Wilde Nights was by far the easiest of the five books to write. Jude was just too much fun.
Book 2, Wilde for Her, was harder. Not because I didn’t enjoy the characters or story—I adore Cam & Eva—but I was writing the book while coping with the death of a family member, and the words came very slowly.
The hardest to write was definitely number 3. Shelby was an awesome character—but Reece? I struggled with him. I couldn’t seem to get into his head. I struggled with this book for a full year before Heather and I realized I couldn’t in fact write a Brazen. I enjoyed my suspense plots too much, so we shifted the series over to the Ignite imprint. Once I no longer had to keep the plot suspense-light, Wilde at Heart finally came together and became the longest book in the series.
Book 4, Running Wilde, was my second favorite to write. Vaughn and Lark just ignited off each other from page one, and the road trip trope was so much fun to work with.
And, finally, this book. It was emotionally draining, especially the epilogue. I spent three whole days on the epilogue, wanting to get it just right, and I hope I did. So far, it’s my favorite thing I’ve written.
Saying goodbye to the Wilde boys is bittersweet. On the one hand, they gave me lots of trouble. A book wasn’t a Wilde Security book until I started *headdesking* out of frustration. But on the other hand, they gave me lots of laughs and happy tears. It’s kind of like saying bye to family I’ll never see again—even now I’m getting choked up at the thought of never returning to the Wilde Security office. But I’m happy the boys got their happily ever afters, and I look forward to seeing where their friends—HORNET, Tucker Quentin, and Zak Hendricks—will take me next.
It’s been a wild ride, hasn’t it?
Acknowledgments
Shout outs: Heather Bogucki won a contest several years ago and gave me such a great name for Greer’s heroine. It was perfect on so many levels—you have no idea. Thanks, Heather. Marsha Williams, another contest winner who suggested Greer’s nickname for Natalie, “angel”. I couldn’t have picked a better one myself! Linda Clarkson, you rock so hard for suggesting the title of this book!
As always, thanks to my editor, Heather Howland, and the rest of the staff at Entangled. I love you guys!
And my street team, the Honeys—you are my favorite people. *hugs*
