Never the Same Page 21

Paige raised an eyebrow at Lennox. “No. You need to publish it.”

  “But why?” Lennox pouted.

“Everything you wrote about the importance of music and how it connects us as people is unerring and you expressed it beautifully. People have to read this,” Paige said.

  “Do you mean that?”

“Yes.” Paige nodded. “Lennox, this is my blog. If I didn’t believe in you, in your creativity, in your heart, I would have never asked you to guest post.”

  “But I’m not like you. I’m not a writer. I’m a musician.”

Paige pressed her index finger to the tip of Lennox’s nose. “Careful with those labels.” She smirked. “You are like me. You’re an artist.”

  Lennox smiled. “Damn. You’re good.”

“And you make me better.” Paige winked. “So please publish your post.”

“If you wink at me again, I’m going to have my way with you between these sheets. And that’s a promise.”

  Paige pursed her lips. “Noted.”

Lennox exhaled. “Okay. Are you certain that you want to us to go public with this? It’ll be all over the internet, on your site.”

  “I’m certain.”

“Aargh. What if you lose followers because of it? Huh?”

  “I won’t,” Paige said.

  “But what if you do?”

Paige shrugged. “I’ll take my chances.”

  “I have an inquiry.”

  “Ask away.”

“You know how we had musical sex?” Lennox asked.

  “Uh huh.”

“Is this like…prose sex for you?”

Paige smiled. “I’m not gonna lie. It definitely made me wet watching you type.”

Lennox bit her lip. “Is that a yes?”

  “Yes. Satisfied?”

“Very.” Lennox grinned and hit a button on the computer’s keyboard, publishing the post. She looked at Paige. “There. Satisfied?”

“Wicked.” Paige held up her hand. “Wait. It’s happening.”

  “What is?”

  “My mental orgasm.” Paige winked.

Lennox laughed. “Hey! You winked! I warned you.”

  Paige smirked. “Oh. I know.”

Lennox glanced around the room. Her eyes fell back on Paige. “How long do we have this room to ourselves for?”

Paige shut the laptop and moved it to the table beside her bed. She shifted onto her left side, turning toward Lennox. “Until noon.”

Lennox rolled slightly to the right, her body facing Paige’s. “What time is it now?”

  “2 a.m.”

Lennox kissed Paige softly, then put her mouth to Paige’s ear. “So many hours to do so many things,” she whispered. “Also, you might’ve mentioned earlier in the car that I was destined to come.” Her gaze met Paige’s. “And I’m not coming or going anywhere without you.”

“What if your arrow changes its direction?” Paige asked.

  “It won’t.”

  “But what if it does?”

“It won’t, but I’ll take my chances.” Lennox smiled. “Because I love you.” She touched Paige’s face. “For what I see here.” She touched Paige’s forehead. “In here.” She put her hand to Paige’s chest. “And in here.”

Paige took Lennox’s face in her palms, staring for a moment—their moment—at her lover, her partner, her first love, her last love. Finally, Paige smiled at Lennox and spoke. “I love you, too. All of you.”
