“Damn, lady, you make it hard to focus. Are we agreed we can work out whatever comes our way to keep our marriage solvent? Neither of us wants our kids hurt over another broken family.”

“I agree wholeheartedly.” Liana changed her mind about not talking right now. She loved to sit in the middle of the tousled bed with a naked Michael.

The firelight cast a soft glow over the room while they discussed the things that made them tick. She could talk to Michael and never fear he’d be angry or walk away.

“I want you to work on your design business and enjoy life. We’re a team, right?”

She couldn’t move. If she did, the image he’d just drawn might dissolve into a million shimmering lights.

  “Liana? Are you listening?”

She drew in a deep breath and blinked against tears of joy. “Yes, I’m listening. You’ve described the life I’ve always wanted. With you, I think it just might be possible.” She met his gaze.

“I’m glad.” His eyes went dark. “So, does that mean you’ll marry me?”

Liana trailed her fingers back up his thigh, hesitating when she reached his belly. “Of course I want to marry you. More than anything.”

Michael gently pressed her to the pillows and covered her with his strong body. “Good. Because I can’t think straight with you in my bed. We’ll finish the rest of the discussion later.”

Liana giggled and happiness bubbled through her with an effervescence she’d never imagined. She was confident they’d work out their differences because they’d both experienced bad relationships and recognized the real thing.

“Yes, we’ll talk later about how lucky we are.” She nuzzled his throat. Her nerve endings tingled with his every touch.

“Baby, I’m convinced we’re way more than lucky. Providence brought us together that day and love and dedication will keep us together.”

“Providence and Lucky the stray dog, you mean.” Liana smiled. “As for dedication? Never doubt how much I love you. I’m dedicated to spending at least the next fifty years with you.”

There’d never be a question in her mind...she’d been waiting for Michael for too long to ever let him go.
