This time Janet opened her mouth and her words came out so clear Michelle had to take a second look at Janet to see if it was real.
“Apparently I don’t owe you a dime and you need to take that up with Michael not me! Did he tell you that he loves you? Yeah just what I thought! Trust me he won’t!” Janet said with anger.
“Well, she talks so let’s give her a hand” Susan said.
A loud banging sound came from the hospital door.
“Mrs. Reynolds?! Mrs. Waters?! Are you two okay? Open the door! It’s the police!
“I have to get out of here! But before I go you must know your husband may be the father of my child and I should have made sure you were dead when I ran you over!” She yelled.
“Really? Are you kidding me? You almost killed me, slept with my husband and I lost my baby because of you!”You disgust me and you call yourself a woman! You are lucky I don’t have that gun pointed at you!” Susan yelled.
“Save the trash talking for yourself! I wanted the life you had and I almost had it too!” she yelled with anger.
“Don’t fool yourself! It will never happen! Susan yelled.
There was banging on the door again.
“This is the police! Open the door now!” the police said.
“I am not going to jail! No I am not!” Susan yelled.
At that moment Michelle saw an opportunity to take the gun away from her. She snuck up behind her and grabbed her arm. They fought for the gun and all of a sudden there was a loud bang. Both Michelle and Susan fell to the floor. Susan started screaming because she saw blood coming from her leg.
Janet saw Michelle moving trying to get up. Thank God she is moving. By that time the police and security rushed in with guns drawn.
“Arrest that woman! She ran me over and she threatened me and my friend with a gun! Janet yelled.
“Ma’am? Are u okay? The doctor asked Janet
“Yes I am okay. Please see about my friend!” Janet pleaded.
“Ma’am are you okay?” he asked Michelle.
“Yes, I am okay just a bit disoriented.” She said.
“Okay we are going to move you on to the bed so we can check you out” the doctor said.
“Okay. Ouch! My leg hurts a little” Michelle cried.
“Don’t worry we will take good care of you” a familiar voice said.
“Why Doctor Jackson we are going to have to stop meeting like this. Especially under these circumstances that have took place” she said.
Chapter 13
“Yes it has been a rough day and night for everyone. Now that lady needs to be locked up somewhere far away so she can cause no one any harm. She gave us quite a scare” he said with concern.
“Yes it has been one of those days and hope not to have a repeat anytime soon. Oh, I need to get in touch with my husband and let him know what happened” she said.
“Okay I will call him and update him and in the meantime you rest up. Your leg will be fine as well” he said.
“Is my baby okay?” she said in a low voice.
“Yes everything looks good. We will have to move you to another room for overnight observation and then you go home tomorrow if everything stays the same. I will inform the nurse so you can be transported. Just relax and enjoy your time with your friend” he told her.
“Mrs. Reynolds you seem to be doing just fine and your vitals are normal under the circumstances you went through. Just remarkable you are able to talk so clear now but we all know that God was and is watching over you. You ladies rest and enjoy each other” he said with a smile.
“You have a great night doc and thank you again” Janet said.
As Doctor Jackson was writing his notes the officer put handcuffs on Susan and told her she was under arrest.
“You are under arrest for the hit and run of Mrs. Janet Reynolds and for fleeing the scene where both your husband and Mr. Reynolds were left bleeding and with injuries as well as for threatening and holding Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Waters hostage with a gun” the officer said.
“You just wait, it’s not over yet! You remember that and make sure you look over your shoulder!” Susan yelled at Janet as they took her out in handcuffs.
“Is Michael alright?!Janet exclaimed.
“He will be just fine. You just relax and take it easy. He had surgery and we were able to remove the bullet. He is in recovery now and will be moved to a regular room later on. I expect a full recovery. You rest and enjoy your friend here. She was really worried about you” Doctor Jackson said.
“Yeah she is always there for me no matter what. That’s why I love her. I’m glad that Michael will be okay. Thank you so much doctor.
“You are quite welcome” he said with a smile.”
“Oh, how is the other man doing that was shot?” Janet asked.
“Well Mr. Douglass will be fine. He suffered a bullet wound to the arm but thankfully it exited out on it’s on so it looks as though everyone will be okay. Now, for Mrs. Douglas that is a different story” Doctor Jackson said with a concerned look.
“Hello. I need to check your vitals ladies” the nurse said.
“Yaaay lots of fun” Michelle said smiling.
“You ladies get some rest “he said.
“Wow! What a day bestie” Janet said.
“You can say that again bestie” Michelle said smiling.
“I can’t believe Michael hit you and had an affair too! OOOOOOh you wait till I get my hands on him! Why didn’t you tell me? You know I would protect you and help you” she cried.
“I know you would help me. I just didn’t want to anything to happen to you. I couldn’t live with myself if anything happened to you” she said with tears in her eyes.
“AWWWW I know because I feel the same way. You always think of others before yourself. I am so sorry you had to endure all this pain, I really am. I never thought Michael would be abusive but I knew it was something about him” Michelle said.
“I know I still can’t believe it either. I felt like it wasn’t real but I know it is and I have to face reality. I guess it was a case of blind love. I was blinded by love and only saw what I wanted to see and I am sure I won’t be the first or the last that is blinded by love. I still have love for Michael and I know that I couldn’t hate him for all the pain he has caused. I just want to get past all of this hurt and start rebuilding myself and my marriage if possible as well as regaining my strength. I lost the baby and I feel so empty inside but I know it will get easier with time. I know that you are pregnant so you don’t have to walk around on egg shells with me around. I am more than happy for you and DeWayne. You two deserve it” she said with tears in her eyes.
“Awwwwww, you making me cry now. I applaud you for being so strong because I know I wouldn’t be as strong as you are. I would be ready to go upside Michael’s head and you know how crazy I am” Michelle said.
Chapter 14
“Yeah we know how crazy you are. Oh now I think you are a lot stronger than you think you are. Trust me I know” she said.
“Well, would you take the role of being the godparent of my baby? I would be so honored if you do and I wouldn’t want anyone else to fill that role but you. You know how my family is and how they can get. Just stuck up and bougie” she said laughing.
“Yeah I know how they can get but you got to love them especially your mom. I would be honored to be his or her godparent and I take my role as godparent seriously” Janet said excitedly.
“Then it is settled no need to look any further. That reminds me I need to call DeWayne and fill him in. The doctor may have called him already” she said.
Just as she was about to punch in his number Dewayne came through the door.
“Well hello ladies. I see you have had a lot of excitement today.” he said while hugging them both.
“Yes you could say that. There was never a dull moment” Janet said joyfully.
“Well hello Ms. Superwoman! I hope you are okay. Whatever you do please don
’t try and take a gun from someone again. You could have gotten hurt or the baby could have gotten hurt too. Babe you have to remember that you have another person to think of okay?” he said.
“Honey I know. I just reacted and didn’t really think. You know I was not about to let nothing happen to my girl. I had to do something quick or she would have killed us both. I love you.” She said with a smile.
“I love you too” he replied.
“How is Michael doing?” he asked Janet.
“They performed surgery and he is in recovery now. I am just waiting on him to be moved to a room and then if I want to see him they will wheel me to see him” she said.
“Oh okay that is good. The Doctor told me he was here when he called me. Well Michael is a pretty strong guy so he will be alright” Dewayne assured her.
“Yes he will. Nothing can keep him down.” Janet said with a frown.
“Well I am going to let you ladies rest up and I will check back later.” He said.
“Okay babe. I have to stay overnight but should be able to go home tomorrow so, I will keep you informed. I love you and be careful” Michelle said.
“I love you too” he replied.
“Thanks for not telling Dewayne that Michael hit me. I know it wasn’t easy” Janet said sadly.
“No problem. You know DeWayne would have tore Michael up for doing what he done to you. I just want to keep the peace” Michelle said with a smile.
“Amen to that” Janet said with joy.
“Hello ladies. Time for me to do your vitals” the nurse said.
“UGHHHH” they both said smiling.
“Ma’am could you turn your face toward the camera?” the lady asked as she took the picture of Susan.
Might as well smile, Susan thought to herself. My mug shot will be all over TV and the newspaper. They have my clothes and whatever jewelry I had. This is my first time being in jail and it is no fun. Was what I did worth all of this? No it wasn’t she thought to herself. Now Charles probably will file for divorce. I hope he is okay and who knows how much time I will get for this crime. I don’t want my baby born in jail; no it will not be happening if I have anything to do with it. Now time to start planning my escape. I guess it’s time for me to put on my performance of a lifetime because there is no way I am going to last in here. This will have to be so believable that they will take me to the hospital and then I can make my getaway. I plan on making some surprise visits as soon as I can bust out of this joint she thought as she planned her escape. It’s time to get this show started.
Chapter 15
Michael opened his eyes and looked around. I wonder what I am doing in the hospital he thought as he looked around. Well I am still alive that’s for sure because this pain is real. I need to see the doctor and I am going to try and get out of this bed. He slowly lifted his head and tried to put his legs over the bed and cried out in pain. Oh boy this is not going to work he thought.
“Mr. Reynolds! What are you doing?! Doctor Jackson exclaimed.
“I am trying to get out of this bed and this hospital. I don’t like hospitals doc” Michael said with a frown.
“Well I am sorry you don’t but it’s in your best interest to stay put. You had surgery and you need to save your energy Mr. Reynolds” Doctor Jackson said with concern.
“What happened to me anyway doc?” Michael asked.
“You were shot accidently when you and Mr. Douglass were fighting over a gun. We had to remove the bullet from your stomach and the surgery went well. So you need to relax and get your strength back” Doctor Jackson said.
Michael closed his eyes and tried to remember something or anything.
“Oh I remember meeting Susan at the park and after that I don’t remember much. Where is my wife and is she okay?” Michael asked.
“She is doing well and I told her that you were okay. If she wants to come visit you we will make arrangements for her to be brought up to see you. Now you just lay here and relax. If you need anything for the pain just push the call button and don’t try and get up” Doctor Jackson told Michael.
“Alright doc I will do what you said because I want to get out of here soon” Michael said with a smile.
Well at least I know Janet is doing okay. I wonder how Susan’s husband is doing and I hope he doesn’t come and try to finish me off he thought to himself. Oh well enough of that time to get some sleep.
Charles was about to be discharged and he couldn’t wait to get home. This has all been a nightmare and I never want to go through something like this again. I am going to see Mrs. Reynolds and let her know how sorry I am because no one deserves what her husband and my wife did.
“Okay Mr. Douglas here is your discharge papers. Just need for you to sign here and don’t forget your prescriptions Mr. Douglas” the nurse said.
“Alright that’s it for me. Thank you so much and have a great day” he said.
“You do the same and take care of yourself” the nurse said.
Well time to go see Mrs. Reynolds so I can head home. This arm is starting to hurt so I need to make this quick and get this prescription filled.
Michelle was worried about Janet and she really hoped that she was okay. She says she is but I know her. I will be there for her no matter what. I am so excited she will be around for our baby. It means so much to me.
“Okay do I have horns on my head or are you just admiring my beauty?” Janet asked her smiling.
“Of course your beauty ma’am” Michelle said as they both laughed.
“It feels so good to know that I have you as my best friend. I cherish our friendship and will not let anyone or anything come between us. You are my sister that I never had. I love you Michelle” Janet said with tears in her eyes.
“Awwwww I love you too and nothing will stop me from being there for you. You know mama always said you are her daughter too” Michelle said with tears running down her face.
“Okay enough tears now” Janet said.
“Yes you are right. Let me clean my face.” Michelle said.
There was a knock at their door. Both ladies looked at each other puzzled.
“Come in” Janet said.
“Hello. I hate to bother you ladies. Let me introduce myself. My name is Charles Douglas and Susan is my wife” Charles said.
Both Michelle and Janet gasped.
“I’m not here to cause trouble just wanted to say something regarding my wife if it’s okay. I understand if you don’t want to hear anything from me” Charles said.
“No it’s okay, it’s just that I am shocked to see you here” Janet said with a concerned look on her face.
“I can understand your concern Mrs. Reynolds and I didn’t come here to cause problems. I just wanted to apologize for my wife and her behavior. I never thought she would do something like this and it crushes my soul that she hurt innocent people. Again I am deeply sorry Mrs. Reynolds and I wish you a speedy recovery” Charles said with tears in his eyes.
“It’s okay Mr. Douglas and sometimes we think we know a person and then something like this happens and it makes you wonder did you really know the person at all. Like I told my friend it was a case of blind love. Blinded by love and only seeing only what you wanted to see. We see signs but we come oblivious to the signs. You know I forgive my husband and your wife because it’s the right thing to do so please forgive them both. You will feel better as time goes on. Don’t hold hatred because it will only harden your heart Mr. Douglas” Janet said.
“Wow you gave me something to really think about. I didn’t come expecting this but I am glad I did come. Very wise woman you are and your husband is lucky to have a woman like you in his life. You get some rest and I wish you a speedy recovery Mrs. Reynolds” he said.
“Thank you and its Janet. You get well yourself” Janet said with a smile.
“Well in that case it’s Charles. Take care ladies” Charles said as he walked to the door.
“Wow that was very deep but it turned
out really well. I admire you so much Janet because of despite all what you have been through you still have time to help someone else. You are the best” Michelle said with the biggest smile on her face.
“You know I always love helping people and it makes me feel so good to help others” Janet said.
“Maybe you should be a life coach or better yet a psychiatrist. You might as well help people and get paid for it” Michelle said.
“You are too much” Janet said with a smile.
Chapter 16
This plan has to work, it just has to Susan thought to herself. The judge will throw the book at me so it’s now or never.
“Help! Help! Susan shouted.
A female officer looked up to see what all the noise was about. Probably an inmate playing around like they always do she thought.
“Somebody please help!” Susan screamed.
The officer made it to the cell where Susan was.
“What seems to be the problem over here”? The officer asked.
“I am having pains in my stomach! Please help! I don’t want anything to happen to my baby! Please do something!” Susan screamed.
“Alright! Calm down. I need assistance now!” the officer yelled.
“What is going on?” the other officer asked.
“It’s her stomach and she is pregnant” the officer said.
“I need a nurse ASAP!” the officer said into the phone.
“Just stay calm, help is on the way” the officer said.
“Okay I am trying! It hurts so badly!” Susan cried.
“Okay what is going on?” the nurse asked.
“I am pregnant and having pains in my stomach” Susan told the nurse.
“Okay let me take a look. Lay down so I can see what’s going on” the nurse said.
Susan lay down and when the nurse started to press on her stomach she screamed.
“Alright, alright I am sorry but I have to examine you. Okay I am done now” the nurse said.
“Well what is going on?” the officer asked.
“I am not sure but could be her appendix. She will need to be transported to the hospital for a more thorough exam” the nurse said.
