'That... is good news!' Paula couldn't stop smiling, her lips curving into a silly grin of her own. And that wasn't the only physical phenomena she couldn't control. She glanced quickly across the road to the Raven and the entrance to a certain alley that ran behind it. 'And I think we should celebrate. Immediately. Don't you?'
Rafe followed her glance, and chuckled and shook his head.
'Back where we first met, eh?' He slid his hand over the side of her face, his fingertips curving so softly and seductively that Paula seemed to feel the subtle caress of them between her legs. 'I'm all for it. Although I must say I had something else in mind first.'
Paula pulled back a little. Confused, but happy.
'What were you thinking of?'
'Well, I thought we might go in there.' He nodded towards the entrance to the town's main shopping precinct, further up the road. 'And find ourselves a jeweller's maybe? Do you get my drift?'
She got it. 'Oh my God! I didn't think you were so conventional, Rafe.' She laughed and gave him a smacker of a kiss on the cheek. 'Not that I'm complaining.'
'So? What's it to be?' Rafe rose to his feet, drawing her up too and sliding his arm around her waist. 'Ring?' Eyes twinkling, he put his lips to her ear. 'Or wild sex against a wall in an alley?'
'Both,' replied Paula firmly, turning her face to his and stealing another searing kiss.
