Christian cocks his head to the side, “I promise, Big Momma. I will make sure my wife eats. I am also pleased to know that you enjoyed your meal.” Christian leans over, and he kisses Big Momma on the cheek. She would blush if she could.
She pretends to fan her face, and she points at me, “I would have given you a run for your money, if I was still a tiny ole thing. But, I am happy to see him with you instead. You just make sure to keep my Mr. August happy.”
She winks at me, hugs me, and then she walks away. Christian chuckles while he covers his face with his hands. He is shaking his head with disbelief. I will always remember his naked calendar shoot he did for charity. I coincidentally have all the pictures from his shoot now. He is my Mr. August, and his pictures are my new screensaver. His pictures also make a great wallpaper for both my computers.
Joey and Rosalie take over the dance floor, “I once again, want to congratulate you both. We love you both. Rosalie and I want to congratulate you on your pregnancy too. I jinx you with a little girl. That is my fairy wish to you both,” Joey blew us a kiss.
Rosalie takes over the microphone too, “I want to make a fairy wish also. I want to make sure your daughter is as fearless as both of her parents are. I also want to make one more fairy wish. I wish for your daughter to marry someone, who you both equally trust and love. May she also love fearlessly, and always be a strong woman.”
Joey twists his face, and he seems impressed with her fairy wishes. They take over the dance floor, and they embark on their provocative dance together. They make every move with deliberate intent. They never miss one single step together. Christian and I stand up to give them a standing ovation, after they finish their beautiful yet provocative dance. I am so impressed with both of them. Now I can see dancing, as an art from the beautiful moves they made together.
Christian points to the dance floor, and I join him, “I think the correct phrase is that the cat is out of the bag,” he whispers. I chuckle about our latest revelation to the crowd.
“I believe it is. I’m not unhappy about it either,” I kiss him, and then we dance for a few minutes.
Papa waits until our dance finishes. He holds out his hand, and I dance with him. He is smiling from ear to ear, “You just made me the happiest grandfather in the world. I am anticipating what my new grandchild will look and be like. I am beyond ecstatic. Now I will have to throw you the biggest baby shower ever.”
I peck his gaunt cheek, “You really make me happy in return. Please don’t worry about a baby shower. You have already done enough for me, as it is!”
He shakes his head, “I will continue to spoil my only granddaughter, as I see fit. You just have to suck it up and enjoy it.”
“I do enjoy it Papa and thank you for everything.”
“You are most welcome, my child.”
We finish our dance together. I take turns to dance with all the BIB members.
Ian is the last one to dance with me, “Congratulations, chick.”
I giggle in his arms, “Thank you, Ian.”
“Do you remember our talks together over a year ago?”
“I certainly do, Ian.”
“Do you remember that whole spiel about having confidence in yourself, and we will be here waiting for you?”
“I remember that speech you gave me very well.”
“Well, it seems that you actually listened to me for a change. It also seems that Christian loves you more today, than he did on your eighteenth birthday.”
I hug one of my favorite Enforcers, but I will never tell him that, “Thank you for being my best friend. I never thought in a million years that I would be his wife. You are our best friend.”
“I will always be your best friend. I love you both. Just make each other happy. Can you promise me that?”
“I love you too. I can promise you that.”
Ian pecks my cheek, and then he returns me to Christian’s side. He takes Christian by surprise, when he gives him a hug. He reciprocates the hug, in which took him by surprise. We are finally making progress. The cold and uncaring vampires are now showing warmth to one another. This is a great day for all of us. We have come so far from over a year ago.
By the time the wedding reception comes close to an end, I am completely exhausted. Christian and I are about to leave, but we hear strange noises coming from the television set. The plasma television flicks on and off for a few minutes. Gabriel, Joey, Ransom, and Alexander stand around us to see what the noise is.
I thought we were home free until she makes her debut.
Chapter 13
I stare at the television set to see her sitting behind a long marble broadcast table. Her hair is now jet-black and long. She wears a strange ebony hat, with an ebony see-through veil in the front to cover her face.
Christian stops, and he pulls me right behind him. There are guns cocking from every direction, and ready to fire at her. A few have their swords out. They are ready to fight.
My sister, Ava Khan sits there with a sadistic smile on her face, “Oh for Pete’s Sake, you can all relax! I just want to say hello to my sister. I believe I counted forty-eight Enforcers. Boy, I am really impressed,” she claps her hands sarcastically. She turns to Ransom, “I wonder… who invited the dogs?” she shifts her position.
“Cue the fucking music! I need to hear my little sister respond!”
I squint nervously, and then I step forward, “What do you want, Ava? You have my full attention! What kind of game are you trying to play now, Ava?”
Ava cackles evilly, “Oh dear, dear, sister. I missed our last fight greatly! I had to think long and hard what to get you for a wedding present. I want to be the nice big sister everyone expects me to be. Therefore, you obviously don’t have to thank me, but… I recorded a sweet video starring you. You really, really don’t have to thank me. But… I felt an obligation to show your husband what exactly he missed out, while you were Reno’s pet. Did my little sister happen to mention, what exactly happened to her for all those months in captivity?” Ava asks. I know where this is going. Christian doesn’t even move.
Ava continues, “Oh… I see… you forgot to tell him. That is not a very nice way to start your marriage off on the wrong foot. The key for a successful marriage is that you need to have an open line of communication. I hope you take my advice to heart.” Ember and Rosalie step over to my side.
Ava shows what happened to me last year, “That is okay, because I am here to help you out, Jeannie. I simply just love my sister oh so much. Here is what your dear sweet wife went through. Well, I will wait to hear all of you thank me for this delightful presentation!”
The television flashes. I hear my own voice echoing on the television screen. There are words spoken to my baby, and a cry for Christian. Ava shows everyone what exactly Reno did to me for all those months. I can hear fangs click everywhere. He watches me beg, for him to come rescue me. I forgot all about that. They watch all the torture Reno gave me.
My sister shows it all. “I call that Jeannie’s greatest hits. Get it? Jeannie’s greatest hits! All of you can laugh and clap your hands now!”
Ava shows her cruelty when they watch Reno electrocute me numerous times. They watch in horror, what the sun actually does to me in person. Ember and Rosalie gasp in shock.
I balloon up, and my skin inflames. My face swells out from it. I know what should be around the corner. They show Reno entering the room.
The camera pans to me, “If you are Reno, then you can just go ahead, and finish me off. I have heard wonderful stories about you murdering all of my family members. Do me a favor, go ahead, and kill me now!”
That is not even the worst of it. I brace myself for what is next, “Christian, will not care if I am alive—or dead now. I am sure Saber can move on without me too. You really have nothing to gain by killing me, but if you must, go for it.”
The most gut-wrenching moment flashes across the screen, “I am so sorry, baby. I am already making a horrible moth
er!”
Papa stares at me with disbelief in his eyes. I remember telling Reno all those things. He even mocked me about Christian. I can feel his anger surging through me. Reno laughs hysterically, as he drags me by a silver chain and collar. He threw me in front of the evil Khan. I took a quick glimpse long enough at Rosalie. She watches in horror, as she finally meets the man, who is responsible for killing her parents. Ember holds me close to her. They hear me state that I enjoy fucking Christian, and I recommend fucking your food. I continue to watch myself. I never flinch when they hit me in the face. They even listen to the little speech Khan gave his followers.
I watch myself plead for my sister to stop. She even refused to help me. They watch my sister and I fight. I knocked her out a few times. My sister cheated with the help of her husband. That was how she was able to kick me in the stomach numerous times, and break my back. Thankfully, her repulsive and horrible movie abruptly ends.
My sister claps in front of the crowd, “I call that a blockbuster, and an excellent movie! What do you think? Do I receive all five gold stars?”
I can hear his fangs descend, “You are a sick fucking bitch, and you are truly pathetic!” Christian screams.
My sister cackles for five minutes, “Oh, wait! It finally dawns on me that Christian Hunter and my husband are now brother-in-laws! How cool is that? I know you wanted to be married to a person high in the food chain sister, but you married the fourth oldest vampire in the world. I want to announce that I happen to be married to the second oldest vampire in the world. Guess what. Here is another shocker. I married him on my own free will. You can say it was love at first sight. You are such a sexy and powerful man, Julius.”
Julius embraces her, “You are equally sexy too–my little buttercup!”
All of us gag by the sick and twisted term of endearments they express to each other.
My grandfather moves right in front of us, “Ava! This is not you! Your mom and dad loved you. How could you be so cruel to us?”
Ava scoffs, “Go ahead, and admit it. You never wanted me! Your main interest is with my stupid and pathetic little sister. She is the one, with the precious vampire DNA. Oh, wait. Now that you mention it, there is something a little strange about her DNA. I realized that when a little bit of her blood flew into my mouth. I remember the taste of it, because it tastes so much like a fairy.”
All the fairies stand there motionless. As she mentions fairies, all of them turn around to see what Ava is talking about now.
She cackles evilly for another few minutes, “I wonder where our father comes from? Oh, wait, sister. I thought I was adopted too. I truly did, but oh the sins of the father. We are actually sisters, because, we have the same father. How do you like that? I dearly love this new revelation. It seems that daddy Forest Justice was a very busy hybrid. That is so right folks. Forest Justice is a fairy hybrid! How funny is that? Apparently, he also loves to fuck a lot. That must be hmmm… I wonder. That almost sounds exactly like Everest McCloud. You see… dear daddy, was giving a lecture at a California University. He happens to find a girl in the audience, who was so appealing to him. They get it on, and well, here I am! I was able to track down that California teenager. She is now dead, but she was a useless mortal anyway. I chose to research our dear old pappy’s lineage from your funny tasting blood. Imagine my surprise to find out that my biological father is also part fairy. I am sending those documents to your right now. Our daddy did his absolute best to try, and cover up his little secret indiscretion, by convincing his lovely wife to adopt a bastard he created. Mommy dearest did not want to be bothered with me. Never fear Vampire—or Fairy Enforcers! I would hate for both of you to devote your precious little time to research where Jeannie comes from. I managed to do all the legwork for you pathetic assholes. I should send you a bill in the mail for this, but the expressions on your faces are so much better!”
Joey steps forward, “You know nothing about us—or our kind! Stop mentioning shit you know nothing about!”
Rosalie is on the phone calling for extra backup. I watch the king and queen of the fairies appear out of thin air. Skylar is very pregnant, and she shows up, with another blonde male holding her.
Ava glances around, “Oh dear. I know all about the precious McCloud family. Too bad, they had Everest McCloud. Relax people! Everest is not the biological father to our dad. I know you were hoping he was, but you have another among you, who created my sister and me. Can you imagine my surprise, when I was able to track down the biological mother to daddy dearest? I deserve to know all our family secrets. Now our father is actually a fairy hybrid. I was in so much shock over that.” Ava pauses, and then she peers over my right shoulder. She continues, “Oh, wait, now I see the king and queen of all fairies. Surprise, I am nowhere near finished! I had to find out who exactly created our dad. I would never be at peace with never knowing who our grandparents are. Well, sorry to disappoint you, but grandma was a pathetic mortal. I went ahead, and put her out of her misery, since she was on an oxygen tank. I became the nosy granddaughter, and I found all those precious adoption records. Her name is on the document, but the biological father was not even listed. However, never fear, dear sister. I found these really cute pictures of grandma with someone, who appears vaguely familiar to everyone.”
A stranger walks over to me quickly, and he shoves a large envelope in my hands. Joey and Christian took the envelope from me to glance quickly through it. They have to see, who the father is.
Ava sighs, and she shows contempt, “I will give the birth father of my dad, who I am sure is still in the audience, a chance to step forward. I will remain the nice granddaughter, and I will flash her picture in front of the screen. You can go ahead, and save your pathetic family the embarrassment. It is now—or never. You can no longer keep your silence. Either way grand pappy, we know who you are. Your days are numbered.”
We peek at all of the fairies, who are now snapping themselves inside my reception. Ava keeps gabbing, and then she finally sighs, “Oh, alright. Here is a picture of our biological grandmother. Save yourself the trouble, and admit you fucked her.”
She flashes a picture to the television screen of a woman with blonde hair, and baby blues. She had to have been in her late teens—or early twenties. We wait for an answer. Everyone studies each other intently.
“OH, FUCK NO!” Someone yells.
We turn around to see Rosalie’s uncle is gasping in horror. He slowly walks in front of us.
Ava sadistically cackles, “Oh, hi there! I think you are the most recognizable, from all the fairies here today. You seem so fucking familiar. Is this a picture of our grandmother?”
Ava picks up a roll of pictures from her desk, and she holds one up to the camera. She has pictures of the boyfriend. They took tons of pictures together. They zoom in on his face.
Oberon Jr. glances at Rosalie. She is freaking out, “Oh, shit! That is you, Uncle Oberon!”
Ava continues to cackle evilly, “I will safely affirm… that not only did Everest have a little sex problem, but I believe Oberon Jr. seems to have a huge problem with sex too.”
We watch Brandy storm out of the room crying.
Oberon Jr. falls to the floor, “What did you do to Maria?”
Ava taps her fingers on the desk, “Oh shit is right! I am sorry to inform you, but Maria is now dead. She grew tired of waiting for a man who never truly loved her. Congratulations, Oberon Jr., you now have two granddaughters. One is standing right behind you, and she is currently pregnant with your great-grandchild, or dear I declare… ABOMINATION! I feel like singing, ‘It’s a Small World After All.’ I have to say hello to my new great-grandparents. How nice to finally meet you two. I believe… that makes us cousins with Ember and Rosalie. Well, second cousins at least. Actually, you can thank Ember’s father Everest, for making all of this possible. How nice of him to keep this huge insurance policy. I always pondered why Everest had a secret mystery box hidden from the fairies. He was so nice to w
ill it to my sexy husband, Julius Khan. This is the funniest thing in the world.”
Rosalie is angry, and she storms over to the television, “You are an absolute fucking bitch! This is the cruelest thing you could have done to us! You are married to a fucking psychopath! You married the man who brutally murdered all our parents! How could you sleep with a man who murdered your parents? How can you sleep with someone so fucking evil? I struggle to understand you!”
Ava studies her nails, “My husband is an excellent lover, and he is a wonderful provider. After all, I was never really close to our father. He always chose Jeannie over me. I was the disgusting little secret he could never get rid of. I never once had his love. He always spoiled Jeannie, and he gave her everything she wanted. I was closer to the woman, who I thought was my mother, but she was just a nasty vampire hybrid.”
Ember frowns, “Everyone waits for me to turn out like my father, but I believe you are the one who inherited his evil gene. My grandparents are awesome grandparents. You have no right to call them anything! They are not your great-grandparents! I refuse to let you hurt them!”
I glimpse over at Oberon Jr., “I am so sorry for what my sister has said—or done. Please do not hold me accountable for her actions. I promise to take her out as soon as I can wrap my hands around her fucking throat!” I angrily yell.
The young man stands exactly the same way, as my father. He turns around, and he holds me in his arms, “I am so sorry… had I known, I would have done things differently. I will talk to you about your grandmother later.” The strange fairy, lightly kisses my cheek.
I study Ava, “So is this what it is all about? Our daddy loved me more, than he ever loved you. Ava, are you done? You failed to ruin my wedding, as you hoped! What is it that you want from me now? You already have done enough to me, and the people I love! What else do you fucking want?”
