Limitless (Journey Series) Page 12

The girls still seemed to follow Teddy everywhere he went, even though he was clearly with Ally. The Major Hoosiers had picked up quite a following being on tour. There had even been talks of them getting their own headlining tour when this one was finished at the start of the summer. I definitely couldn’t be Ally, even if she continued touring with Teddy, I couldn’t imagine going from city to city on a tour bus.

“They really are. Trust me, I was a little nervous when they got together. I thought for sure things would have ended badly by now. And then Ally filled me in on their plan for when we came here. I was definitely in shock. I mean, who knows how things between the two of them we’ll be a year from now. I don’t even know about me and Mark some days.”

“Well, I guess we’ll just have to let everything flow its course and be happy for them. That’s all we can do in life, I guess.” Ally did seem happier than she ever had. Don’t get me wrong, she was always my perky, bubbly best friend, but ever since I had met her, she had flitted from guy to guy. As odd as it seemed, maybe her and Teddy really were meant to be together, and it just took them a little while to figure that out.

My eyes landed on my husband who was standing at the bar waiting to get drinks with Mark. It was like he felt my eyes on him, his head instantly whipping around, and giving me a big wink of one of his green eyes. If Ally and Teddy felt anything for each other like Chase and I felt, I think they definitely had a shot. I swear my stomach still did crazy things whenever I saw Chase.

Tonight, he was looking extra good in a tight fitting V-neck gray T-shirt; you could literally count his abs through the shirt. His tattoos were peeking out from underneath his shirt, giving him that bad boy vibe that I had fallen in love with, even though it had told me to run the other way. I was glad I had finally stopped running.

“Thinking about me?” My lips curved into a smile when I felt Chase’s warm breath flutter against my neck and he reached around me to set our drinks on the table. “Always.” I took a sip of my pop that he had brought over while the rest of the table did shots. I was definitely happy about going back to my no drinking policy.

“C’mon, let’s dance. I think I need to be a little closer to you in this dress.” Chase grabbed my hand and spun me around right in front of the table before leading the way to the dance floor.

We found a spot near Ally and Teddy, but I was quickly rethinking that decision. I loved to dance with Chase, it was highly erotic and I loved the feel of his body against mine. But they were practically having sex in front of anyone.

“Hey, why don’t you two save that for the wedding night?” I yelled over the techno dance music that the club was playing. Ally pulled herself away from Teddy for only one second to stick her tongue out at me and then continued on. I looked back up at Chase who was smirking at me and pulled me a little bit away from them. “Are you jealous or something? Because if that’s what you want, I have no problem-”

“Uh no,” I put a finger up to his lips to stop him. “I think we can save that for later.” He laughed quietly against my neck and then wedged his thigh in between my legs. We both started moving in time to the music, the sweat quickly dripping off our bodies and mixing together.

I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, instantly feeling Chase’s head dip down to meet my neck. His lips ran up from my collarbone, past my neck, and all the way to my chin where he bit down lightly. I moaned at the contact, I actually moaned with all of these people surrounding me.

My eyes popped open as soon as it happened and I looked around quickly, but luckily no one was paying attention, all lost in their own worlds. I straightened up and Chase twisted my body around so I was flush with his chest. As soon as we were in that position, I flashed back to the night before our wedding.

His warm hands wrapped around my stomach and I pushed myself back against him so there was absolutely no room between our bodies. Chase’s lips once again found my bare neck and he whispered against my skin, “This remind you of something?” I nodded my head in answer, not wanting him to stop what he was doing, ever. “Let’s get out of here then and re-live it.” I giggled when he scooped me up and pushed through the crowds of people easily.

Luckily, the club that we had gone to was connected to the hotel and Chase easily made it to our room in record time. He kicked the door open and deposited me in the middle of the bed, moving quickly to push my dress over my head and then swooping off his own shirt in one pull.

“I loved that dress, you looked so sexy in it but this is much better.” His eyes slowly scanned my body, completely naked besides the lacy panties that I still had on, but I had a feeling they wouldn’t be there much longer.

He skimmed his fingers lightly over the lace material before sliding his fingers inside, teasing me with what was to come. I arched my hips into him as his palm ground into me and I frantically searched for the button on his jeans. “Do you mind helping me with these?” I panted out. He gave me a sexy smirk and wagged one finger at me. “Nope,” he said with a pop. “I need a taste of you first.”

His tongue darted out and he licked his lips slowly to emphasize his point. What a freaking tease. I squirmed in place, anticipating what was coming next and he didn’t waste any time. With one flick of his wrist, my panties were gone.

He dipped his head down between my thighs to place light kisses before his tongue finally slipped out and I couldn’t help the loud sigh that escaped my lips. This was exactly what I needed.

His tongue was relentless as he sucked and licked and just when I thought I was right there at the edge, his head would pull back for just a second to pause before beginning the teasingly good process all over again. My body was trembling with the need for his tongue on me again, so I grabbed onto his head, guiding him back into place and I could feel his laughter vibrating against me. “Demanding much?”

I pushed on his head once again and this time he went back to work and remained there. The cool silver in his mouth flicked against me and when he pushed one finger inside, I completely came undone, bucking against his mouth. He stayed with me every step of the way, drawing it out as much as he could until my body finally relaxed and my head flopped against the pillow.

When I felt Chase’s body weight begin to slide off me, I grabbed onto his jeans, this time my hands making quick work of the button and I shoved them down to his ankles. I pulled him back on top of me, loving the feel of our skin against each other.

When I arched my hips into him while working my mouth across his jaw line, his green eyes flicked down to me. “You sure, baby?” I nodded my head and that was all the go ahead he needed.

He sunk into me with one hard thrust but sat unmoving until I swiveled my hips in a circle around him. He let out a growl, pulling his hips back slowly, almost to the point of disconnecting our bodies and then plunged back into me, making me feel full once again and setting off every nerve in my body. I met his every thrust and worked my hips against him. He groaned into my neck, his tongue darting out to taste me. “Leah, you feel so good.”

He pulled his body weight back up once again and I locked my legs around him to make our bodies come together as close as possible. My head was already spinning and I started to become even more unglued as he continually plunged in. I came around him as hard as I ever thought possible and came down from the high, my body literally trembling from the exertion and feelings he had just set off.

He grinned as he collapsed against me, our bodies heaving together as one. I laid my palm against his heart, feeling the frantic beats eventually return to normal. He leaned down to kiss my palm before his eyes fluttered shut and we fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Ally and Teddy’s wedding was everything that I expected. Instead of the traditional white wedding dress, Ally had chosen a strapless lacy black dress that reached mid- thigh and had a neon pink sash cinched at the waist. She had neon pink high heels to match and the color continued on into her hair with pink ribbon intrica
tely weaved into the tiny twists of blonde that covered her whole head.

Teddy had somehow found a neon pink blazer that matched her accessories perfectly and paired it with black dress pants. It was literally Ally splashed all over the place and I knew even though this was in Vegas, it really was her perfect day and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

The chapel that they got married in was small and one of those places that actually had a drive through that you could get married in. Luckily, they didn’t pick that option. Instead, they were married by some guy who looked like he was trying to be an Elvis impersonator, but I think it ended up being a really bad version of what Elvis would have ended up looking like if he had survived to the age of eighty.

Anyone could tell how much in love they were with each other. Now, I guess we would see where it ended up going. I guess I just had to think positive for once, that it would all work out in the end.

The one contribution that I had been able to make at such short notice, turned out perfectly. I had found a little bakery, with cupcakes for sale. Unfortunately, wedding cakes had to be ordered a little bit ahead of time. They were perfect for Ally and Teddy though and they both took turns smashing them into each other’s faces.

“Thanks so much for coming, Leah. I know you’ve had it hard for a little while but I’m glad you’re doing better.” Ally wrapped me in a tight hug as soon as the ceremony was over, with Teddy trailing behind her never letting go of her hand. “I wish you guys could have stayed longer.”

“Me too, but Chase has to get back. He has a conference to go to for work and I’m missing Caleb. We’ll have to meet up again like this soon. Plus, you’re going to come home for a little while after the tour ends, right?”

“That’s the plan right now. I don’t know how crazy I am about living at Teddy and Mark’s place, for even a little bit. You’ve seen how gross it is.” We both visibly cringed at the thought of it.

Maybe I would do Ally a favor and go clean up over there before they came home. She probably wouldn’t appreciate the panty collection he had taken up over the years and I would probably need to take some sandpaper to his headboard.

“Tell the little man we said hey, Leah. I bet he misses his Uncle Teddy, huh? I know I’m his favorite. He wants to be just like me someday.”

“Sure, Teddy.” I rolled my eyes and wrapped him in a hug. Just what I would want for Caleb. At least Teddy seemed to be changing for the better though.

I hugged Remy and Mark before leaving and stopped to say bye to Tyler. I had been surprised that Tyler had shown up. He even had an easy smile on his face during the whole ceremony.

Of course, I think that had something to with the fact that he had brought a guest of his own along. A blonde haired girl that reminded me of a pixie, with her pale skin and short spiky do. According to Ally, they had met when the tour first started, she made sure all of the equipment got from point A to point B, and when Ally started seeing Teddy, they got together not long after.

“You ready to go home, baby?” Chase snaked an arm around my waist and dropped a kiss on my forehead.

“Definitely, home sounds perfect. I had fun but I’m ready to see Caleb. I missed our time together.” Chase smiled knowingly, I knew he felt the same way and he wished that he could come home right away too, but duty called and off to work he would go. Hi ho, hi ho.

  Chapter 23

  Leah

“Here we go.” Chase dropped our bags in the front entryway of our house. It seemed odd that Tootsie wasn’t there to greet us right away; he had stayed at Mary’s house while we were gone and I had been too exhausted to want to pick him up.

It felt good to be home. Caleb had been overjoyed when we picked him up from Roy’s, truthfully I think it hurt Roy’s feelings a little bit at how excited he was to leave. We stopped for lunch on our way home, that way Chase and Caleb could spend a little bit more time together, but the time had went by way too quickly and now we he was leaving.

“You two going to be all right here without me?” Chase smirked as I flopped down on the couch, drained from the trip and ready to head to bed. I was sure Caleb had other plans in mind though.

“Yes, I think we’ll be okay even though you won’t be here to fight off all the bad guys.”

“Well, I am the man of the house and all. I guess Caleb will just have to take over for me.” He pulled me up from the couch and ran his hands up my sides slowly. It had felt good to spend the whole weekend alone with him, I really wasn’t looking forward to him leaving, but his ego didn’t need to know that.

“You, mister, better get out of here. Do you have everything packed up that you’ll need?”

“Yup, unless you want to try and hop in there too, I think I’m all set.” I rolled my eyes as I lightly shoved him towards the door and he scooped up his bag once again.

We said our goodbyes and soon Chase was gone. It was definitely going to be weird having him gone, but I knew Caleb would keep me busy.

“Hey bud, how ‘bout you change into your jammies and then we’ll watch some movies and order pizza for dinner,” I yelled down the hallway into his bedroom.

“’Kay, Mommy. I wanna watch Spiderman.” I groaned when he said it, even though I knew it was coming. Spiderman was his obsession right now and Chase was in heaven about it. I just couldn’t get into the whole superhero thing. I guess it was a boy thing. Why didn’t he ever want to watch movies about princesses?

After watching two movies and eating a whole large pizza between the two of us, we were both fighting to keep our eyes opened. I tucked Caleb into his bed and then crawled into ours. It felt so empty without Chase, so I snuggled up to his pillow, breathing in his soft soap scent. I felt a little on the pathetic side for already missing him so much, but I didn’t care. Chase and I were finally in a good place and I couldn’t be happier.

  ************

“Mommy, I’m hungry. Wake up.” I cracked an eye open and saw a pair of brown eyes staring back at me, just an inch of space between our two faces. I had definitely missed these wake- up calls while we had been gone. I looked over at the clock and saw that it was almost noon; apparently both of us had been worn out.

I stretched my arms out and then wrapped them around his tiny little body, burying my face in his soft curls. How anyone couldn’t love this little man was beyond me. He made it so easy.

I padded out to the kitchen with him in my arms and sat him on the countertop where he watched me pull out ingredients for our breakfast. “Can we have the smiley face pancakes? And then we’re going to go get Tootsie from Grandma Mary’s, right?”

“Of course, that’s exactly what I was thinking about making. Hopefully, we have some whip cream, that’s the best part, right?” Caleb clapped his little hands the second I found the canister of whip cream and we assembled our pancakes quickly. “We’ll go get Tootsie as soon as we eat and are dressed for the day,” I added on.

“Good. I miss Chase, when’s he coming home?” he asked in between bites. “He’ll be home late tomorrow night, he misses you too. You had fun at your dad’s house though, right? Chase said he had a bunch of fun stuff planned out.”

“Yup, Daddy’s was okay, I guess. He took me to the animal place and then we went to the pizza place for dinner. The next day Shelia came with us, that wasn’t fun,” he grumbled, his bottom lip sticking out into a pout.

I had to stifle a laugh at his expression, he really was not into Shelia. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that he wasn’t getting one hundred percent of his dad’s attention. And she kind of seemed a little stuffy, in my opinion.

I guess I could understand Caleb’s jealousy though. He had gone so long without knowing who his dad was, now he just wanted to be with him solely.

“Well, you just have to be nice to Shelia. Your dad seems to like her pretty well, so you should try too. Now, finish up your breakfast, I think you are in need of a bath. I can smell your stinky feet from here.” He giggled as he ate his last bite
and I scooped him off the barstool and headed into the bathroom.

“ ‘Kay bud, strip down. I’m going to go grab a few towels from our bathroom since we’re all out in here. I have some serious laundry to do today after we pick up Tootsie. Doesn’t that sound like some fun times?” I started up the water, adding his favorite blue bubbles to the water and walked out to the hallway to grab towels.

“Here we go buddy, I found this in the closet.” I tossed a bath toy into the tub with a splash, gasping when he turned around to reach for it.

“Caleb, what happened?” I inched closer to the tub, squeezing my eyes shut before once again reopening them. Nope, I hadn’t being seeing things. Almost his entire back was covered in black and blue bruises.

I splayed my trembling hands across his soft skin gently examining each one. Some of them faintly resembled handprints and I immediately knew this was no accident. I blinked back the tears that I felt coming on, sucking in a deep breath to hold them inside.

Now was not the time for a breakdown. Now was the time to find out exactly what happened, so I could beat the shit out of that person. Caleb’s face had fallen grim but his lips remained pressed together tightly, they were almost white.

“Caleb,” I repeated in a soothing voice, “what happened? Was this an accident or did someone do this to you? Can you please tell Mommy so I can make sure it never happens again? Please, baby?” His only reply was a sharp shake of his head and he dropped down to sit in the water, quickly finding his bath toys and ignoring me. “ ‘Kay buddy, I forgot something I’ll be right back.”

I walked into our bedroom, trying to calm the shakiness of my hands as I picked up my phone. How I had not found out about this sooner was beyond me. He had to have been in pain, but no one would have ever known. He was one tough cookie and I had no idea how he was powering through that pain with a brave face. Just thinking about it made me sick to my stomach.
