“He can do it.”
“Do what?”
“Have a seat.” Culann pulled out the third chair and lowered his voice, casting a look at the farmers. “It’s better if we don’t have to shout.”
Finn sighed. The night was starting to catch up to him and all he wanted was his bed. But he sat and listened to the shifter.
“Goldwyn needs a particular flower that only grows in the inner gardens of the Court. I told her you could get in there and steal it and be back out with none the wiser.”
“A flower?” Finn snorted. “You want me to risk my neck for a flower?”
“I’ll make it worth your while.”
“I don’t know. The inner bailey is protected by very heavy spells, as well as a guard.”
Goldwyn leaned in closer. “Culann says you can disappear.”
Finn gave his friend a hard look. “Not exactly. I’m still there, just walking on the other side of a dimension. It doesn’t mean that the sentries won’t have magic able to detect me, or that I won’t trip any of the defensive spells.”
“I can pay you.” Goldwyn pulled out a small heavy bag and started to unknot the strings at the top.
Culann put his hand over the bag and her hands stilled. “Maybe you shouldn’t bring that out here.”
“What is it?” Finn glanced at the bar. The men appeared to be nothing more than rough, uneducated peasants, but in Underhill, looks could be deceiving.
The witch frowned. “It’s nothing. Just money.”
Finn nodded. He glanced back at the men at the bar. “Never reveal what you have to strangers. Rule number one of dealing in these kinds of places.”
“What kind of place?” Goldwyn tucked the purse back into her cloak, glancing around the bar and wrapping the folds tightly around her.
“A public one.” He gave her his most charming smile. “You can pay. That’s good. But I’m not risking my neck inside the castle just for money. I can pull off a much simpler job and earn three times what you can pay. Do you have anything else to bargain with?” He’d barely escaped of the outer bailey of the Crimson Court, he wasn’t risking his neck inside the actual inner bailey of the complex unless it was worth it—well worth it.

DEAR READER,
Thanks so much for reading Ardan’s and Thorn’s story. Out of all the books I’ve written, this one was the most unexpected. When I started writing this series, I had no idea that I could, or would, redeem my very evil villain—The Black Queen.
But as I wrote HUNTED and CURSED, I got to know Aeval, I became more familiar with her backstory. How terrible to have such a shattering event that your personality splits into three, just to protect your inner self. By the time I hit ENCHANTED I knew she needed a happy ending, and what better hero than someone else who also was scarred in such a terrible way.
That’s one of the amazing things about romance—everyone can have a happy ending. Everyone can find true love. Even the most damaged are redeemable. You’ll find that I continue to redeem bad boys and damaged heroines in the rest of the series, as well as twisting all your favorite fairy tales. And guess what’s next?
That’s right, the much awaited Cinderella story, HIDDEN. Oooh! I can’t wait!
If you read ROMANCED, you’ll be familiar with some of Ella’s backstory...no, I’m not giving you any more hints, but let’s just say that some evil queen’s stay evil.
