by Adam's Angel (epub)

“Shhh, it’s me,” a familiar voice said. Tori looked up into a set of silver eyes and tears burst free. “Warrior!”

He smiled, his dark shaggy hair hanging in his face. “I hate that nickname and you know it.”

She cried harder, trying to free herself to no avail. “Adam’s hurt.”

He stared past her at Adam. “I can heal him, Tori, but you’ll need to swear him to secrecy on who I am. Can you do that? I’m breaking every rule there is being here now. If the Tribunal Review Board catches on…”

She couldn’t help but laugh through her tears. “You’ll tell him I said there should only be three of you on each one, not six?”

  He grinned. “Smartass.”

Walking toward Adam, Warrior seemed to take up a lot of space. He was a big guy, always had been, but he seemed even bigger now. He knelt near Adam and put a hand to Adam’s chest. Adam’s body jerked and he gasped, coming upright fast. “Tori!” he shouted, looking around wildly.

  “I’m here.”

Warrior stayed in front of Adam’s naked form. “She’s safe and well.”

Adam blinked up at Warrior. “Who the fuck are you?”

“Adam,” Tori said, hurrying to his side, doing her best to keep the sheet around her. “Stop. He’s a friend. A good friend.”

“To you. I don’t much care for him,” Warrior said with a smirk.

Adam gasped. “That voice. I know that voice.”

His eyes widened. He looked to Tori. “Why the hell is a Tribunal member in our bedroom?”

Warrior snorted. “You took a hell of a blow, Adam. Zephaniah is powerful.”

“He was here,” Adam said, trying to stand. “His voice. I heard it and then nothing.”

“He hit you with raw angel power that was tainted by hate and evil,” Warrior said. He reached to the side and grabbed a throw from a chair. “Cover yourself. I get Tori may find you attractive but the sight of your naked ass is seriously turning my stomach.”

Adam took the throw and wrapped it around his lower half. When he looked back up at Warrior, his eyes widened again. “Holy shit, I know you! You’re…ohmygod, you’re famous!”

Tori slid up next to Adam. He pulled her to him. She touched his shoulder. “Adam, no one can know Warrior’s true identity. It’s important you only ever call him Warrior in front of others. The Tribunal protects their identities for a reason. They’re some of the most powerful supernaturals out there. They make the rules and issue the orders to be followed. If the enemy wanted to cripple our side, they’d…”

“Go at him and the others non-stop.” Adam nodded. “I understand. His secret is safe with me. Though, I should admit I think his movies suck. He’s hardly a fitting romantic lead. He should stick with action films.”

Warrior smirked. “Critique from a man-whore.”

  Tori sighed. “Boys.”

Warrior looked to her. “Tori, I need to go. I’ve mystically contacted your brother to alert him of the attack on you. Adam, you and your team will need to gather to hunt him. Don’t take Tori or Adira.”

“I can’t leave her alone,” Adam said. “What if Zephaniah returns for her?”

Warrior thought it over. “Oracle. I can have her come and monitor you both. She’ll unload a can of kick-ass on anyone, fallen angel or not.” Pride showed on him.

Tori touched his arm. “You know, if you’d just eat crow, I’m sure she’d unload something else on you.”

Adam stared at Warrior. “Are you and Oracle a thing?”

  “No.”

Tori sighed. “Thank you for coming for us.”

“I came for you,” he corrected. “Asshole magik guy just got lucky he was with you.”

Tori rolled her eyes and snorted. “Get going. You’re trouble.”

Warrior stepped back and then vanished into thin air.

Adam grabbed her and yanked her to him, his mouth capturing hers. She felt his magik riding over her, scanning her. He gasped and drew back. “He shackled you with magik? He was going to…? Tori?”

She pushed on his chest. “I’m all right.”

“I’m going to kill him with my bare hands,” Adam said, stepping away from her and pacing the room. “That sick son-of-a-bitch.”

“Cover yourselves and sit,” a deep voice said.

Tori gasped and wrapped the sheet tighter around herself. “Daddy?”

Adam spun in his bedroom to find a large, powerful man who bore a strong resemblance to Kolbein standing there.

He scrambled to grab pants from a drawer. He hurried into them, nearly zipping his dick in the process. He cleared his throat. “Um, sir. Hello, I’m…”

The man glared at Adam. “I’m well aware of who you are.” He stepped closer, blatantly staring over Adam. “You’re who the fates seem to think my daughter should spend her life with. Can’t say I agree with them.”

“Daddy,” Tori said, moving forward and touching Adam’s arm. “Stop.” Tori hated having her father in the room with them. She set her sights on him. “No more.”

“Are you happy?” her father asked. “With him?”

  “I am.”

  “And you’ll wed him proper?”

  Adam interjected, “She will, sir.”

Her father let out a long, slow breath. “Zephaniah has been captured by my people. We will hold him in the pits of despair.” He stepped closer to Tori and touched her cheek. “I know what he attempted. I know what he nearly succeeded in doing. Warrior contacted your brother, who instantly summoned me forth.” He took a long, deep breath and then touched Adam’s bare chest.

Adam’s body jerked a second before he went to one knee.

Tori screamed, bending next to him. “Daddy, what did you do to him? I love him and you tried to kill him?”

Her father snorted. “Hardly. I simply blessed him with additional power so he can hold his own better against our kind, sweetheart. Its hardly my fault he needs time to adjust to it.”

Adam stared up at her, rubbing his chest. “You love me?”

  She blinked. “Are you hurt?”

He stayed in place. “You really love me?”

She sighed. “Of course I do.”

He grinned from ear to ear. “I love to you too.”

Her father laughed. “I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone. I’m told you’re working on giving me granddaughters. Zephaniah is secure and no longer a threat.” He took a step back. “Adam, my wedding gift to you will be Zephaniah. We’ll hold him and when you’re ready, the kill will be yours. My son wants it but I feel it should go to you.”

“Thank you, sir,” Adam said, rising to his feet slowly.

Her father vanished and she stood quickly.

Adam grabbed her and tugged her to him. “Come here, angel. I need to be in you again and then I need to go assure Zephaniah can never harm you again.”
