Eternal Time Shadows Box Set 2 / Volumes 11-20: Sweetly Romantic Time Travel Mini-Adventures Page 13

by Lisa Shea

  The ziggurat trembled.

Black fingers crept up from the crevices between the stone tiles, grasping at my legs.

I couldn’t breathe. I fell hard to my knees, my hands desperately going to my throat.

Robert called to me as if from legions away. “Here! Put this on!”

He was holding out a mask to me. It seemed to glow with a golden light.

I could see the tendrils of black reaching for him from the walls. Seeking to drag him down.

I shook my head. “No. You take it. You are the son of the King.”

He pressed it again toward me. “I will not leave you! Put it on!”

The black tentacles were at my chest now. I held his gaze with my own. “I will stay by your side.”

He looked again at the mask, at the wave of golden light which was emitting even more strongly from it now. Then he wrapped an arm around me and drew his head in close to mine. “Then we will go together.”

I pressed my cheek against his. The warmth of his body was like the ease of a glowing campfire at the end of a long day’s journey.

His voice was a low murmur.

  “Together”

He brought the mask up so its golden warmth washed over us both.

  The world shimmered …

  About the Author

Lisa Shea has always faced the time-sink challenge of adoring far too many different time periods in history. For over ten years she ran a feudal Japan newsletter. She’s written twelve books set in medieval times. She treasures her native American ancestors and has written two books featuring them.

Then came the idea of writing a romantic adventure which had the main characters time hopping between these different cultures she enjoys so much. The concept filled her with delight. Now she could share her love of all these cultures!

The stories are deliberately written to be short. Yes, she also enjoys writing epic-length novels that delve into the intricate details of medieval life or the struggles of the Lumbee tribe in the nineteenth century. But there are readers who simply do not have the time to invest in those sagas. These short stories are the solution for readers who are looking for quick snippets of stories to enjoy at a bus stop or waiting for an appointment.

As always, all feedback is appreciated.

  Dedication

These books would not be possible without the help and support of the loyal fans:

Ruth, whose support and encouragement sustains me in all things.

Tom H who has insightful ideas.

Kathleen, a fantastic cheerleader and idea-bringer.

Martin, Helen, Sheri, Annalisa, Elmi, Sonia, Heather Anne, Cathy, Gary, and Blake, who all offered wonderful suggestions.

Most of all, my darling partner, Bob, who has supported me in my dreams for nearly twenty years.

  Map

I love tracking statistics and numbers. I was intrigued to find that my stories in this series tended to be fairly Euro-centric. Perhaps that reflects the type of reading I tend to do? It encourages me to expand my own horizons and learn more about the many wonderful cultures we have here on earth!

  Free Books

I have nearly two hundred stories published. I have written fiction and non-fiction. I have published epic novels, regular-length novels, novellas, novelettes, and short stories.
