Once Nix got his cockhead in, it was smooth sailing. Eli clutched at the sheets and begged Nix to truly ride him.

“My kitten likes it fast and hard, hmm?” Nix asked, hilt-deep in him now.

“Just shut up and fuck me.”

Nix began to really move then, ramming in and out of him, his strokes penetrating and deep.

  “Touch yourself,” Nix commanded.

Eli began fisting his cock, groaning at the duel sensations of pleasure from Nix’s thrusts and his own hand. The pressure began vibrating inside him again, traveling from his prick to the rest of him until it was too much to bear. When Nix changed angle and hit his sweet spot, Eli cried out at the intense sensation.

“Fucking like that?” Nix grinned obscenely and drove into that spot again.

Eli growled, clutching at his shoulders, hungry for physical contact as their bodies joined over and over again. He raked his nails across Nix’s tanned and inked back, feeling the edge of Nix’s teeth on the side of his neck. A warning bell rang in his head, but Eli was too far gone to pay it any attention.

“Mine,” Nix growled, slamming hard into him again.

Nix’s voice tickled in Eli’s ear, filled with possession and didn’t warrant any objections. Just as well, because Eli didn’t feel like resisting.

“Yours,” Eli agreed. Sharp pain blossomed the instant Nix’s teeth sank into his neck. He let out a pained sound, but Nix’s bite was only momentary, like the quick prick of a needle.

  “Mine.”

The second time Nix said those words, Eli’s entire body shuddered as his orgasm swept through him like a howling storm. Two more thrusts in him were enough for Nix to explode. They clutched, clawed, and raked at each other as sensations drowned them.

Later, after riding out the after-shocks, they collapsed beside each other on the bed.

“Fuck. That was intense.” Nix reached out for him and, being a werecat who loved physical contact, Eli comfortably cuddled against him. The way Nix eyed his aching, marked body with obvious satisfaction made Eli blush.

“I scratched you up quite well, too,” Eli confessed, tracing one mark across his chest. Nix took his hand and kissed it.

“I hope I didn’t hurt you,” Nix said.

“The only one that hurt is this.” Eli brushed the raised bite mark on his neck.

Nix froze at the sight and the palpable fear in his eyes made Eli squirm out of the bed in search of a mirror. Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, Eli tentatively touched the perfect imprint of Nix’s teeth on his neck. The bite was deep and the slightly bleeding punctured wounds told Eli Nix’s canines had lengthened and sharpened to points. This was not a normal bite.

His mouth went dry and his pulse slowed. “Is…is this what I think it is?”

  Nix hesitated.

  “Answer me. Please.”

“Yeah. It’s a mating mark,” Nix whispered.

“You just bound me to you, mated me to you for life, and that’s all you can say?” Eli demanded.

“Wait there a second. Don’t you fucking dare put this all on me, kitten. You weren’t resisting me either. In fact, you said ‘yours’.”

Eli closed his mouth. He had no smart comeback because Nix was only telling the truth. Locked in heat, neither he nor his cat resisted Nix when Nix bit him.

“Okay. Okay, this isn’t the end of the world. Maybe there’s a way out of this.”

Nix crossed his arms, studying him. Gods. Nix simply standing there perfectly naked, inked and golden made it hard for Eli to think objectively.

“I mean, it’s rare to hear of two different shifter species mating,” Eli went on. “Maybe there’s a loophole out of this.”

  “Agreed.”

Somehow, Eli felt a little disappointed by those words, but he wasn’t sure why. Nix clearly came to Leopold City for a reason, trouble Eli and Jen didn’t need to be mixed up in. The werewolf was here on a temporary basis. Nix would deal with his personal problem and hopefully the issue with Diego would be dealt with too along the way. Then what? Goodbyes?

Eli knew two mated shifters couldn’t be apart from each other for long. He’d been there when Jen fell apart and he’d seen first-hand how broken she’d been without Diego.

“If it’s permanent, what happens? Are you just going to ride out again?” Eli hated how weak his voice sounded, but he couldn’t help himself. Nix shook his head, his eyes uncommonly hard.

“I’d never leave my mate.” The fierce determination contained in those words shocked Eli.

  “Never?”

“Never,” Nix said vehemently. “I need to take care of some personal business, but even if it means moving in here permanently, I will, so better get used to it, kitten.”

Eli couldn’t answer him. Anger radiated from every inch of Nix, telling him his werewolf mate meant every word he’d just said. What could he say in response to such conviction?

They both jumped when there was knock on the bathroom door.

“Something going on here, boys?” Jen asked sleepily, padding into the bathroom.

Eli suddenly felt self-conscious. Both Nix and he were naked, and Jen’s eyes slightly widened at the sight. She was awake now. Eli’s hand moved up his neck, but that only seemed to catch Jen’s attention. She blinked, and then crept closer. Eli edged back hesitantly.

  “Stay still, Eli.”

Eli halted, letting Jen touch the freshly made mating mark. Her gaze unexpectedly softened. “I’m happy for you, Eli.”

“Well, it was accidental,” Nix explained.

Jen turned to him. She wasn’t a demure woman by any means, and Eli noticed her eyes swept across his impressive frame with obvious interest. Eli’s skin itched again, and his cat stretched inside him, purring softly. Nix’s wolf rose to the surface again, eagerly sniffing out Jen. How did Eli know that? Was it because they were mated now?

Even among the wereleopards in the pard, males who weren’t suited for a triumvirate fought over their chosen female, but no aggressive aura permeated the room. Eli’s cat and Nix’s wolf companionably circled and eyed Jen’s leopard with interest.

“This is…I’m not sure,” Jen said quietly. “I’m not a fool, Nix. I understand why my cat is reacting like this, but my attraction to both of you feels like a betrayal to Diego.”

“Attraction to both of us?” Eli couldn’t help but ask.

“Oh, hon. I guess there’s no use hiding it now. You’ve taken care of me for so long I’ve begun to have feelings for you.” Jen went up to him, but only touched him lightly on the arm. Her cat mewled in protest, and Eli had a feeling it wanted to rub against his and Nix’s beasts, but Jen’s measure of control stunned him.

“Diego doesn’t deserve you,” Eli said harshly. “Nix and I can take better care of you.”

When it had become “Nix and I,” like they came in a packaged pair, Eli didn’t know, but at that moment he didn’t care. He’d use whatever means necessary to convince Jen she deserved better and he knew Nix felt the same. They might be, in essence, three individuals thrown into an odd situation randomly by fate, but Eli was beginning to believe their meeting wasn’t by chance.

Jen looked visibly shaken by Eli’s words, but she didn’t pull away when Nix gently placed his hand over the small of her back, rubbing it in gentle circles. Nix remained where he was, respecting her space. Jen sighed. Eli knew exactly how good the werewolf was with his fingers.

“It’s okay, baby. Breathe easy, no one here’s expecting you to make a choice right now, just know Eli and I are here to catch you when you fall,” Nix murmured.

Jen trembled at his words. The tense lines of Nix’s body told Eli how much control the big wolf was exerting. Eli knew exactly how Nix felt. He wanted to envelop Jen in his arms, while Nix molded himself at her back. Eli wanted her to feel their wall of flesh, to feel her cat rubbing herself against his leopard and Nix’s wolf, and know they’d protect her and her cub.

“It’s been so hard,” Jen adm
itted, sagging against Nix. Her gaze found Eli’s. “Without your help, I didn’t think I could do this on my own, but still, I—”

Jen halted, biting her lip. Eli took the first terrifying step between friend and lover and took her hands in his to kiss them.

“You don’t need to explain yourself, Jen. Every shifter craves heat and touch and it doesn’t need to be intimate. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

“Eli’s right, baby. Let’s stop making ourselves miserable. We’ll snuggle up against each other like a litter of puppies, that’s all. How about it, hon?” Nix asked in a soothing voice.

She looked visibly relieved by his suggestion.

  “Just cuddling?” she asked.

Nix let out a breath, but nodded. “Why don’t you head back to bed? We’ll put on some clothes and join you.”

  “Okay.”

Both men watched her retreat. Certain Jen was gone, Eli rounded on Nix. “You cunning son of a bitch.”

Nix grinned, seeming taking his words as a compliment. “Thank you, kitten.”

“Snuggling in a pile doesn’t equate to mating,” Eli pointed out.

“It’s a step closer to it. Besides, we both agree Jen needs some time. Come on, get in the shower. Jen’s waiting for us to warm her bed.”

Eli raised an eyebrow. “Get in the shower?”

“I figure showering together will save us some time and water.” Nix gave him a brief assessment, making Eli blush. “Besides we’re mates aren’t we? No need for shyness now.”

“Fine, but all we’re doing is showering,” Eli said, hopping in the shower. When Nix joined him in the tiny shower cubicle, his pulse began to race again. His leopard wanted to play again, wanted to taste and lick Nix’s hard, golden skin.

Nix pressed against his back, one hand finding his hardening cock. “So needy, kitten. Want me to quickly take care of you?”

“Fuck you, Nix.” Eli pathetically whimpered when Nix withdrew his fingers. “Okay, but just a quickie.”

Nix’s laughter sounded like liquid gold. True to his word, he got him off in a matter of minutes. They showered quickly and entered Jen’s bedroom. Eli did a quick check on Graham. The cub slept soundly in his crib, and his diapers didn’t need changing. Unexpected affection and warmth shot through Eli. With Jen’s brown eyes and Diego’s blond hair and nose, Graham could’ve passed for his son. How Diego could simply just leave two treasures was beyond him.

“Come on, Eli,” Nix said, pressing a hand on the square of his back and Eli let Nix guide him to the bed.

They slid on either side of Jen on the bed, and it occurred to Eli how the arrangement didn’t feel awkward or wrong, but damnably right. It felt like they’d done this a hundred of times before.

Jen lay on her side, spooning her back to Nix while pressing her face to Eli’s chest. Eli wondered if she could hear his heart thudding violently against his chest. God. She felt like a soft warm bundle between them, her cat snuggled contently between his leopard and Nix’s wolf.

“What took you two so long?” Jen murmured, still half-asleep. She slipped her hand unconsciously beneath Eli’s shirt.

Fuck. He hated these clothes suddenly. Eli wanted their bare skin—Jen’s, Nix’s, and his, to touch and kiss. To slide against each other, so their bodies could confirm the inevitable— that they were a perfect fit.

“Sorry, baby. Had to take care of Eli’s need,” Nix said softly, daringly pressing his lips to the nape of her neck. Jen didn’t seem to notice Eli’s cheeks heat up in the dark.

“Good then,” Jen murmured, her eyelids fluttering close. “I like this dream very much. I don’t want to wake up at all.”

“This isn’t a dream, Jen,” Eli said, squeezing the contents of his heart, even knowing Jen was too out of it to probably remember this in the morning. “It can be real if you want it to be. Taking the first step is scary, but we’ll be with you all the way.”

  “Sounds nice.” Jen sighed.

“Go to sleep, little cats.” Nix growled, hand curled possessively around Jen’s waist. Unthinkingly, Eli placed his hand on top of Nix’s. The werewolf rumbled happily and the three of them blissfully fell asleep that way.

  Chapter Five

After countless sleepless nights filled with worry and sinking depression, Jen woke, content and feeling light. She felt lethargic even, as she lazily stretched and yawned. Her leopardess purred contently inside her and she was tempted to mimic the gesture, but she froze when she realized it wasn’t an empty bed she woke to.

She’d gotten so used to waking up miserably alone in an empty marriage that the sight of tangled limbs in the sheets was a foreign sight to her.

Eli had one hand carelessly flung over her waist while Nix’s hand was draped over her left thigh, leaving her effectively trapped between the two men. Not trapped like a bird eager to escape, Jen realized, but cocooned and protected. A leopard wasn’t a creature of prey. Seeing the two men, the cat inside her licked its paw in lazy triumph.

“Smug little feline aren’t you?” Jen murmured to no one in particular.

The cat might have no use for human certainty and emotions, but the human half of Jen was shaken.

She simply slept beside the two men and there was no sex involved. Jen was born and raised a Catholic before she moved out of her suffocating house and fanatically religious small town and into Leopold City. Even though she wasn’t as religious after being bitten, she still took marriage vows seriously and in shifter culture, mates were bound until death.

Jen nervously wrung her hands together. No. If she dug deeper inside her and was being completely honest with herself, what truly bothered her was how she reacted to Eli and Nix. Being with Diego felt like a match had been lit inside her, but being with Eli and Nix felt like a glowing inferno was constantly raging inside her.

If Jen crossed the final line and that waiting firestorm was unleashed, what would happen then?

“Good morning, sweetheart. Slept well?” Nix’s sleepy voice steered Jen back to reality.

“I haven’t slept that well in a long time,” Jen admitted.

“I’m glad to hear that, baby.”

She looked steadily into Nix’s eyes, and let out a sound when he began drawing lazy circles on her thigh. Jen didn’t bat his hand away when it slid higher up her thigh. She leaned into him. He let out a sigh, and Jen dared him to go further.

Jen remembered catching Nix and Eli the night before and how the sight of the two men, nude and glorious, made her feel incredibly aroused. Even now, moisture flooded into her pussy with Nix simply touching her.

“I can smell you, sweetheart.” Nix growled softly. “God, you smell so good.”

Jen sighed as he finally slipped his hand between her legs.

“So wet,” Nix murmured, eyes now awake, and so was the rest of him. Jen felt his growing erection pressed against her hip. “Tell me I’m crossing the line and I’ll back off.”

“Don’t stop,” Jen said and he didn’t.

Nix slowly stroked her pussy lips, watching her, before sliding two fingers inside her. Jen moaned, thrusting her hips at his fingers while he pumped her. While he finger-fucked her, he circled his thumb over her swollen nub.

“So responsive,” Nix murmured in appreciation. “So wet and soft against my fingers.”

“Make me come, Nix,” Jen whispered, closing her eyes.

Nix’s stubble brushed against her cheek and she didn’t stop his warm, hungry mouth from descending on hers. Jen knew everything they did was done with her consent. Every weak protestation uttered by the loyal and pathetic wife died when Nix touched her. He smelled and felt so good, and Jen was tired of feeling hurt and weak, of second-guessing herself.

Wasn’t she good enough? Did Diego find something lacking in her? Because Eli and Nix certainly thought there wasn’t. The two men never failed to remind her each day Jen was perfect the way she was.

Like always, Diego’s image sprung up in her mind, tormenting her. Jen
miserably tore her lips away from Nix’s tempting mouth. Other men would push, would demand their fill. Diego certainly would, but Nix didn’t push, he only held Jen steady as the pressure building inside her hit bursting point. Jen’s orgasm swept through her like a wave, making her entire body shudder.

When she came to, Jen felt a second hand, Eli’s, stroking her back while Nix kept her pressed to her chest. Jen felt their erections pressing against her, but she knew both men would restrain themselves.

The unbearable ache that had been growing inside her ever since Nix moved in with them continued to pulse and throb, reminding her not of her loss, but of what she could have. What would it be like to be shared by the two men, to have both Nix and Eli filling her to the brim? The leopard inside her no longer saw Diego as her rightful mate, and she couldn’t comprehend why the human half of Jen wanted to cling to her human morals and human vows.

“It’s unfair. I don’t know why I’m torturing myself and you both like this,” she murmured against Nix, who respectfully kept his hands on her waist.

It felt awful stringing the two men along like this. Jen was tired of dancing near the edge of her stupid morals when all she wanted was to fall, knowing Eli and Nix would be there to catch her.

  “I’m so sorry,” she whispered.

“It’s okay, Jen. You don’t have to apologize,” Eli said behind her.

She looked up, seeing the weight of Nix’s intense amber eyes. Jen knew the biker had his own demons to slay, and she didn’t want to add to his problems. She looked away, but Nix lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him.

“Reality’s a bitch,” Nix told her plainly, not mincing words. It was one of the things Jen loved about the werewolf, but right now looking at him was painful. “Life often is, but don’t you dare think for a second you’re not worth fighting for.”

Jen swallowed. “Even like this, you both still want me?” she asked in a small voice.

“You don’t have to ask that,” Eli said, pressing his head against her back.

“You’ll wait?” Their silence was answer enough.
