Brendon and Lindsey were also being pulled down, but they were so far away she'd never be able to reach them. She didn't mind. If they wanted her knife or her shield, they'd have to find her first.
Halfway to the ground, a strange green stone in the distance caught her attention. It stuck out of the middle of a platform at the very bottom of the dimension. It was massive yet perfectly smooth on every side.
If the Pillar of Immortality did exist, it was that stone. Everything about it, its color, its shape and especially its location, was too precarious for it to be anything short of supernatural.
Ellen landed on her feet on a dingy platform at the very top of the dimension. A wriggling mass of claws and spikes and tendrils and other awful appendages was already rushing up to greet her.
She felt her pocket to make sure her coin pouch was still inside. "Sorry Ludendi," she mumbled. "Sorry Barry, and Trevor. We'll meet again, but it's going to take a little longer than I first thought."
The creatures rushing towards her were all disgusting in their own unique ways, but they were small. If she could stand up to the colossal monster that had appeared in the Forlorn Dimension and make it out alive, then none of these little things could ever pose a threat to her.
Ellen charged down to meet the horde. Already she knew the Brazen Dimension was going to be an awful place, but she had no intention of letting it defeat her. The hordes it threw at her would only make her stronger, and if she was lucky, the Pillar of Immortality might end up being real after all.
