by J. A. Kerr
“Did you know he was planning to write a book?”
Siena gave a bitter laugh. “He always wanted to.”
The DI nodded. “He was obsessed with DNA. All his notes pointed at DNA being the biggest contributing factor in arrest and conviction. He recorded everything he needed to commit the perfect crime. It was all there, how he would drug Katie, take hair from her or her hairbrush and plant it at your home. It was while she was unconscious he took her coat and boots to plant at the scene. He rented the hire car in her name and detailed how he would press her fingers on the hire car keys to provide the police with further DNA evidence. Planting her coat in the car was next to incriminate her further. He made a point of making clear prints with Katie’s boots at the burial shit. He took hair and other trace evidence from Katie and planted it in your car and in the twins’ bedroom. Completely suited and gloved, it explained the inconsistencies with the fingerprints…why we had Katie’s prints on the car keys but not inside the house or on the shovel.”
“Yes,” said Benedict. “That does explain a lot.”
“He was so clever,” whispered Siena, “he thought of everything.”
“Yes, I have to agree with you,” said DI Clark. “If he hadn’t dropped the pen he might have got away with it.” He gave a little shudder. “I wouldn’t have solved the case without Evan’s help.”
“Just in the right place at the right time. It got a bit hairy at the end but Guy came through with the address,” said Evan.
“Yes,” the DI said dryly. “I’ve spoken to Guy about his error not phoning it through and approaching someone as dangerous as Waters without backup!”
“Duly noted,” said Guy a little shamefaced.
“We found large volumes of data on Siena Harrison on Katie’s computer. Google searches on your home address and orders for Propofol were also found. We’ve not tracked down the hacker that planted the evidence—that will take time. We may never get the person responsible,” sighed the DI. There was more information he could share but Anna didn’t need to know Nick’s back up plan of killing and freezing her.
“But it’s over,” said Siena. “He can’t hurt us anymore.”
“Thank God,” said Anna bitterly.
“Has he been buried?” asked Siena
“Cremated as far as I know,” said the DI. “Nick Waters’ reign of terror is over for good. There are some loose ends to tie up but, in my opinion, the case is closed.” He glanced at his watch and stood. “I need to get going.”
Guy held out his hand. “Thank you for updating us.” The DI smiled and they shook. “Just doing my job.”
Guy saw him to the door.
“Evan, I wanted to thank you personally,” said Benedict.
“I don’t work alone, it was a team effort,” said Evan.
“Please thank them for me,” said Benedict.
“I will. They are the best. I’m proud to work with them.”
“Will you continue with your membership at the club?”
“Yes, I will, now things have settled down. I’m looking forward to it,” said Evan.
Benedict drilled him with his gaze. “Good, I’m glad.”
“Actually, I met someone at the club.” Evan’s smile was shy. “I like her very much.”
Benedict leant in closer. “That seems to happen a lot…I met Siena there, too.”
Guy looked at Evan’s astonished face. “What did I miss?”
“Nothing,” said Benedict smoothly. “Just thanking Evan.”
“I owe you big time, Evan. If there is ever anything you need…”
Evan glanced behind him where Siena and Anna where talking. “There is something but I’ll pop into the club to discuss it.”
“I’m not working there anymore,” said Guy, “but you’ve got my mobile number. Just give me the date and time and I’ll be there.”
Evan’s face fell.
“I need to be around, to help Anna, but I can work on and off,” said Guy quietly, noticing Benedict’s look of surprise and delight.
“I wasn’t going to consult but Anna will be working full-time soon. So I can help out a few days at the club.”
“Great,” beamed Evan. “I’ll definitely be in touch.”
After seeing him out, Guy walked back to join his partner and friends. He was bursting to tell them his news but Anna had sworn him to secrecy. However, today was more about putting their demons to rest and Guy was glad to say it had.
The Braille Club Reborn
Epilogue
Siena knew as soon as she saw the location and the building that her search was over. From Nick’s ashes they would rebuild. The letter from his lawyer saying Siena would inherit his wealth was an unpleasant shock but she would use that money to invest in the business. She submitted an offer well under the asking price but then again it was still a buyers’ market. She was surprised to learn it had been accepted. Nestled in over 300 acres of Sussex countryside it was their newest acquisition and would become Harrison’s Country Club. All members would have access to both club houses. The country club would offer an 18 hole golf course together with a number of other sporting activities including archery, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding etc.
Sienna had three weddings on the books already, one of which was her own and Benedict’s. The other surprise announcement was Guy and Anna were getting hitched. Siena had grown very fond of Anna—fierce, independent, kind and loyal. Her outer armour hid the warmth and sweetness underneath. Not content with that surprise, Anna also announced she was pregnant. Benedict’s mouth had fallen open in utter shock. After lots of hugs and congratulations, they gave them their news—they were moving. Their new home in the country, a spectacular sprawling mansion superbly renovated, was in move-in condition. Another bargain purchase, the high end property became available just as the market nosedived. The house price was reduced again and again. With Harrison’s being managed by Sasha and the Braille Club under new management, they no longer needed to base themselves in London. Max and Gabriella Ballantyne were working with Guy and Benedict to learn the nuts and bolts of the business.
Contractors were working flat out to renovate the club to their unique specifications. Benedict, a family man himself, had wanted to offer his members a more child friendly environment as well as superb sporting facilities. They had been unsure of the Braille element and how they would incorporate it into the country club but to their amazement found demand higher than ever. Benedict and Guy would spend their time recruiting the best childcare professionals available. Now Anna was expecting a baby, they were both keen to ensure this element was secured. Anna amazed Siena, she was due her baby any day but continued to work from home. She secured a senior partner’s job in her firm before she fell pregnant and confessed to Siena, she doubted she would have got it if they had known. But Anna would not let their disapproval get in the way of what she wanted and Siena applauded her for it.
At the Braille Country Club they would work to a different format. The response for membership had been overwhelming. Exhausted but eager parents were ready for their zones by 8.30pm and their beds by 9.30pm. It was like the flood gates of London had opened. Day zones would be created to meet demand while children were occupied with afternoon activities. Alpha mummies—fresh from the rigours of natural childbirth—were sure to make any seasoned Patron rethink their game.
Both Guy and Siena were developing new experiences for this set of wealthy and demanding members. With the countryside came the option to have an outdoor zone, the scenery surrounding them secluded, but deliciously open to the elements. With the space came unlimited possibilities, the medium of water was being tested in a new wet zone, unusual shower heads delivering unusual sensations.
From corporate mummies to stay-at-home daddies, from competitive power families to celebrity family broods, they all had insatiable appetites, for, once tasted, the Braille Club was not forgotten…
The Braille Club: imagine a place where you close your eyes and
extraordinary things happen to you and to your senses. Unbearable anticipation as you step inside this world. Heights of pleasure never experienced before; where only touch leaves a memory. Not just the awakening of your senses but the sharpening of them. You will embark on a journey that will leave your senses ensnared and where every expectation is surpassed. Welcome then, welcome to the world of a select group who walk in the dark, to see the light. Who need to be blind...before they can see.

About the Author
I was born in the spring of 1967 at Paisley’s Ross Hospital in Scotland and grew up in Glasgow. I was an office administrator and latterly a recruitment consultant before marrying and relocating to The Netherlands with my husband. After two years, I moved to Cheshire where my first child was born and returned to work part-time. My final relocation took me back to my home town of Glasgow where I welcomed the arrival of my second child. I raised my family whilst harbouring dreams of becoming a writer. In September 2013, I took the plunge and started my first book.
When I set out to write these books, I wanted to create something that mirrored exactly the kind of books I like to read. My top picks are always originals featuring strong male and female protagonists with attitude. The Braille Club Series books are a great mix of genres. Although sensuality plays a big part, there is also intrigue and a touch of thriller.
I love to connect.
