Shattered (Shattered Souls MC Book 1)

My eyes snap open and lock with his. The blue is so intense, so full of lust and longing. It’s fucking hypnotic.
My body is hitting the wall with his intensity and my back begins to arch. I start feeling a tingle, the waves of my orgasm crashing over me. Leading me to the edge where I fall over, looking into his eyes as I moan his name. He keeps pumping into me a few minutes more before he comes again.
We hold onto each other, letting the water help relax us. When we catch our breaths, he holds my chin, keeping my gaze on him. “I’m gonna marry you, Harper Kingsley.”
My heart explodes and my eyes fill with tears. The love he has for me is undeniable. It’s not said in words often, but I feel it every day. I’m meant to be with him, I know that. Coming back to him was never an option. It was destiny.
We end up washing each other, leading to another orgasm each, before we finally make it to bed. I fall asleep in his protective arms, thinking I never want it to end.
The ringing of my phone wakes me and I groan reaching for it. I look at the time and it’s only seven in the morning, but I notice it’s Ivy and my heart picks up.
“Hello?”
As soon as I say it, Zane jumps up looking at me.
“Harper, I just came outside and there is something on your car. It’s an envelope and I’m too afraid to open it.”
Fuck. “Okay, we’ll be there in a minute.” I hang up and look at Zane. “Ivy found an envelope on my car. We need to get over there.”
We both jump up and dress quickly. Zane is on the phone telling Kace and Riley to meet us. Five minutes after the call we are on our way. My heart is pounding and he knows because he rests his hand on mine. I rest my head against his back and try to calm down.
We pull up at the same time as Kace and Riley. I don’t bother going to her door, Zane pulls the envelope off the windshield and tears it open.
I told you to stay away. Your club knows. You brought this on yourself.
Not only is there a note, but a picture of Zane and me hugging.
Zane squeezes the note in his hand. “Fuck,” he yells. “We need to get to the club.”
“Wait, I need to warn Ivy. It’s my fault she’s now in danger,” I say, looking between him and her door.
“Go, we’ll bring Ivy back with us,” Kace says.
I don’t want to go, but Zane pulls me to his bike. As we drive off, Kace is at the door talking to her. She’s gonna be so pissed at me. The last thing she wanted was to be mixed up in the club, nevermind both of them. It’s why she was nervous about driving my car. Now I’ve brought it to her door, literally.
We pull up to the club, the anger is rolling off of him. Brooks and Enzo are there when we walk in. “I’m fucking over this shit,” Zane yells, throwing the newest note at them.
Enzo reads it and shakes his head. “Who the fuck is it?” he growls.
“Whoever it is, is the one who told Kingsley. They set this in motion,” Brooks says.
“They’re fucking dead,” Zane hisses.
I sit down and drop my head into my hands. It’s never gonna end. Not until my father has what he wants, me.
“Harper, can you think of anyone? Someone you’ve got trouble with?” Enzo asks.
I shake my head, not lifting it. “Only Shattered Souls,” I breathe out.
“Well it’s sure as fuck not us,” yells Zane.
My mind starts spinning. I know it’s not Zane, never thought for a second it was. But what if it’s all just a great cover? What if this is their ultimate revenge? Listening to how pissed Zane is and how the other two are trying to calm him down, it makes something snap.
I jump up and my chair falls behind me. They all turn and look at me, staring like I’m fucking crazy and maybe at this point I am. “You wanted me here to get to my father. You wanted to make sure he suffered. You were willing to put my life on the line to get what you needed. Forgive me if I have a hard time believing you are all innocent,” I yell, crossing my arms. More so to protect myself from the look on Zane’s face.
He’s pissed, no he’s livid. His eyes are narrowed, his jaw is twitching, and he’s all but panting. Brooks and Enzo look at me with pitying eyes, which enrages me. I’d rather deal with Zane’s anger than their pity. I don’t want anyone’s pity.
“What the fuck did you say?” Zane asks calmly. Only there is nothing calm about him. He’s ready to kill. I stand my ground, not saying a word and he steps closer. His eyes are drilling into me, causing me more pain than it should.
“Z, relax,” Enzo says, putting his hand on his shoulder.
Zane knocks it off and steps in front of me. “After all we’ve done, you can still question our loyalty? My fucking loyalty?”
“Fuck,” I scream, turning my back to him. I’m so pissed, I don’t know what to do with the anger. I’m fucking confused and hurt.
“Harper, you have every right to question us. You owe us nothing, just like we owe you nothing. The difference is that you feel like an outsider and we don’t consider you one,” Brooks says. “Z, come with us for a minute. You both need to calm the fuck down.”
When I hear them all go to the back, I sit back down. He’s right, I do feel like an outsider. Maybe that’s the problem or maybe that’s the plan. I really don’t fucking know what I believe anymore. The only thing I know for sure is my father will be home soon and I need to decide what I’m going to do.
“I can fucking walk.” I lift my head and see a very pissed off Ivy walking in as she swats away Kace’s hand. If she didn’t look like she wanted to kill me, I’d laugh at the situation. “What the fuck, Harper.”
“Fuck, I’m sorry, Ivy. I didn’t know shit was going to go down like this. I’d never have asked for you help if I thought it would put you in danger,” I say.
I stand up and hug her and thankfully she hugs me back. “I’ve been kidnapped.”
This time I do laugh as I pull away from her. “Kace and Riley are trying to keep you safe, they didn’t kidnap you.”
“You’d think it with the fight she put up,” Riley says laughing. “Where’s Z?”
I nod to the back and he starts to walk away and looks back at Kace. “I’ll be there in a minute.” He steps to us and looks between us both. “She’s not easy,” he says, walking away.
I laugh and sit down with her. “What the hell did you do?”
She lifts a shoulder. “Apparently they don’t like hearing no.”
I know it’s fucked up, but I kind of hope they make her stay. It would be nice to have her here to keep me sane. Well, as sane as someone that might die soon.
Chapter 17
Zane
I know I overreacted when Harper said that, but I couldn’t help myself. I’m not sleeping, I’m on constant alert, and still shit keeps happening. The Souls have nothing to do with it, that I’m positive of. What is fucking eating at me is I have no idea who it is. Someone who has it out for Harper, that’s for damn sure.
“What about an ex?” Enzo questions.
An ex, fuck. I never even considered that. I don’t even know who she's been with. I light another smoke and lift my shoulder. “Possible, no fucking idea.”
“Maybe someone from Kingsley’s crew?” Kace offers. “They might want to keep the order.”
Makes sense, they are a bunch of fucking assholes. I wouldn’t put it past one of them to try to blackmail her.
“It all makes sense, but we aren’t gonna figure it out sitting around. We need eyes and ears out there,” I say.
“She could go to the cops,” Riley says.
“Yeah great idea, that’s exactly what we need crawling up our asses,” Brooks growls, shaking his head. “We do what Z said, get out there and see what we can find out.”
I hit the joint Kace hands me and hand it back. “Listen, she doesn’t trust us. It pisses me off, but I get it. Let’s just take tonight and chill out. Have some drinks, watch some strippers, and eat cause I’m fucking starving,” I say, looking around.
r /> “I’m always down for getting drunk and watching tits,” Riley replies, laughing.
“Good idea, but I have an angry wife waiting for me, so I need to get home,” Enzo states.
We all laugh because we know how Nora is. I’m glad when Brooks says he’s going too, because I think Harper relaxes more when those two aren’t around. We all get up and Kace grabs my elbow. “What the fuck do we do with Ivy?”
“What do you mean?”
He blows out a breath and runs his hands through his hair. “She’s here and she doesn’t wanna be. I didn’t know what else to do with her.”
I laugh and slap his back. “Weird, you always seem to know what to do with a chick.”
“Fuck you,” he hisses as we head back out.
Harper and Ivy are sitting together and as soon as Ivy sees Kace her face flashes with anger. I laugh and turn to him. “Damn, what the fuck did you do?”
“Nothing, fuck. I told her it wasn’t safe and she needed to come with us. She started screaming, trying to hit me, and shit,” he says, crossing his arms.
“Well, you need to come make nice.”
We get to the table they are sitting at and I lean down, pressing a kiss to Harper’s soft lips. “Hey, babe.” I lean over and kiss Ivy’s cheek. “Hey, sweetheart, sorry we had to get you outta there so fast. You alright?”
“Hey, Zane, I’m doing alright.” Her eyes flash to Kace and pure hatred fills them. “I’d rather be at home, but someone dragged me out.”
“What the fuck are you so pissed at me for? I’m trying to help you,” Kaces growls.
“You always drag women out of their homes when they tell you no? Isn’t that what you guys are good for, showing women no respect?” she yells.
“Hey, that’s a fucking stereotype and it’s a bullshit one. You’ll never find guys more loyal or respectful of women,” Harper says.
Ivy stands up and waves her hand around the club. She’s pointing out all the men hanging around the stage. All the chicks on stage with their tits out, shaking their asses. “Oh yeah, it’s extremely clear.”
Finn drops off a couple of beers and I sit down, wrapping my arm around Harper’s shoulders. “A strip club is a legitimate business. The girls make great money and they aren’t forced to be here, they want to be here. Just because this is our business, doesn’t mean we don’t respect women.”
“Just drink your beer and relax,” Kace says, pushing a bottle closer to Ivy.
“I’m good,” she retorts, pushing it back.
I look over at Harper and she shrugs. “We’re gonna order some food, do you want to wait until you eat?” I ask.
“Nope,” she says.
Harper laughs lightly and reaches out to touch her hand. “Do you want something else to drink?”
“Do you not drink?” Kace questions, throwing back his beer.
Ivy turns her heated eyes to him. “I drink, I just don’t take free drinks from men in a strange bar after they’ve kidnapped me,” she hisses.
We all laugh, but she finds no humor in the situation. “I didn’t fucking kidnap you, fuck,” Kace growls.
At that exact moment Riley pulls a chair over. “Hey, why’s the chick you kidnapped look so pissed?”
“I didn’t fucking kidnap her,” Kace yells, getting up to go to the bar.
We are all laughing, until Harper hits me and Riley. “Alright guys come on. Kace is pissed and Ivy is scared.”
“Why the hell are you scared? We didn’t really kidnap you, I was fucking around,” Riley says.
“Shut up, Harper,” she whispers.
My muscles tighten and I pull Harper closer. What the fuck are they hiding? Did more happen and she doesn’t want me to know? “What the fuck is going on?” I ask, looking between them.
Kace comes back with shots for us all, except Ivy. I toss mine back, but my eyes never leave Harper’s.
“This isn’t a world or life that Ivy wants to be around. It’s different and scary for her. She had a normal life,” Harper says, giving Ivy an apologetic face.
“You’re scared of us?” Kace asks, frowning.
“Yes, alright? Is that what you want to hear?” Ivy replies as her brown eyes narrow at Harper.
I look at Kace and Riley. They have the same look, like she slapped us. “Why the fuck would we want to hear that? We don’t want you scared of us,” Kace says.
“We aren’t bad guys, Ivy. We have a club that makes us family, it’s no different than your family,” I say.
She laughs a humorless laugh and crosses her arms. “I’ll ask my parents, oh shit right, they’re dead I can’t ask them,” she says.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Riley says, tipping his beer at her.
“Are you?”
“Ivy, they aren’t assholes to the people they love and respect. Of course they’re sorry to hear about your parents,” Harper says. “Come on, I’ll go to the bar with you and I’ll personally get you a drink. I think you need it.”
Ivy doesn’t argue, she follows closely behind Harper. “We really come off as scumbags to people outside the club, don’t we?” Kace asks, a bit of sadness in his eyes.
“We can’t change what people think of us, but we can try to change Ivy’s mind. Maybe start by apologizing for forcing her here,” I say. Kace is watching Harper and Ivy, but I know he heard me. He’s just paying no attention to me. It hits me and I smile. “You fucking like her.”
He snaps his head to me and leans back in the chair, grabbing his beer off the table. “What? Fuck no I don’t. Just sucks she thinks so little of us.”
“Cause you thought she’d be on her knees for you later,” Riley says laughing.
“Fuck you, and stop thinking about my dick all the time.”
It’s been a long time since Kace has been interested in someone. After he was shot and Rachel fucked him over, he’s just kept it casual. He’s my best friend and I want him fucking happy, but he’s got his work cut out if he thinks he’s gonna hook up with Ivy. Especially after what she just said.
The girls come back and Harper has drinks for us all. After she passes them out, I pull her onto my lap. I wrap my arms around her and place a trail of kisses up to her ear. “I’m sorry about before, babe. Are you alright?”
She presses her lips to mine and I open my mouth, welcoming her warm tongue. I move my hands to her hair and deepen the kiss. Her nails are digging into my shoulders and she moans when I bite her bottom lip.
“Seriously?” Ivy groans.
I ignore Ivy and keep my eyes on Harper. “Babe?”
She smiles and rests her hand on my cheek. “I’m good. I’m sorry too,” she whispers.
“I just want to keep you safe and shit keeps happening to harm you. It’s killing me,” I say.
She presses a soft kiss to my lips and hugs me tight. “I know, baby, but I’m safe with you.”
“Is this what we do? Watch these two work their shit out all night?” Ivy asks, causing everyone to laugh.
“Not all the time, but it’s nothing new,” Kace says.
“Fuck you,” I say, with a smirk. “Don’t be jealous.”
He flips me off and waves Finn over.
“So what that kid just brings endless drinks all night? You guys watch these two work their shit out, while tits bounce all over?” Ivy questions.
We all once again start laughing. She might not be trying to be funny, but she’s definitely got a smart mouth you wouldn’t expect from her. She’s all of five feet tall, blonde hair, brown eyes, exactly what you’d picture the girl next door to look like. She gives the impression that she’s a timid, soft voiced, angel. The girl I’ve watched so far tonight is anything but.
“Yeah pretty much,” Riley says.
“Exciting,” she says, rolling her eyes.
I leave them to it for a few minutes. I tell Finn to order some food and go back to my room for a second. It takes me a little bit to find what I’m looking for, but I grin when I do. I take a second to loo
k around the room. Harper’s clothes are tossed around, her makeup on the dresser, and her shoes on the floor. The room even smells like her now. I blow out a breath and head back out.
“Here,” I say, handing the book to Ivy. “I’m still the same guy, just older.” She and Harper look at the old yearbook and at each other. “We were friends once. I’m just trying to make you understand that we aren’t bad guys.”
The girls look through the book, laughing. I know she never wanted to be associated with us, nevermind be in this club, but shit changes. It wouldn’t be the worst thing if she stuck around.
After pizza, a lot of alcohol, and more talking, Ivy is finally having fun. Her and Harper are dancing, laughing, and still drinking.
“So, you guys all went to high school together?” Kace asks, watching them like I am.
Riley left with one of the Soul girls, so it’s just the two of us now.
“Yeah we did. They were always good friends, but she didn’t like the clubs,” I say, never taking my eyes off of Harper. The way her hips are swaying, her tits are bouncing, and her hair is falling all around her, I’m having a hard time looking away. “Pretty sure she’s single.”
He stiffens next to me, but I don’t say anything. “Good for her,” he mumbles.
“Yeah it is good,” I say, this time glancing at him. “You like her?”
“I don’t even know her,” he replies.
I laugh and finish off my beer. “Doesn’t mean you can’t like her, brother.”
“Z,” Finn yells and I get up. I get over to the bar and he hands me the burner phone. “It’s Brooks.”
“Yeah?”
“Be at the table at nine tomorrow morning,” he says.
“You called the burner phone for that shit?”
He’s quiet for a minute before I hear the anger in his voice. “Maybe if you answered your own fucking phone instead of chasing pussy, I wouldn’t need to get a hold of you another way.”
“Watch it,” I hiss.
“You’re still part of this club, Z. You need to start fucking acting like it,” he says and hangs up.
