A Cowboy, a Bride & a Wedding Vow Page 16

by Shirley Rogers

The music began, and tears of joy formed in Catherine’s eyes as her gaze met Jake’s. In his dark suit he was so handsome. Just looking at him stole her breath. His gaze remained steadfastly on her as she stopped beside him, and Catherine felt his love flow through her. He reached for her hand and enclosed it in his, and she moved closer, wanting to feel his warmth. “I love you,” she whispered.

Jake’s heart felt as if it was going to burst. Catie’s eyes shone with love as she stood beside him, and he was happier than he’d been in his entire life.

A hush fell over the room as the minister began the ceremony, but Jake was only aware of Catie’s presence next to him. He steadfastly repeated his vows to love, honor and cherish her. For Jake, those vows were sacred.

Catie’s voice was sure and strong as she spoke. Jake waited until the minister said, “I now pronounce you man and wife,” then claimed Catie as his wife with a passionate kiss.

Lifting his mouth, he whispered, “I love you,” then he slipped his arm around Catie and drew her tightly against him.

“I love you.” Catie smiled at him.

Together they gestured for Matt to join them, and Jake gathered his son close to his side, his heart swelling with pride.

  This was his family.
