Bloody Vows

by J. E Hanson

We end our conversation. I remove the blood from underneath the floor. All the excess blood returns to the fridge. All our important documents return to his desk. The time seems to be drag by slowly. To kill time, I watch television for the next two hours. When the clock reads three minutes until six that is when I quickly heat up a bottle of blood. I pour the contents into a glass, and return to his side. His eyes pop open, and he shows me those beautiful eyes of his again. A human takes a few minutes to sit up, but a vampire can sit up in less than a second. I hand him his cup of warm blood. Even though he is older than most, his fangs still require a lot of blood, after he wakes up. His pearl fangs descend, and then he slowly sips his blood.

I never speak to him in the first five minutes. He is still a vampire, and it takes him a minute to switch from vampire mode to human. He is still groggy, and out of it. He finally regains his senses. He shakes his head, and then he stares at me, “Did anyone enter the plane?”

I want to avoid answering his question, so I caress his lips tenderly with mine for a minute. I exhale a level of frustration, knowing this may set him off, “I refuse to sugarcoat things. Five Greek police officers had to enter the plane to see if we had any drugs—or bombs onboard. I called your brother right away.”

My revelation makes me flinch. I begin to count to myself. He is rather upset, “That is not what I wanted to hear. Did they find anything?”

I pull his hair back in my hands, “They never found anything, and I gave them the proper documentation. I love you, Chris.”

He motions for his phone and I hand it to him. He immediately calls his brother, and tucks the phone underneath his chin. He quickly dresses, and he moves in a flash. He moves our documents, and passports to another bag. He remains on the phone with his brother, and he is talking to him in Greek. He put our suitcases in the car, and then he raises an eyebrow to me. It is my cue to put my sandals on. He abruptly ends his current phone call with his brother. He picks me up, and then he places me in the hummer. He always makes sure my seat belt safely snaps in place. That is his own personal habit. He jumps behind the wheel, and we takeoff.

“You did an excellent job keeping your composure. Under normal circumstances that would have never happened. I would have timed it to land in the evening. I am so sorry, Jeannie.”

He slices, and weaves through traffic to make it to our new mansion. I have not returned, since he took my virginity. He pulls into the driveway. Upon exiting his vehicle, he chose to pick me up again. I wrap my arms around his neck, as he carries me over the threshold. My lips cover his, as he places me in our living room. He holds up an index finger to me, and he leaves in a blur. He takes our luggage to our bedroom. A housekeeper enters the house. He speaks to her in Greek.

The new housekeeper is also a vampire. He hands me a glass of blood, and I quickly chug it down. He shifts me to his back, when I finish the last drop. We fly out the backdoor.

We return to Athens. He lands in an alleyway letting me stand on my own two feet. We return to the Fall Harvest. He wraps his arm around my shoulders keeping me close to him.

We remember the same unusual woman who blessed us with a baby. Christian tries to avoid her, but he is already too late. The woman runs over to me and shrieks. I can hear her verbalize something in Greek. I fail to comprehend what she is saying to me.

He shakes his head, and then he laughs, “She is congratulating us on our daughter.”

“How does she know what we are having?”

Christian asks the woman in his native tongue. The woman shrieks again, and she answers what he asks. She points to my face.

Christian chuckles, “She reports that our daughter is draining the beauty from your face. That is how she knows, we are having a girl.”

This is not what I need to hear, “Do I really look that bad?”

Christian shakes his head no, and chuckles, “You are never as beautiful as you are right now.”

“You are scoring extra brownie points for that one.”

We walk along the cobblestone path, and over to the first food vendor. My stomach lets out a loud growl, as it demands food. Chris hands me a lamb gyro. My appetite slowly returns from Violet’s miracle cure. But, I only want Greek food. We make it in time for desert. While I eat, he immerses himself in the games. He wins another pink teddy bear for our possible daughter.

“This is the second bear I have won. Now I am convinced that the gods are telling us that we are having a girl.”

“I can’t argue with that, and I hope they are right.”

He mashes his lips against mine. We are in the middle of a dark alley. Tonight he chose to get a little frisky. He plants me on the side, away from the crowd, and slides his hand up my dress. Those eyes of his reflect instant mischief. His lips curve up at me, and he quickly glances around us. His hands shift up my dress, and then he quickly unfastens his shorts. He unleashes his astounding cock, and shifts me to his hips. His enormous and thick shaft always overwhelms me. This is the first time we have sex in a crowded area. His mouth covers over mine to muffle out the impending explosion of pure delight. The squeals of pleasure reverberate in his mouth. His hot love pours deep inside of me, as he grunts with his mouth still over mine. We finish our little criminal act of public indecency in the alleyway. We grin at our little scandal. He places me back on the ground, so I can readjust my dress.

“We should do that more often.”

He chuckles, as he escorts me to a road. We pass a line of statues, “I never knew you were such an exhibitionist. I am thankful that you are keeping an open mind, when it comes to sex.”

He jerks me close to him. I giggle, as he kisses my neck. “I am willing to keep an open mind, and be a little more adventurous.”

We kiss, and then something snaps behind me. Christian instantly moves into defense mode. We wheel around, and expect to see rogues. Instead, we see a group of ten mortals. Christian keeps his fangs from descending, but mine descends. These men appear dangerous looking. They start to speak in a foreign tongue. I am unable to make out what they are saying. Christian pulls me behind him, and he yells at the men in his native tongue.

  “What do they want?”

“They want all our money. If we refuse to give them money, they claim that they would hurt us.

“What are we going to do?”

Christian ties his hair back, and he smiles at me, “Never fret, my dear. All I have to do is kick one of their asses, and they will run.”

I hope he is right. One walks up to us holding a gun in his face. In one swift maneuver, Chris snaps the man’s arm back, and then he punches him in the face. Chris shows restraint, because he could easily kill him. The man’s nose starts to bleed. The others run away from us, as he expected. The injured criminal runs away with a bloody nose. Chris looks back at me and grins. He holds his hands out to me.

“So much for that fight, and I am quite disappointed with mortals these days.”

He makes me snicker, as he moves me to his back. We take off in a blur, and we are back inside our mansion in minutes. I can see the wild animal inside him. I can already tell what he wants from me. He always wants sex after a fight. I am the antidote to his excess adrenalin. He tosses me over his shoulder, and we return to our bedroom.

We make love until daylight breaks. He crashes over my body, and he keeps me protected in his arms. I quickly drift off to sleep in no time. He keeps me entangled. He is my antidote for all those terrible nightmares I used to have.

The next day, he surprises me with breakfast in bed, except it is more like dinner in bed.

“You didn’t have to do this!”

He shrugs his shoulders, “I know, but you are my wife. I want to make sure you are always happy.

I grab his arm, “You always make me happy, and I love you. So what do you want to do today?”

“I thought we would go swimming today to stir up the fish.”

He has a wicked smile on his face. I already know what he wants to d
o today. After finishing my breakfast, we take off to his hidden cove. It doesn’t take us long to stir up the fish. After making love, he uncovers a hidden picnic basket. We watch the sunset together with champagne and strawberries.

“Do you miss it? Do you ever miss the sun?”

He shrugs his shoulders, “In the beginning I did, but over time you grow accustomed to watching only sunsets. Television makes it possible for us to see the sun.”

“I never enjoyed the sun anyway, so I won’t miss it either.”

He knows where I am heading with this, and he shakes his head no, “I know you want to turn to our side, but that is not a great idea.”

“Why not? We are married now.”

“I refuse to discuss this. This topic is off the table.”

“What if something happens to me?”

“I will never allow something to happen to you.”

“Things happen all the time. I can’t for the life of me think of a better reason to turn.”

“Please… I refuse to talk about this.”

“Why don’t you want to talk about it?”

“You know my feelings on turning you. We have already discussed this last year. I refuse to turn you, and I will keep my stance on this issue.”

“What happens, if I die during childbirth?”

That did it, and he finally snaps, “I refuse to discuss this! It is not up for a debate! I am taking you back to the mansion right now!”

He picks me up, and he flies us back to the mansion. He sits me down, and he refuses to look at me. He left me in the kitchen. I hear the bedroom door slam, and so much for holding an adult discussion. It is time to fight fire with fire. It is time to hold my ground. I stand up, and I storm back to the bedroom. I have never raised my voice until now.

“I am trying to have an adult conversation with my husband! Let me tell you what will happen in the future! This is how it will look! You, and our baby can live on—but I can’t. I don’t understand it! Your reasoning defies logic! I am your fucking wife! I deserve to be with you, and our baby! Stop fighting with me over this issue! I can’t allow Ava to hurt my family! Will it be fair for our baby to visit my grave? After I die, it will be just you two! What about me? You swore to love me for all eternity! How is allowing my body to rot in a shallow grave—love? Explain it to me, Chris! Explain it to me, as your wife!”

The door opens, and his head remains down. I can see russet tears falling from his chin. I hold his waist, and lean my head on his back, “Please turn me. We can even compromise, if you want. You make deals all the time, when it comes to business. Let us make a business deal right now. If a life or death situation comes up, then you will have to turn me. If no life or death situations come up, then we will not bring this topic up for ten years.”

Christian shows his face to me. A smile escapes his lips, “Okay… that sounds fair. If a life or death situation comes then we will see, but ten years. I promise to turn you, only if a life or death situation is eminent. Until then, you will remain alive. We will review this once you turn thirty. Does that sound okay?”

I smile at him, and then dry his russet tears with my fingertips, “You have a deal.”

I was about to hug him, but he shakes his head no, “We always seal a deal with a handshake Mrs. Hunter. Handshake.”

I grin, and hold my hand out. We shake on our newfound deal. He lets me kiss his tears away, and we seal our business deal with makeup sex.

  Chapter 16

We spend the next two weeks in paradise. We join the grotto a few times to make love. The mansion absorbs majority of our sexcapade. I love it when he cooks, because I crave only his food. The peace here is blissful here. After our two weeks here, I never want to leave. This is our own special slice of heaven.

Christian wakes me up, by gently caressing my back with his plush lips, “We have to go home now.”

“Can we stay a little while longer? I never want to leave.”

He continues to caress my neck with his lips, “I know you want to stay, but we have to go home. We have responsibilities, to which require our undivided attention.”

He returns our suitcases to the hummer. My clothes wait for me on the bed. I went ahead, and took a shower. I quickly change into warmer clothes. It kills me to leave our mansion in Greece. This will always be our home. With a gentle sadness, we lock the doors, and wave goodbye to our mansion. He drives us back to his private airport. He loads our suitcases on the plane. I view Greece one last time, before we say goodbye. He picks me up, and then he carries me in the plane.

The pilot closes the door. He waits for clearance, and then he taxies down the runway. The takeoffs always make me a little nervous. I keep my arms around him. The plane finally levels off in the air.

Christian tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear, “I am sorry, but we have a lot of things in which need finished. You have to take your finals, and keep up your midwife appointments.”

I pout at him, “I know, but this sucks. Thanks for making the past two weeks beautiful and peaceful.”

I lean over his chest. He toys with my hair. I drift off to sleep, and wake up to a couple of soft shakes. “We are finally home baby,” he quietly whispers in my ears.

Ian takes the last remaining suitcases off the plane. My tiara returns to my head, and his crown returns to his head. Christian and I make silly faces at each other. To my disappointment, the paparazzi is already out there to take pictures of us from behind the gate. I am glad I chose to wear an ivory sweater dress at the last minute. After stepping inside the limousine, I am back to reality. There is snow on the ground under the purple crimson sky. There is no sun here. We will never see clear blue skies here, due to the fairy king and elf king. They make it possible for all creatures of the dark to walk around during the daylight.

The doors shut, and we are in front of the castle a half hour later. I stand outside, but Christian picks me up, and then he carries me over the threshold again, “I love you, Mrs. Hunter.”

I grin at him, “I love you too, Mr. Hunter.” He quickly pecks my cheek, and then he returns to face all the Enforcers in the foyer.

All of them have blood and tarry substance hanging off them. They are all wearing their classic leather outfits. The typical Enforcer uniform consists of charcoal leather pants, trench coat, and a tank underneath their jackets.

Alexander appears rough, “We just fought off a hundred rogues. You two missed all the action. We are lucky that the fairies and angels helped us out this time. Leo, Dain, Elvin, Nathaniel, and Daniel are reinforcing the barrier. Joey and Mitch are in the library.”

Christian kisses me again, “I will meet with them in a minute. Let me make sure Jeannie settles into our new bedroom.”

He wraps his hand over mine, and then he escorts me upstairs to the end of the hallway. Our rooms merged into one giant bedroom. His bed sits in the middle of our room. My bed will remain in storage along with the other decorations. Our bathroom seems to double in size. For the most part, we still have his decorations. Instead of one large closet, we now have two large closets. His new closet is next to mine. Our wedding picture rests above the mantle. They removed all the older television sets to make it one television set. This is exactly the same television we had at our reception. He can see one side, and I can see the other. The television feels so realistic. These televisions make it appear, as though you can reach in, and pick up the characters. Christian keeps his two television sets inside our shower, but these sets are the newer version. I have another television set against the closet door in front of the toilet

His toiletries are in a perfect line along one side of the bathroom wall. My toiletries are up against the other wall. I still have my vanity set in an adjacent room.

In our bedroom, he makes sure to place the mirror above our bed. They added music in the walls. We have porches on either side. There is a large ivory rug on the floor with our initials in large gold embroidered letters. The brand new comforter has our
initials embroidered in gold letters too. He smiles, and then he kisses my head, “Do you like our new bedroom now?”

I smile, and hug him, “I love it! Now go take care of your business. I can already tell by my desk that I have tons of schoolwork to catch up on.”

“I will return soon, baby. I have no idea how long this will take, but I love you.”

I hug him tightly, “I love you too, and please be careful.”

We embrace, and he leans down to kiss my stomach. He turns around, and then he confidently leaves our bedroom.

While he is gone, I emerge myself in overdue homework. My books are scattered on my bed, and I start my laptop. There is roughly a month of homework to catch up on. Sophia enters our bedroom to hand me a plate of food. I try to eat some of it, but I want my husband’s cooking instead. I politely nibble here and there. Violet’s cure keeps the butterflies at bay. I fill up on blood.

I spend the entire night working on just one syllabus. I finish all the tests and quizzes online.

Christian struts inside our bedroom. I continue to struggle with this one simple problem. This problem frustrates me by this point.

He briefly peeks over my shoulder, “The answer is negative two.”

“How did you know the answer?” The problem that I’m struggling with, he answers in less than three seconds.

He points at it, “You are supposed to go by order here. You are not going in order.”

He explains his answer to me, and he makes it clearer to me. Of course, I thank him. He purposely yanks off his shirt, sits down, and he pulls out his laptop, “Let me know if you have any more problems like that one.”

“What was your grade point average?”

He smirks at me, “Which year do you want to know?”
