As a way of building on family values, it was not permitted to talk shop over the dinner table. This pleased Santo for he never understood the complexities of her work and Maria found the tales of his security woes boring. Strangely, each parent found pleasure in listening to Belle’s stories about school and the adventures of her day. For that reason, she did most of the talking. Both were surprised to hear her suddenly announce,

“Did you know that Jessika and Kirk are married?”

Maria froze with a fork halfway to her mouth and said,

“What? No. Who told you that?”

  Belle seemed proud to report,

“After school today I saw them kissing.”

Santo was wise enough to only smile but Maria felt a nurturing need to explain,

“Adults sometimes do that when they love each other but that does not mean they are married.”

It was only after Belle was in bed that the ongoing hectic pace continued. Maria retired to her computers and Santo started his security rounds. He had just approved the placement of security cameras when a message from Zak demanded his time. It was close to midnight.

When Santo entered the computer room, he saw Zak sitting at a large folding table scattered with papers and in that mess were the three alleged Rosetta books. Clearly missing sleep, he looked frazzled. Fatigued red eyes looked over his thick glasses barely making out the approaching Santo. Because of his haggard look, Santo thought that was punishment enough for calling him this late.

While standing at the edge of the cluttered desk, Santo said,

“I didn’t intend to imply there was an urgency in decoding the books. You are permitted to sleep once in a while.”

  A groggy voice responded,

“Yes, of course. It’s just that, at least for me, time can be like quicksand. It swallows me and I forget human necessities like that.”

  Santo then asked,

“What have you got for me?”

“Remember when I told you the Great Gray book was probably a history of their planet? Well, it is not. It is a history of their time here on Earth. Did you know that the Great Grays, in their language called their island, ‘Island from Heaven’ and that later translated to Ile de Celeste.”

It came to Santo very quickly.

“That means the House of the Nazarene was established on the original island the Great Grays settled on.”

  Zak said,

“Can you imagine the secrets hidden on that island before the destruction?”

“I always suspected that there was hidden technology on the island, especially the one allowing us to communicate with the Great Gray planet in real time. Perhaps there was a secret portal or dimensional gate to their planet there as well. Maybe that’s one of the reasons the Duchess wanted to destroy it, so that she could not be sent back.”

He then handed Santo the first few pages of the translated material and said,

“Here, read for yourself. It tells what they did to humanity and why they started the House of the Nazarene.”

It was only Santo’s intention to scan the pages but the first couple of sentences held his attention. He read,

  ***

‘This book is a record telling why we came to this planet. It tells what we did to you and how it greatly influenced your holy writings. Our ancestors did not come to this planet to become your God. You made us your God.

It is we, the ancestors of the Great Grays who came to you long ago who now write to you.

When first coming to this planet we settled on an island in what at that time was called ‘The White Sea’. It was only later that it became the ‘Aegean Sea’. At that time, we of course understood that God created you like all others in the universe. What we could not understand was why you turned out to be killers and heathens. We reasoned that this could not possibly be God’s plan for you. God would not have created you to pray to stone and make war on your brothers.

Looking into that mystery, we eventually discovered a mysterious foreign and intrusive gene in your DNA. We drew the conclusion that it was an artificially inserted code that seriously disrupted the natural course of your evolution. We labeled it the ‘killer gene’ and decided to eliminate it from your DNA.

In an effort to make you perfect again, to eradicate the mysterious killer gene, we took our perfect DNA and genetically adapted it to your barbaric codes. Clearly, humans at that time had no understanding of gene splicing or giving you a genetic upgrade. They naturally related what we did to you by means of their cultural comprehension of it. Instead of saying that we took our DNA and infused it with yours, the humans wrote in their Holy Book,

“And so the Lord put the man in a trance, and while he slept, he took one of his ribs and closed the flesh over the place. The Lord then built up the rib, which he had taken out of the man, into the woman.” (Gen. 2: 21)

“--- bone from my bones, flesh from my flesh. ---” (Gen. 2:23)

There came a time in our history with you that our Great Gray males took human wives and the humans wrote in their understanding of that,

“The sons of gods saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; so they took for themselves such women as they chose.” (Gen. 6:2)

That was the last of the translations. Santo looked to Zak and asked,

“That’s it? The whole book only translates to these few pages?”

As if greatly insulted, Zak snapped,

“No you ungrateful illiterate. Just those few pages took me all this time to translate using only pencil and paper. No, that is not all there is. Without my computer it will take months to finish the rest of the book.”

Quick to recognize fatigue, a condition he had suffered many times, Santo instantly regretted his poor choice of words. He was also quick to ignore the insubordination. In a careful tone Santo asked,

“Because it relates to DNA tampering, I would like to show this to Maria. Do you mind if I make a copy?”

Zak had not lost his foul mood and snapped,

“Yes I mind. The computers have been hacked to flag key words pertaining to the translation and then erasing it. I would worry about even making a copy. Take those hand written pages but bring them back to me.”

As Santo walked away, he tried not to make it sound like a command,

  “Get some sleep.”

  Chapter 56

It was well past midnight before Santo had showered and prepared for bed. He was surprised to see Maria back from her lab and already in bed sound asleep. As to not disturb her, he carefully pulled the covers up and closed his eyes. Just as his head sunk into the soft pillow, Maria turned over and pressed hard against him. In a seductive tone she asked,

“So what has kept my little soldier boy away from me this night?”

Although he was tired, suddenly energy stirred.

Wanting to keep the conversation short and get onto other things, he pretended to make it sound boring.

“Nothing. Just the usual security rounds.”

Although he was wise enough not to ask about her work, he made the mistake of mentioning why he was late coming to bed. The second she heard what Zak was translating and the mention of gene splicing she bolted alert and demanded,

  “Where are those papers?”

  Pointing, he said,

  “Over there on the bureau.”

She tossed the covers aside and ran to the bureau. The next thing he heard was the slamming of the bedroom door and suddenly he was alone. He understood that if he ever learned to keep his mouth shut his sex life might greatly improve.

When he felt her come back to bed, it was early morning. Only an hour later the alarm clock announced that it was time to get Belle ready for school. Santo understood her exhaustion, rolled over and said,

“You get some sleep. I’ll get her ready this morning.”

However, as much as she sometimes claimed it was difficult to get up, he always failed to understand that getting Belle ready for school was one of her
favorite chores.

Just as Belle was ready to run out the door and head for school, Santo got up in time to get a good-bye hug. He then turned around to ask Maria what was on her busy schedule today but she was nowhere in sight. Knowing that she must be exhausted, he reasoned that she had gone back to bed. When he walked into the living room, he saw her collapsed on the couch. It was not the first time he had covered her with a blanket. Before he had a chance to escape, she whispered,

“Zak said that he would have more translations for me around noon. Wake me then okay?”

His reply was a peck on her forehead.

At noon, with a very necessary coffee in hand, Maria walked into the computer rooms. It was clear that Zak had ignored Santo’s suggestion about getting some sleep. She thought the only reason his eyes had not fallen out of his head was due to his thick glasses holding them in. Many more papers were scattered about his desk. When she approached, he did not look up to see who it was. Maria asked,

“What else did you find for me?”

Still not acknowledging the company, nose to the paper and pencil in hand, he replied in a most drained manner,

“You were correct. There is a lot more in the book pertaining to DNA manipulation.”

As he handed her the translated papers she put the coffee cup down and snatched them out of his hand. She eagerly read,

  ***

When it was decided that our sons could take human wives, and have children by them, a new problem surfaced. Which of our pinning men should leave the island in search of human females? We decided to allow the basic laws of nature choose for us and so took genetic readings from all those who wished to take the daughters of man for wives. The weakest or less perfect of the strains, those that developed genetic problems during our adjustment to this planet were given permission to leave, but the strongest or perfect must stay to continue our God given ways with the perfect species.

We imposed new laws to those who left. Once off our island they may never return with their wives and children. In addition, we would not allow any of the parting men to take anything with them, books or tools or anything that might give the humans an indication that we were less than the Gods they thought we were. The deception that the sons of God took human wives must prevail.

As harsh as we thought those restrictions were, many of our lonely males gladly left heaven with only the knowledge that they were superior to the humans. Within a very short time this planet became host to a new species, the half-breeds of the Sons of God and the daughters of man. And the humans wrote in their Holy Book,

“When the sons of gods had intercourse with the daughters of men and got children by them, the Nephilim were on the earth.” (Gen. 6:4)

Due to the compatible genetics, there was only a slight physical difference in the Nephilim. Because we were biased, we naturally thought the half-breed children looked superior to their human mothers. They most certainly became more intelligent than the pure humans. The Nephilim eventually became the wise ones of your race, your kings, judges, artisans, and philosophers. They became the giants of humanity. Giants now walked the earth and as more time passed, the Nephilim traveled the world to become a bright light shining on the evolution of the humans. And the humans wrote in their Holy Book,

“They were the heroes of old, men of renown.” (Gen. 6:4)

Maria eagerly flipped to the next page but there wasn’t any more. Disappointed, they were slowly handed back to him. She was so tired that it was only by the elixir of her strong coffee that she was able to formulate questions. After a long sip and deep thought, she slowly asked,

“Zak, you are a celebrated authority in alien history on Earth. You once told me about Atlantis, the Wandjina in Australia, the Great Earth War between the Rama and Anunnaki Tribes as well as the Dropa aliens in Tibet. What I need from you is a timeline. Who came to Earth first?”

He finally put the pencil down, looked up at her and said,

“That’s not an easy question. There is no definitive answer. There is both speculation as well as some proof that aliens have come to Earth from the time it was able to support life. I personally think that hundreds of extra-terrestrial species have come and gone at one point or other. We have to remember that ---,”

Maria interjected and again he became annoyed.

“No Zak. I want to know who came to this planet first, the Anunnaki or the Great Grays?”

  After slowly contemplating, he muttered,

“There were many other extra-terrestrials on Earth at that time but because the Anunnaki participated in the Great Earth War with the Rama Tribe and the Great Grays came about the time of Adam and Eve, I suspect that the Anunnaki came to Earth before the Great Grays. There is no telling how long the Anunnaki stayed though. About 6,000 years ago they were responsible for the development of the Sumerian Empire but there isn’t much history about them after that empire declined.”

As if to emphasise the point, he shook a finger at her and proclaimed,

“Yes, the Anunnaki came before the Great Grays.”

  More for confirmation, she asked,

“And the Anunnaki claimed they created man from clay, right?”

  He clarified,

“Yes, but the term ‘created man’ is an ambiguous translation. Clearly humans were here before the Anunnaki claimed to have created man from clay. It is thought that the translation might mean they created a ‘new man’ from clay. Or as you suspect, at that time inserted an intrusive DNA code into ours to eventually re-program us to become them. But if you are after a definitive timeline, it would be impossible to be accurate.”

Maria then did some quick mental calculations of her own and more to herself, said aloud,

“So the Anunnaki came first and then the Great Grays came after.”

He seemed very pleased to interrupt, asking,

“That is what I said. Why is that important to you?”

“I need to establish who tampered with the pure human genome first, the Anunnaki or the Great Grays. According to your translation, it was the Anunnaki, and then later on the Great Grays discovered what they called the killer gene and tried to remove it, as I suspect, starting with Adam and Eve.”

Knowing many aliens had been on the planet before the Anunnaki, Zak then drew the logical conclusion.

“It seems to me that the human genome has been a Guinea Pig for tampering and altering by other aliens right from the start. Who knows what you might find in the so-called Dark Matter of our DNA spirals.”

  Maria agreed, adding,

“No wonder I cannot identify and isolate the Anunnaki DNA spirals in our code. There are two alien codes in it, maybe more.”

“Then, as it suddenly came to her, she announced,

“That is why I could not isolate and identify Gustav’s DNA. He is from the Nephilim genetics but now I believe he also carried those other two alien codes as well.”

Zak voiced what he had always suspected,

“No wonder we humans are so screwed up.”

  An epiphany suddenly struck her.

“I need to get hold of Anunnaki and Great Gray DNA so I can identify and isolate them from our spirals.”

  Zak scoffed at the impossibility.

“There are no more Anunnaki and Great Grays left on Earth. Getting those samples will be impossible.”

As she turned and stormed away, he heard her say,

  “Maybe not.”

  Chapter 57

Santo was at his desk going over security protocols when Maria approached. Usually, as anybody else, Santo became annoyed when disturbed, but upon seeing her, he smiled and was glad to be distracted. He produced a sly expression, winked and teased,

“I see that you have come to make up for running out of our bed last time. Okay, but it will have to be fast. I’m really busy.”

Unfortunately for his libido, it was an impassive reply.

  “I’m busy too.”

  She then threw the tea
se right back at him.

“You will have to call my secretary and make an appointment.”

Although he maintained his smile, he wondered when the magic of spontaneity had disappeared from their relationship.

He recovered quickly, smiled that smile and asked,

“What can I do for a beautiful lady today?”

She laughed at his flirt and replied,

“Has it really been that long?”

She saw in his sad expression that it really had been. Quickly wanting to change the subject, she said,

“I need security approval to talk to Edward about an important matter.”

Surprised at the request, he responded,

“You do not need security clearance to do that. You have that disc he gave you.”

“I know, but with these new security codes in effect I just want to be careful.”

Understanding that she still had scars from the last time she broke security, he retained his playful demeanor and put comedic authority in his voice.

“Very well Professor, tell me why you need to contact him.”

  She said,

“Okay. A few years ago do you remember when Edward requested the DNA of Liana and Quastima as representatives of the Sky People?”
