Zephyr Page 18

“Kade you need to stop, you need to take a deep breath,” Desmond whispered to me, his hands gripping mine tight as they shook, his body shaking with mine as my breathing worsened.

“But,” I tried to say, but my voice chopped it up, coming out broken and almost completely incomprehensible. Looking at my hands as they shook, green glowed from them, the wind around me became fierce, sharp, even destructive. Desmond’s face was scraped up from the air around us whipping and hitting him over and over.

“Kade, please,” He pleaded with me, his body tightened to me, “breathe” this time pleading with me, the sound of his breathing becoming choppy as well.

He was crying, was this what crying felt like? I lifted a shaky hand to my eye hoping there was a tear, but nothing, just green, wiping it on my clothes, I raised my hand to my eye again, and more green came from it. I was crying, but I was crying magic. I needed to stop, Desmond was right, or I would explode from my emotions.

My body shaking, I did as Desmond said, trying hard to breath properly, taking as many deep breathes as I could. And luckily things around me pulled my attention, helping me to calm, and slow my breathing.

“Kade, we could really use your help over here!” Gabby screamed, her body slamming into the giant tusked creature. It looked like a giant turtle with trees and what looked like hills and rocks cresting all over its shell. Its head looked like a serpent, but instead of a tongue two tusks protruded from its mouth as it swung its head.

“Desmond, follow the lion! The girls need to know where they are bringing Quart.” Simone yelled as fire balls burst from his hands, bouncing off the tusks as if they were nothing.

Karen had managed to destroy the rest of the tree’s with her ultrasonic vibrations. The sound waves ripped through them, cutting them to pieces. Their leaves and roots burning in a fiery explosion. Her body coated in metal, running towards the creature swinging its tusks towards the ground.

Gabby and Karen both physically assaulting it, trying to break off the tusks. Karen created what looked like a huge sword as it glistened in the sun, as it swung down on the tusks it barely made a scratch.

Simone and I clasped hands, our powers burst to life, the air around us turning red. Fire spread past our feet, leaving large scorch marks in its path, we both threw an arm out, fire burst from them. The intense speed and force behind it knocked the creature back a couple steps.

Kat and Ashley gripped hands, following our attack they managed to create what looked like a giant tree like creature as it grew from the ground. It towered over the large turtle like monster. This tree opened what looked like a mouth in its bark and roared. Leaves, moss and what looked like sticky sap were spit all over the monster. It shook its head as if to stop the noise.

Gabby and Karen gripped arms, Karen’s ultra sonic noise ripped through the ground leaving Gabby’s trademark death behind its wake. It slammed into the monster tossing it onto its shell. The tree’s on its back snapped off, its head let out a painful wail of noise. As it struggled on its back, Simone leapt into the air, his sword at the ready, as he was about to land running the monster through a jet of water slammed into him throwing him off the monster.

“Stop, don’t kill him!” Piper screamed as she came running up to us. I turned to see Desmond and the twins as a young man I recognized from my dream step out of a portal.

Piper clapped her hands together, opening a portal, the bright blue from her realm shimmered on the air. The smell of the salty water rippled through. Using her powers she flipped the creature over and pushed it through the portal. Before we could say a word she had closed it back up again.

Not really caring what was happening with them now, I needed to see Quart, to see my twin. It was a weird feeling saying that, he was my twin. I had never had a twin before, but this was mine, we were connected.

Everyone seemed to stop bickering and turn towards Desmond and Quart. The golden lion that roamed the road for Quart was now standing in front of him. Quart looked scared for what was happening, extending his trembling shaky hand to the lion. His twitching finger tips ruffled the mane of the lion. Its mouth opened again as if to roar, and to my surprise Quarts mouth opened releasing the noise we expected from the lion.

Rearing its body to stand and face Quart, the lion shimmered into the air dissolving into Quart. His body began shimming in the exact same way, his body raised off the ground slightly, gold rays of light shone from the cross on his chest his weak points. As I moved closer to him, I could see his eyes, the pure gold of his brown eyes were beautiful, they were so stunning I was almost unable to stop looking.
