by Scarlet Day

His voice choked and he closed his eyes, his emotions overwhelming him. In that moment, he knew he would do it all over again. If he had a chance to go back to that battlefield so long ago and change the course of history, to ensure that he and his brother would not have died that fateful night, he would have refused to alter the events. If they had lived through that battle, if they had never been shown the magical waters that bubbled up from the ground, they would never have met Claire. He and Stefan would have been long dead by now and buried in the family plot in the cemetery down the street. They would not have the pleasure of spending an eternity with the incredible woman he held in his arms. And he knew one eternity wouldn’t even be enough with her.

“Silly boy.” Christian opened his eyes at the playful tone of Claire’s voice. One corner of her mouth turned up. “How long is it going to take for me to get it through your thick head that I’m the one who has everything to be thankful for?”

A sly grin spread across Christian’s face. “Oh, I don’t know. Why don’t we start with eternity and go from there?”

Claire reached out and turned the doorknob before pushing the bedroom door open. “Sounds like a plan.” She pressed one hand against his chest and pushed him through the doorway. “But I’m warning you, that’s not going to be long enough to do all the things I want to do to you.”

Christian grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the room, swinging the door shut with his other hand. “My thoughts exactly.”

As he lowered his head to claim Claire’s lips, he vaguely wondered where Stefan was. His brother seemed to have an uncanny ability to know whenever sex was imminent and Christian had no doubt that Stefan would be joining them soon. But for the moment, Claire was all his. And he was all hers, for now and for eternity.
