“Meet me in front of my building in an hour please.” She said.

“Can we make that around five and I’ll be there?” Jeb asked.

  “Okay.” She said.

  “Bye.” He said.

“See you.” Allison said, hanging up.

She walked back over to Zack.

“Well he’s meeting me today to talk!” she exclaimed.

  “See.” Zack said, smiling.

“I hope this works.” She said.

  “It will.” He assured her.

They spent a little more time together then he walked her back to her apartment. They hugged goodbye before Allison went upstairs.

About five, she came back down to find Jeb standing there.

“You wanted to talk.” He said.

“Yeah. I really like you, and I’m really sorry about the other day. I was irrational. I didn’t have the right to be mad at anyone. I was just in shock from seeing Darren and Violet together.” She said.

“I was in shock from all that. I appreciate your apology. We can be friends Ally, but really that’s all we should be for a while.” Jeb said.

“I like you though. I’m not going to see anyone else.” Allison said.

“I can’t promise that. I don’t expect you not to either.” Jeb said.

“We can just be how we were then.” She said.

“Apparently you aren’t happy with that arrangement. It’s fine. We can be friends.” Jeb said.

“I don’t want to be friends.” Allison said, firmly.

“Then I guess this is goodbye.” Jeb said.

  “I guess so.” Allison said.

“Bye.” He said, and turned and walked away.

Allison was crushed. She decided to go back to her dad’s.

“Hey how are you? It’s nice to see you so often all of a sudden.” Her dad said.

“I just need one guy in my life who isn’t going to complicate it.” Allison said.

Her dad laughed. “How is anything complicated? You haven’t even been here a month.”

“I know. I’ve made a mess of everything because that’s just what I do.” Allison explained.

“What did you do?” her father asked.

  Allison explained. Her father laughed.

“Jeb will come around babe. If not there’s always Roger.”

  “What?” Allison asked.

Her father covered his mouth. “Oh nothing.”

  “No tell me.” She demanded.

“I can’t breathe a word.” Her father said.

  “Not fair!” Allison said.

“Very fair.” Her father said, walking off.

Allison shook her head, following behind him. They went in the kitchen and found some brownies.

“My housekeeper Hilda made these. They’re divine.” He said.

Allison took one and tasted it. “Yes they are.”

“So would you like to watch another movie?” her father asked.

“No. Do you want to play tennis?” Allison asked.

“I suck at tennis. Roger might want to.” Her father said.

  Allison groaned. “No!”

“What’s wrong with Roger?” her father asked.

“Nothing. I just don’t want to be around in new men right now.” Allison said.

  “Very well.” Her dad said.

“So are we going to the tennis courts?” Allison asked.

  Her father nodded.

They walked down to the tennis courts of Allison’s father’s and started playing. Roger walked outside. He approached her father.

“Kind of off your game huh?” he teased.

“Oh of course. Would you like to take over?” her father asked.

  “Sure.” Roger replied.

Dad no. I said I didn’t want to play with him Allison thought angrily. Her father handed his racquet to Roger.

  “Are you ready?” Roger asked.

  “Ready.” Allison replied.

They started playing. Roger was an awesome tennis player. Allison couldn’t keep up. He easily beat her twice.

“Good games.” Allison yelled, throwing down her racquet.

“You too. You’re pretty good.” Roger responded.

“You’re crazy. You easily creamed me.” She said.

He laughed. “I know, but I can still tell when someone’s good.” Roger said.

  “Thanks.” Allison said.

“I’m thirsty. Would you like a Coke?” Roger asked.

  “Yeah.” She said.

Roger wandered into the kitchen. Allison flung herself into a chair next to her father.

“See he’s good competition.” Her father said.

  Allison agreed.

“He’s also smart and kind.” Her father said.

“He seems nice. I doubt he’d ever go for me though.” Allison said.

  “How come?” her father asked.

  “You’ve seen him.” Allison said.

“I’ve also seen you.” Her father reminded her.

“Does that mean you think I’d have a chance?” she asked.

  Her father laughed. “Of course.”

“Too bad I’m not looking.” Allison said.

“I wasn’t looking when I found your mother.” Her dad said.

“Look how that turned out.” She reminded him bitterly.

  “That’s true.” He said.

Roger came back out with two glasses of ice and Coke. He handed over to Allison.

  “Thank you.” She said.

  “You’re welcome.” Roger replied.

He took a seat beside of her. Her father got up and excused himself.

“So would you like to ride some horses?” Roger asked.

  Allison’s eyes lit up. “Sure.”

Roger smiled. He led her to the horse stables.

“This is Thunderbird.” He said, petting a big dark brown one.

Allison petted him and he nuzzled her hand.

“Would you like to ride him? I usually ride White Lightning.” Roger said.

  “Sure.” She said.

Allison got on Thunderbird. Roger got on a much bigger white horse.

“I guess you’ve ridden before?” he asked.

  Allison agreed.

“Do you want to race?” Roger asked.

  “Yes!” she yelled.

They raced their horses around the stables and back. Of course White Lightning was much faster so he won most of the time. Allison enjoyed herself though.

When they were done, they got off the horses and walked them around to cool them down.

“I know I just met you so I shouldn’t be saying anything yet but you’re really pretty.” Roger said.

“Thank you. You’re really handsome.” Allison replied.

“Would you like to go out to dinner tomorrow night? I didn’t want it to be weird so I made sure it was okay with your father. I know you aren’t property or anything but I do work for him.” Roger said.

Allison laughed. “It’s fine. I’d like to.”

Roger grinned. He walked over and kissed her. Allison got butterflies.

“I’m going to go put WL up.” He said, blushing as he walked away.

“I have a phone call to make.” She said.

  Allison called Jeb.

  “Yes?” he asked.

“Hey. I was thinking about everything that was said yesterday and you were right. I don’t want to settle down with you. We can be friends.” She rambled.

  Jeb laughed. “Good.”

  “I’m sorry.” Allison said.

  “Me too.” Jeb said.

“I’m glad you forgive me. You do right?” Allison asked.

Jeb laughed again. “Of course. I do like you.”

“I like you too. You’re a nice friend.” She practically whispered.

  Roger was approaching her.

“I’m going to go. Bye.” Allison said.

  “See you.” Jeb said.

Allison hung up. “That was my friend Jeb.” />
  Roger nodded.

They ended up hanging out the rest of the day. Roger took Allison to dinner the next day.

  After dinner, Allison called Darren.

“What do you want?” he demanded.

“I just wanted to apologize. You were right. I had no right to be mad. I should have tried to understand.” Allison said.

Darren sighed. “I’m glad you realize that.”

“It was nice hanging out with you. Would you like the dress you bought me back?” Allison asked.

“No it’s your’s. I’ve got to go. I accept your apology. I’m sorry I was harsh too.” He said.

“I accept too. Bye.” Allison said.

  “Bye.” Darren said, hanging up.

Allison and Roger ended up spending most of the summer together. She still saw Jeb and Zack as friends. She even called Jeb one of her best friends by the end of the summer. Allison made sure though to discuss with Roger every step she wanted their relationship to take. She never wanted any surprises to happen again. Roger happily obliged. Roger was one of the best things that ever happened to her. Luckily her father approved too because he gave Roger lots of time off to explore with Allison. Allison was glad she got to spend time in Paris. Roger was glad too.

  The End

  Paranormal Passenger: Animal Control

  Chapter One

Maggie awoke with a start, her memory fuzzy for several moments. But as she opened her eyes and looked into a stunning face, she felt the ache between her legs from last night’s activities, and it all flooded back. She smiled and greeted Christophe, her vampire lover.

He assisted her in getting dressed and politely offered her a bagel he’d apparently picked up just for her. As she ate, he gave her directions to the werewolf she was destined to find and reminded her not to take the necklace off for any reason. She promised and said her farewells, surprised to find her car parked outside his home. The sun was just peeking over the horizon to the east as he closed the door, and Maggie wished she could have stayed longer or at least shown more gratitude. She also wondered if he’d taken her keys and driven her car or if it was another one of his magic tricks.

It didn't matter now, she supposed as she drove away from what looked like a compound in the coming daylight. Despite the burst of energy Christophe had given her last night, she didn't exactly feel her best today, and it served as a reminder of how little time she had and how much traveling she still needed to accomplish to seek out her conquests.

She shook her head, still wondering why the vampire had been so helpful in suggesting her next stop along the way. And as she reached up to finger the silver chain around her neck, Maggie couldn't understand his insistence at her wearing it for safety. The only explanation she could come up with was that Christophe thought of her as 'his'. She'd heard that vampires created a bond with specific humans and saw them as pets, for lack of a better term. Maybe that was how this man saw Maggie.

She rolled her eyes at her need for logic. Magic itself defied logic, and that meant she couldn't reason on the actions of magical creatures. She had to let it go, or she would drive herself crazy for the next eight hours. She had better, more exciting things to think about. She was headed to the outskirts of Austin, where she was going to seek out this werewolf so she could cross another creature off her list.

She made it as far as Lafayette before she had to stop. Not only did she need gas; Maggie felt drained. She pulled into a Waffle House, the one place she could always trust to be clean with swift service, a place to sit and relax, and plenty of coffee. The waitress seemed to realize she wanted to be alone and didn't try to strike up conversation, only stopping by to give her a warm-up on the coffee.

Maggie took the time to fuel herself with a little protein and caffeine while she went back through some of her materials, reacquainting herself with the information she had on werewolves and following up on some of the other creatures she'd considered, hoping to find an option that would be quick and easy to seek out. Unfortunately, they were all evasive, and she'd gotten lucky with Christophe, and even luckier that he'd sent her straight to a lycanthrope's front door.

When she'd decided she had wasted enough time, Maggie left a generous tip on the table, paid her tab, and got back on the road. Refreshed and enthusiastic, she was determined to make another decent leg of the trip before she stopped again, and she settled on Beaumont. It meant she was at least across the Texas border, and she didn't think she could make it to the next large town before passing out. She already felt dizzy, and as she parked at the convenience store, she had to shut off the car and lean her head back for a minute before she could get out and walk.

Taking the opportunity to use the restroom, Maggie quickly grabbed some more snack food and an energy drink and pulled back onto I-10. Her destination was off the beaten path, and as she exited the highway, the world had already grown dark, with only the light of the moon to guide her. She smiled to herself as she saw it was a full moon, and she knew instinctively that was why Christophe had sent her along with such haste. She'd almost been offended at his shortness today, but now that she understood, she again marvelled at how caring and concerned he was for her.

She followed the directions he'd given, turning on several winding residential streets until she came to the edge of a thick forested area. At the second dirt road to the right, she turned, and she drove for three miles, her tires rolling slowly and crunching loud on the pebbles and rocks in the dirt. Visibility was low, and she could only see a few feet in front of her, even with her high beams on. The moonlight glowed above but barely penetrated the canopy of trees, which grew very close together.

The road narrowed, and to her left stood an outcropping of boulders, her signal to stop and hoof it from there. She grabbed her flashlight, glad she'd thought ahead, and she locked the car, tucked the keys in her pocket, and struck out on foot past the rocks. The ground was treacherous, roots curling out of the ground, jagged rocks stabbing at the soles of her shoes, and thick piles of fallen leaves making it impossible to navigate the uneven ground without tripping over her own feet.

Just as Maggie thought she wouldn't make it any further, she saw a thinning in the trees, and her heart raced. This must be the clearing Christophe had referenced, and as she closed in on it, she heard a bone-chilling howl in the distance. She halted, suddenly unsure of her decision, but she'd dreamed of pursuing magical beasts for so long she knew she couldn't give up when she was so close, no matter how frightening it may be.

Forging ahead, she could see a figure in the midst of the clearing, the light of the full moon accenting his back. The expanse of skin across his shoulders alone made her want to worship at his altar, and the way his jeans were slung low on his hips had Maggie yearning for him to turn around.

As if he could hear her thoughts, he tilted his head like he could hear her coming and turned to stare just to her right, waiting for something to appear with a sharpness that told her he would attack anything that posed a threat. But she couldn't fear this man, no matter how dangerous. He was the epitome of sex appeal, his chest and abs just as tightly muscled with the same smooth skin, and the lines that led down into the waistband of his jeans in a perfect V hinted at the beauty of what lie beneath.

Of course, his face was indescribable, and Maggie knew if she were to write a book about her adventures, she wouldn't be able to find the words. Hollowed cheeks below prominent angled cheekbones accented the sharp point of his chin and the long slim shape of his nose. His brow was heavy but not set low over his eyes, which shone brilliant silver in the darkness. His hair was a soft brown, cropped short, and Maggie was entranced, unable to look away.

As she watched, his body stiffened, and his back arched, an expression of agony clouding his face but not marring his beauty. Maggie frowned, unsure of what was happening until she noticed the sprouting of hair the same color as the ones on his head across large spots on his body. He gasped for air as the pain released him, and he quickly r
emoved the jeans, leaving him completely bare for her perusal. She arched one brow, noting that he was rather large when he wasn't aroused, and she could only imagine his size fully erect.

Another seizure struck him, and this time, she could hear the sound of bones breaking as he fell to all fours. She watched the transformation in complete awe, his knees reversing the direction they bent and his back extending. She saw his nose and mouth elongate into a muzzle and his shoulders rotate to a different position.

It was intriguing and horrifying, and she was so focused on the changes, she barely noticed when they ended and a gorgeous, sandy brown wolf with white markings stood before her. He shook his body from head to toe, turned his eyes to the moon, and howled. This time, the sound sent shivers through Maggie's body, though this time, they were chills of pleasure and not of fear. She wanted to run her hands over the beast, lie with him next to a blazing fire. Most of all, she wanted to be with the man who had just shifted into this incredible creature in the most intimate way.

Her body burning and her center throbbing despite the ache from last night's coupling, Maggie strode slowly and carefully, though with confidence, toward the wolf, leaving all fear behind. The last thing she wanted was to run from this predator who could smell fear and become its dinner. She had every intention of being a completely different sort of prey.

The wolf's eyes still held that bright silver quality but glowed yellow as he stared at her intently. She wondered if the moonlight did such beautiful things to her hair and skin. The wolf was on guard but not in an aggressive stance, and that was good.

She stopped ten feet away, tucking the flashlight in the back of her jeans and holding her hands up where he could see she carried no weapons or cameras. Then, she spoke. "I don't know if you can understand me in that form."

Nothing happened for several heartbeats, and then the wolf gave a very definite nod. She smiled, grateful his anatomical change didn't affect his brain. It would make communication much simpler. "I'm Maggie, and I was sent here by a friend, or rather, an acquaintance, because I need your help."

The wolf tilted his head to the side, as if confused, and she told him, "Actually, that's not entirely accurate. I ask a favor, but I have a feeling it's one you'll be more than willing to give, since I'm offering you something, as well." He bared his teeth, obviously suspicious, and she kept her hands in the air. She told him, "I know your name is Evan Strider, and I know your address, but I obviously came alone and haven't given anything to the media. I don't intend to. I know you and others like you value their privacy. I have no interest in exposing you."
