With that, I picked up the page, folded it neatly, and tucked both it and the pen safely inside my clutch again. Even though the list was completed, I might just hang on to that precious little piece of paper forever. It was the key to priceless memories.
Leo slid his fingertips under my chin, forcing me to look him in the eye. In my sparkly heels, it wasn’t a challenge.
“We did it,” I said on a sigh. “We finished off my list.” We’d finished it with a bit of time to spare, even.
“How does it feel?” he asked.
“Honestly? I’m a little sad it’s over.” I smiled at the memories, though. “It must’ve been fate, to have my list fall at your feet.”
He nodded. “I’m glad I’m the one who found it.”
“I’ve had so much fun with you the past few months. I’m so happy you took a chance the night you offered to help me out.” If not for the list, I didn’t think Leo would’ve ever let me know how he felt. I could’ve missed out on the most memorable moments of my life.
“Don’t get nostalgic already,” he gently scolded. “This night’s not over yet. We’re going to dance and have a great time with our friends.”
“I know.”
“Not only that,” Leo said, “but I think our adventures together are just getting started. Graduation is only two weeks away. Then we have three entire months of summer to fill.” He reached into his tux pocket and pulled out his own sheet of folded-up paper.
I tilted my head to the side, curiosity bubbling through me.
He handed it to me and watched as I unfolded it.
A laugh bubbled up as I met his eyes.

“I helped you with your list,” he said lightly as he took the page from my hand and stuffed it back into his pocket. “I think it’s only fair that you return the favor and help me with mine. What do you think?”
I cocked my head to the side and pretended to mull it over, but no doubt my excited smile gave me away. “How could I possibly say no to logic like that?”
He laughed and said, “I thought we could start by heading to Spokane to spend some time with your sister. Are you in?”
“I am so in!”
From there?
The possibilities for Leo and me were endless.
