Birth of the Chosen One Page 16

by Roger Kenworthy

He raised his head to the skies…a full moon shone down upon him. A familiar feeling surged through him, he felt a presence that had been absent for many moons. He took a deep breath.

A soft voice directed Tusik to close his eyes. “Do you see me now husband?”

  “Yes, yes…is it you, Johar?”

“Can you touch me now husband?

“I feel your softness. Oh Johar, we meet again.”

They talked, but no words formed upon their lips. They caressed, but their bodies did not touch. Their love reunited, but it was not as one.

Father had left our home for as many fingers I had on both of my hands…and this was noticed by the clan members who were becoming worried since their leader had not returned. There were mumblings that the spirits had changed their minds and took Tusik to remain with Johar. There was no laughter, no smiles …the light had been replaced by the dark.

  “There…he returns!”

Every member of the Forest Clan left the cave and watched as their leader slowly grew larger at each breath they took. My heart jumped at the sight of his return.

  “Father!”

  “Ovark!”

His eyes sparkled, clear…the mist of the past season was gone. He smiled wide, the sadness of the past season was gone. We hugged and as we did my brothers and sister formed a circle around him. The rest of our family joined us in laughter and tears of joy. He was back…our father, leader, guide.

“I have missed you as you have missed me; I am glad to return to my family. Narizon, members of the clan; I have crossed to the Otherworld and met with Johar.”
