  “I love you, too.”

“You’re the only one who really knows me, inside and out,” I said.

Brett nodded. “Me too.” He kissed me. “We’ll make it work.”

“We’ll make it work,” I repeated.

“Good.” Brett grinned and glanced to the window. “Because it sounds like he’s here.”

My stomach jumped but he only squeezed my hand calmly. “Why don’t you let me do the talking?”

I laughed. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

“It’s love, and Jeff will understand that. He has to.”

Brett was right. When I stood, he kept my hand in his own, and we both faced the door. Time to tell my brother all about the man I loved.

  EPILOGUE

  TWO YEARS LATER

“Y ou may kiss the bride.”

Brett grinned at the minister, then yanked me into his arms and kissed me like he thought he might never see me again. Finally, Jeff tapped on his arm.

“Come on, man, not in front of the parents,” he said.

But my parents couldn’t have been happier. They’d always liked Brett and now he was officially part of the family.

Brett took my hand. “Guess I can save it for the wedding night.”

  Jeff groaned. “Don’t remind me.”

We walked down the aisle and off to the side of the church, where he wrapped his arms around me again as we waited for our guests to file outside.

“I don’t think I can wait until the wedding night,” Brett said. “You look beautiful.”

  “You’re pretty handsome yourself.”

No, that wasn’t true. Brett was the most handsome man I’d ever seen. Right now, all done up in his tuxedo and staring at me with love in his eyes, I knew I’d made the best choice ever when I’d told him how I felt that night at the cabin.

Our ceremony had been small, but beautiful. Close friends and family, including both of my brothers who had eventually gotten over the fact that their best friend was sleeping with their sister.

Next we had the reception and then the honeymoon I couldn’t wait for either.

“We could skip the reception,” Brett suggested.

“You can be patient. You were for a long time before this.”

  He frowned. “Don’t remind me.”

“I’m just saying, a few more hours won’t kill you. I promise I’ll make it worth your while.”

His eyes lit. “That’s more like it.” Then he kissed me and said again, “You’re beautiful.”

“I thought you’d like this dress.”

“It’s not just the dress—it’s everything. Your hair, your dress, but mostly you—knowing you’re mine now. Forever.”

I leaned up to kiss him, touching his cheek at the same time. “I was always yours.”
