Another racer pulled a step ahead of Roland. He heard the familiar voice of Bianca as she pulled a step ahead. “C’mon, mon!”
Roland began feeling light headed. The stitch in his side ripped through his ribcage with each breath. His HUD showed he was in position 47.
Two other racers pulled up even with Roland. The one closest to him was Enrique. All three racers were pushing themselves to their absolute limit. Only two could make it into the Tech Games. They all three ran neck and neck.
The other two racers began to pull ahead of Roland. His HUD showed he had moved to position 49. Ten feet was all that stood between Roland and his one chance to save his dad.
Roland inhaled deeply. Nothing is going to stand in my way!
