The feel of his hand on her shoulder brought her out of her memory. “The more you fight, put your life on the line, the more you feel the need for someone to ground you.”
“Yes. Of course you understand, because you are truly a warrior.”
She nodded her head; she understood.
“I think it’s time to get you back and put Tau out of his misery.”
“Zymar, hold on. You have not been forgotten. Trust me.”
She watched as he searched her gaze, then nodded his head. She knew what he needed would show up soon.
They walked backed to Azure in silence. Talia gave Zymar a quick hug goodbye as he left her close to Tau’s dwelling.
She walked in the door to find Tau sitting on the floor, his long legs open slightly in front of him. He never moved, never turned to acknowledge her, but she was sure he knew she was there. Taking a deep breath to center herself, she walked over to him.
“Hi.” Her voice was a whisper.
“Hi.” He had responded in the same low voice, but still had not turned to look at her.
Talia could see the flatness in his eyes. No pain, no joy, just flatness, like he had cut himself off from the coming pain. She went to her knees between his legs and reached for his right hand. She brought it up to her lips, before he stiffened his arm.
“Stop. What are you doing?”
“What we should have done the first day I came back. I am taking away the pain and the loneliness. I am committing my life to the other half of my soul.”
“You need time to be sure.”
“I was sure as I stood in the middle of a battle field and you fed me strength. I was sure when it was thoughts of seeing you that allowed me to resist the call. I was sure when I thought of you caged and beaten and all I wanted to do was cage those who hurt you. I was sure the first night you held me in your arms and I woke up to your kiss. I should be asking you if you’re sure.”
He looked into her eyes before answering. “I knew the moment I met you. I was sure when you disappeared on Tarek and Jana’s doorstep. Tarek slipped me a plant that night in order to make me sleep, I believe he was scared I would search every enemy vessel until I found you. He woke me the next morning with the news that you were fine. Not completing a bonding with you, keeping my hands to myself, has been the hardest thing I have ever done.”
“You didn’t have to.”
“I needed to make sure you knew you had options. Trying to complete a bonding with the wrong person is painful. I have seen it.”
Talia nodded her head. She was tired of talking. She wanted her soul mate. She raised his hand again. This time he didn’t stop her. She reached out and kissed the center of his palm, feeling a connection go from her body to his. Reaching out she kissed the center of the other hand he had lifted. She was tangled into him. Her soul had melded with his for good or bad.
He took her hand and kissed the palm and she felt it immediately, his soul entwining with her. It shot sparks of closeness through her. It left her feeling breathless and her body longed for his in such a physical way. He kissed the palm of her other hand and then laid his hands against hers. The longing became an intensely physical as she felt him caress her without touching her. She needed him. Then the song started. It was loud and full body and she knew soon their dwelling would be overrun with well-wishers. For better or worse, she thought, as she heard the door open.
The golden sheen of his aura entwining with hers was fascinating. The way it wrapped around their body before flaring out and shooting outside the dwelling announcing to the whole village that two halves had become one. The more they mixed a strand of red combined with the gold cementing it together and causing it to arc overhead.
“Tau, do you see this?”
He nodded his head as he watched the aura with her. “It’s a sign of the ancients, Talia. You and I together have become an ancient bond.”
“What does it mean?”
“That we are committed to more than this planet.”
The long silence between them was broken by a voice at the door.
“Can we come in?” Jana’s voice called out.
“Considering Tau forgets to knock whenever he comes over uninvited, we better be able to come in.” Tarek’s voice rang out full of joy.
“If I knocked, you would be forced to examine me again. I try to stay as far away from that as possible.”
Tau stood and reached for Talia. “Come in. You are the first to get here.”
“That’s because Jana prepares a basket every day. She wanted to be ready.”
Jana gave Tarek a small shove and came over to hug Talia. “I am so happy for you.” Then she moved over to Tau. “This time I knew she was the one.” They both laughed as they hugged.
Tarek came over and hugged Talia. “I am happy you are here. He could not have done any better than you. If I did not have Jana, I may have been jealous.” This time Talia gave him a small shove and they all broke up in laughter.
“Tau.” Tarek moved to him and grasped his hand and used his other to clap him on the back. Then he whispered to him. “It is all coming together. Soon it will be up to us.”
Tau frowned at him for a minute, then nodded his head. They would talk later.
“Anyone ready for a feast?” Talia asked, as she walked over and opened the door. Already Mians were coming with baskets and wishes of long life and many young. She would have to talk about the young with Tau later.
She stood at the door welcoming everyone into her home. This gave her a chance to see those she had not seen since the first binding ceremony. Zymar walked up with two others she had never met. He stood outside and looked at her. Tau came to the door.
“Come in my friends. You are welcome here. Talia, the two with Zymar are Kie and Rylan. Kie’s the one with the darker eyes and Rylan is the one with the blue aura.”
Talia looked both of them over. They were around Tau’s seven and half foot stature, meaning they were taller than her, but not as tall as Zymar. None of that mattered, because she could see from the look in their eyes they were the old ones, not the young ones. She was now trusted. That is the only way Zymar would have brought them to her binding ceremony.
Talia smiled and repeated Tau’s invitation “Come in. You are welcome here.”
They gave her a small bow and walked in. Tarek and Jana came over and greeted them. Then the food was spread out for all to enjoy. All that was heard was the occasional laughter and the sounds of a feast being consumed.
“I love binding ceremonies. I wish we could have one every day.”
Tarek gave Jana an indulgent smile. “Then we would never get anything done.”
“I can live with that.”
Tau and Talia got up laughing and began going around to different people to thank them for coming to help them celebrate their binding celebration.
Someone took out a musical instrument and there were songs and dancing until late in the night. She thought it might go all night, when people began to pack up baskets and young ones who had been awake too long. They called out another wish for long life and young before they began to slip through the door, leaving the space immaculate.
Soon the only ones left were Tarek, Jana, Zymar and the friends he brought.
Jana got up and started making noises about leaving. “We should leave to let the new couple spend their first night alone.”
Talia threw a thankful smile her way.
“Jana is right.” Tarek agreed, getting up. “We can all get together tomorrow to talk. Agreed?”
There was a chorus of agrees, from everyone then they headed to the door.
Jana gave her one last hug. “Don’t worry. You will love it.”
The silence in the room grew as they watched the others walk away. It was just the two of them now. Tau shut the door. He walked back into the living area. She followed him, wondering what was next.
“Dance?”
Her head came up to look at the smile on his face
and the joy in his eyes.
“Yes.”
She really didn’t know who she had to thank for him, but that prayer she had thrown out there had been answered. Maybe someone really was watching over her. She walked into his open arms and swayed to the soft music he put on. Closing her eyes, she placed her head on his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat. She found it soothed her. This was Tau, the one who she had spent every possible minute with, the one who held her heart in his hands. She wanted nothing more than to belong to him. Mind, body and soul.
“I could dance with you all night, Talia.”
She smiled against his chest. “Is that what they are calling it now, dancing?”
He chuckled at her attempt at a joke. “We call it whatever you want. We can take our time, Lia. There’s no wrong way to do it.”
Hearing her nickname on his lips made her heart beat faster. She wanted him now, not later.
“Why don’t you show me?”
He took her hand and led her to the bedroom.
Chapter Ten
“You are so beautiful.”
Talia was standing still as Tau ran his eyes over her. He moved closer and lowered his head to kiss her.
“You taste like the sweetest piece of fruit with a cool refreshing center. I could get lost in your taste, Lia.”
She moaned into his mouth. How was he talking when she could barely string a thought together? She licked his lips with her tongue and moved it into his mouth when it opened. She rubbed her tongue against his just as he had taught her as she moved closer wanting more of him. The soft sounds he was making were turning her on. When she heard them against the deep ones that were coming out of his mouth, her lower parts turned to fire.
When had any male ever sounded this enticing? She rubbed her chest against his trying to sooth the ache in her nipples.
Tau’s hands reach down to take off his shirt, leaving his chest bare for her roaming hands. Her eyes immediately zoomed in on the hard nipples on his chest. Without thought, she brought her hands up to touch them. When a hard groan came from his lips, she squeezed them then lowered her head to suck on them.
Her name was torn from his lips as she suckled. He pulled away and brought her shirt up and over her head, leaving her bare from the waist up.
“So beautiful, Lia. So hard and beautiful.”
He reached up to touch her breast and she almost died on the breath caught in her throat. Then he covered it with his hard hand. She started to pant as he rubbed the palm of his hand over her nipple.
“Do you like how that feels, Lia?”
A strangled yes emerged. Not sure if he understood, she tried nodding her head yes.
“Then maybe you will like this.” He lowered his head and took her nipple into his mouth. Her knees buckled as a loud keening escaped her lips.
“You like this,” he said, licking first one nipple then the other as she clutched his head making high pitched sounds.
He was the only thing keeping her from falling. Swinging her up in his arms he deposited her on the bed.
“You are wearing too many clothes.”
She looked down. All she had on was a pair of pants just like him. She raised an eyebrow at him.
“Mine are coming off.” He moved his hands to the waist of his pants and shoved them down. She whimpered when she got a look at him. He was long and thick. She felt the wetness between her legs start to seep down. He reached down and gripped the waist of her pants, pulling them down. The sight of him had left her unable to move. She felt completely exposed as he looked between her legs licking his lips. She watched as he extended one finger towards her. It disappeared between her legs and then he stroked her slit.
Her body jack-knifed off the bed and a jagged moan came from her throat.
“You’re so responsive, Lia.”
He lie on the bed beside her and kissed her again. Moving his hands over her nipples. His kissed down the side of her throat until he had taken another hard nipple in his mouth.
“More,” she groaned. “Need more, Tau. Don’t tease.”
“Teasing can be erotic, Lia.” He cupped her sex with his hand and then pushed on it, causing her to scream.
“I need to be in you,” he said into her ear before he licked the curve of it.
“Yes, please now.” Her body bucked under his hand wanting more.
“Easy, Lia.” His body covered hers, pressing her down into the bedding. It felt amazing to feel his weight on her. She felt protected even as he was driving her crazy.
“Can’t wait, more next time.”
He was up on his knees holding himself as he moved towards her entrance. She watched with big eyes until she felt him touch her, breach her.
The sharp pain she felt as he pushed into her was enough to bring her to her senses for a moment.
“Young.”
“What about young, Lia.”
His was poised over her. His arms shaking with the effort to hold still and address her fears.
“We never talked about them.”
“Do you want them?”
“Yes. But if I have them, how will I be able to fight?”
“Don’t worry. I will bear them. No more words. I have to move.”
He leaned down and kissed her, absorbing her cry of pain as he pushed his way forwards.
“You’re so big.” She was breathing hard, unable to decide if she liked this part or not.
“Thank you.” He was grinding against her, allowing her time to adjust to his size.
“That was not a compliment.”
“Yes it was. You just don’t know it yet.”
He pulled out of her and thrust back in once, twice, three times before the passion gripped her eyes again.
“Tau, do that again.”
“Anything for you, Lia.”
He moved out a little faster and thrust back in a little harder. Her voice encouraged him and he did it again faster. Talia could hear her moans mixed in with his deep cries of satisfaction as he moved deeper into her body. He felt so big inside of her; thick and hard and touching every secret place she had. She found herself begging for what she didn’t know, but she begged anyway.
That’s when she felt something grip her.
“Tau something’s happening.”
“It’s what you have been reaching towards, Lia. Go with it.” She had never done anything like this before. Even mated souls didn’t do this or so she had been informed. Not that she cared right now. All she could do was lift her hips in time to Tau. Nothing but incoherent sounds were coming from her lips as her body tightened up painfully. She could feel it in the depths of her. She panted as she moved, desperately seeking the release.
Small hoarse screams started to leave her mouth the closer she got to her release. Her lower region was on fire and she was slamming herself against Tau when fire broke off in her belly. She screamed her way through as her body shook and her head moved back and forth. Tau drove deep into her, pushing her over the edge.
When she thought she was done, she felt him stiffen above her and shoot liquid fire into her belly. She added another scream to the loud one that was being torn from his lips. She had never felt anything like this before, her insides were bathed in a warm glow that made her want to beg for more. She would tell him after she woke up.

Tau watched her slip into unconsciousness while he was still shuddering on top of her. A feeling of protectiveness wrapped around him as he fought to catch his breath. The sheer delicateness of her body amazed him. A feeling of peace settled into his bones. Finally, he allowed himself to briefly lay on her body, knowing his little warrior could take the weight. Kissing her softly, he reluctantly pulled out. He already wanted her again.
He listened as her breathing soothed out into normal sleep patterns. He let her sleep as he thought of the conversation he now needed to have in private with Tarek. Tarek would probably say he allowed the thought of getting his cock wet go to his head. He would hav
e a hard time disagreeing.
He knew he had done the right thing. In times past, the one who fought or did the hard physical labor did not bear the young. Ever. He knew his kind were unique in that both the male and the female of the species had the ability to bear the young until the decision was made. Once it was made, the other became incapable of carrying the young. Not that it mattered. He had seen her scans. He knew if they decided to have young he would be the one who would carry them.

Talia woke up in Tau’s arms and smiled. She moved a little and could feel the soreness between her legs. She moaned quietly, last night wonderful. The pain had not lasted long and the pleasure made her toes curl. When could she do it again?
She leaned over and placed a brief kiss on his lips before slipping out the bed and going to the bathroom. She examined herself in the mirror. She looked different, but she could not pinpoint the difference. Shrugging her shoulders, she got into the shower and cleaned off. Tau was up when she walked back into the room.
“Lia.” He smiled up at her. “How do you feel?”
She felt her cheeks heat up and a shyness she had not known before over took her. “A little sore.”
“That’s to be expected.” He got up and crossed over to her, giving her a hug. It will go away.”
“How do you feel?”
“Amazing, excellent, I feel like I did something right to have you, Lia.” He rubbed against her, letting her know how much he wanted her again.
“You’re so big.”
“Is that a compliment?”
She laughed into his chest and nodded her head yes.
He laughed. “Glad you finally see things my way. He leaned over and gave her a kiss, feeling the heat between them rise. “Later, sweet Lia. Now we have to get dressed and go meet with the others.”
They dressed and walked over to Tarek’s and Jana’s house. Tau thought they would be waiting for them before serving breakfast. He knocked on the door before opening it and walking in.
“What took you two so long? We are starving? On second thought, don’t answer that.” Tarek held up his hand with a grimace on his face, allowing the rest to laugh at his expense.
