minutes and he just remained still. Another five minutes passed before he lifted and smiled.

  ‘Thank you,’ he smiled.

  ‘For what?’

‘For everything.’ He moved away to pick up his clothes. ‘I think now, after we’ve got dressed is the best time to talk.’

She nodded, fear gripped her. As much as she wanted to know everything she was also terrified. She was scared to know everything. She watched as he got dressed. After a while she decided to use the bathroom and put on a pair of jeans and top.

‘You look relaxed,’ he said as she came out.

‘Look it but don’t really feel it.’

He reached out for her and she went to sit in his lap. She snuggled into him and for a while they just enjoyed that.

‘Rhyland,’ she said finally. ‘Don’t hide anything from me I want to know it all.’

He took in a deep breath.

‘Everything and I want a number where I can contact you.’

‘The latter is easy.’ He fiddled for his phone. ‘I will give you a missed call without holding back my number.’

‘Why did you do that anyway?’

‘Because we weren’t where we are now. There’s a lot going on in my life.’

‘I’m all ears. Please tell me.’

  He nodded. ‘Okay I will.’

  Four Months before meeting Celine.

‘We’ve got your results back and I’m afraid it’s bad news.’

Rhyland put his head into his hands; it was what he’d feared. After a moment he looked up at the doctor wanting to speak but no words came. It had been past the five years, he’d been in remission and then just before being given the clear there was an extraordinary rise in his white blood cells after a routine blood check.

‘I thought I was home free.’

  ‘We did too.’

‘You were about to give me the all clear, I can’t go through this again.’

The fear gripped his stomach as he remembered how he’d gone through it the first time. Both parents were dead, he had no partner. All he had were his drivers, Finn his right hand man and his employees.

‘You spend your life building an empire only to discover you won’t be around long enough to enjoy it!’ He stood up and began to pace the doctor’s office.

Doctor Khan had been with him all the way through his first diagnosis. He’d been truly sorry that it had come to this.

  ‘What now?’

‘The polyps on the bowels are just too many. The last time we cut out quite a bit of the bowel but there’s nothing left to cut. If we went for surgery there would be nothing left to join I’m so sorry.’

  ‘So what are you saying?’

Doctor Khan had done this many times over but it was never easy, it was worse with Rhyland. He’d been so positive and had fought off the cancer the first time well. This was truly devastating.

  ‘Dr Khan
please tell me what this means?’ He sat back down.

‘I’m sorry Rhyland, now we can only offer you palliative care.’

‘So there’s nothing nothing at all?’ He never felt so terrified in his life. ‘I’m a fighter, this can’t be over for me. Not yet.’

‘We can offer chemo which could add two or three months max.’

‘So…so how long do I have without Chemo?’

‘I honestly can’t say. We predict times and many patients have outlived our predictions.’

‘But they died anyway. How long Dr?’

‘A year, maybe less, Chemo could give you a year and a half.’

‘No chemo, not for an extra six month, not if all those months I’m sick what would be the point.’ He didn’t feel anger, he felt defeated. He’d been down this road once before but then it had turned around for the better, but this time, this time it was different.

‘It’s still in the bowel; it could take a while before it attacks the vital organs…’

‘In which case I’m as good as dead.’

‘Rhyland I’m truly sorry. There are people who can talk to you help you through this.’

He sat down and gazed up at the wall, this wasn’t happening it couldn’t be happening.

  ‘Rhyland?’

‘I’m fine. Thank you for everything.’

‘Please stay in touch, when things get worse we can –’

‘I’ll be fine; I’ll take care of it.’

‘You don’t have to do this alone, there is help out there.’

‘I won’t be alone.’ He smiled. ‘I’ll be fine.’

He’d got home that day and made a load of calls. He spoke to solicitors and made plans. It was the hardest thing he had to do. But while he was in the midst of it all a thought came to him. He had one year, maybe less, it would give him time to do everything and anything. He put a plan in place and wrote down everything he wanted to do.

The first month he went away and spent time in the desert. He’d always wanted to but never made time. He spent less time in the office and more time doing the things he loved. He promised himself a maximum of three days a week in the office, the rest he handed over to staff.

He volunteered, he gave to charity and then in the second month he had the strangest idea. He wanted sex; he wanted lots and lots of sex without ever having to make a commitment. He called on his assistant Finn to help him. To source out all the bars and pubs and find him a girl who was willing to be his one and only call girl.

‘I’m dying at least let me have some fun. This way neither of us will get hurt.’

Night after night they trailed through pubs looking for the woman who would tickle his fancy. Many came and many went. Many were beautiful and sexy but there was always something missing. There was one pub he frequented and decided he would visit that one everyday for two weeks to see if the woman he was looking for would come through the door. Two weeks went by and no one caught his eye.

‘What exactly are you looking for sir?’ Finn had asked once. He couldn’t understand how he’d turned down so many women; so many were offering themselves to him.

‘I’ll know when I see her.’

They continued to visit pubs and clubs but no one he liked showed up.

‘It looks like I’ll never get my wish,’ he’d said one Friday evening.

‘Perhaps if you weren’t so choosy sir you’d be having all the sex you want.’

  ‘Who pays your salary Finn?’

  ‘You sir.’

‘Exactly. I want what I want. I will know when I see her. How about we go back to that pub, you know the one.’

‘The one you spent two weeks waiting for the girl who never showed.’

Rhyland eyed his assistant and his lips curled at the corners.

  ‘You know me so well.’

He’d done the right thing. The day he’d walked back into that pub he’d seen the woman he was looking for. She was working behind the bar. His instincts had been right, he’d found her.

‘We’re staying here for as long as it takes.’ He told Finn. ‘I think I’ve found the woman I’ve been looking for.’

Finn raised his eyebrows, was it possible after all these weeks.

  ‘How do you know sir?’

‘I just do.’ He kept a watchful eye on her until she’d finished her shift.

  ****

‘So you waited for me?’ she wiped the tears from her eyes.

‘I did and you want to know something?’

  She nodded.

‘I told myself I was looking for sex, for someone I could spend my cash on without the commitment. But then I saw you and I fell in love…but I just couldn’t allow myself to love, not with time ticking on my life.’

She chewed on her bottom lip as the tears drizzled down her face.

‘Please don’t be upset. I don’t want to upset you. This is a happy time.’ He squeezed her in his arms. ‘In a way I’m glad I finally found love. At least I will die happy.’

‘Please don’t say that, I don’t want to think about you dying.’

‘It’s a reality we all have to face someday; I’m just doing it sooner. Believe me I didn’t want to hear it too but I’ve come to accept it.’

  ‘So what now?’

‘Now we make the best of the time we have. I want to be that man you want me to be. I want to love you and just spend as much time with you as I can.’

‘I like the sound of that.’ She cradled into his shoulder.

They stayed in that position for a long while. Celine thought about the short future she had with him. She tried not to be too negative but it was hard to visualise a future without him.

‘I want to make the best of every minute,’ she said finally.

‘Me too.’ He rubbed her leg.

‘Promise me when we land in New York we will be like regular folk?’

  ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’

‘No drivers. We’re taking the subway. No eating out in fancy restaurants. McDonalds will do just fine.’

  ‘Okay, anything else madam’

‘I think that’s it for now.’ She giggled.

‘Can we at least stay in a great hotel?’

  ‘On one condition.’

  ‘What’s that?’

‘We share the room. I want you with me the whole night, not just part of the night.’

  He hesitated.

  ‘Please?’

  ‘I…’

  ‘Please.’

‘Okay for you.’ He wasn’t sure about it but he had to trust the flow of everything.

  ****

When the plane landed there was a car waiting. She shook her head at him.

  ‘What?’

  ‘I said no drivers.’

‘How are we going to get to the hotel?’

‘How do people get from the airport to hotels?’

He sighed with a big grin of his face. He let the driver take the luggage and they decided to find their own way to the hotel.

It took some getting used to. They entered the main Newark airport and looked around. She smiled at him as he tried to take control. It was so easy just instructing drivers to take him places but this was a new challenge. Not that he’d been rich all his life. It had been something he’d become accustomed to.

They walked over to the tourist section and pulled out a map of the subway.

‘Why don’t we go and ask the lady at that tourist information.’ He pointed at a lady.

‘Why don’t we try and do this ourselves? All we need to do is find our way to the subway.’

  ‘Okay miss, lead the way.’

After a lot of hiccups they managed to find a train that took them to the subway. Finally they found themselves standing at the door to The Plaza. It was hilarious and even though he was enjoying the adventure he did find it a little tiring.

‘I’m surprised you don’t have a hotel in New York.’

‘I was about to buy one when the illness struck. I jus
t wouldn’t be able to now.’

‘I’m really sorry about all this.’

‘Don’t be, it’s not your fault.’

An hour later they were at their destination. The door man opened the door and they made their way to reception to check in.

‘Is it alright if I have a lie down? Why don’t you have a look around and let me know what we’re doing tomorrow.’

She looked at him concerned. He looked a little pale but he perked up trying to hide the little bit of pain he felt.

  ‘Are you alright?’

‘I’m fine, don’t worry about me. This is something I’m used to. Just let me get a little rest and I’ll be back to normal.’

She watched him unsure whether or not to leave him.

‘I’ll be fine, I promise. Now go on, sort out an itinerary.’

‘Okay. Make sure you get enough rest because there’s a lot to do.’ She tried to sound jolly.

After she’d settled in Celine decided to go downstairs and check out her surroundings while Rhyland slept. She was genuinely worried about him but for his sake she stayed strong. Hopefully the following day would bring some joy.

  Chapter Two

The day was all planned out. Celine wanted to do so much in so little time. The first stop was Macy’s, she just had to shop. The look on his face was priceless but he was enjoying it nonetheless.

‘I just thought it would be fun, do a little retail.’

‘Sure babe, whatever you want. It’s a girl thing I suppose.’

When they had finished with their shop, Rhyland’s driver was outside waiting.

‘We’re not going in the car.’

‘I agree but we’re not carrying these shopping bags around.’

She smiled as she handed over the bags filled with clothes and shoes. It was cold but not as cold as it was back in England. She snuggled into him as they walked through the busy streets. It was amazing just spending time with each other without expectation. They visited the empire state building, walked through central park. Took photos and ate at McDonalds. Later that evening Celine begged to go to Times Square. She wanted to see what it looked like in the evening.

‘I feel as if I’m in a movie of some sort.’ She gazed around the lights, the billboards like a little child in Toysrus. If there was one thing she wanted to see this was it.
