Chapter 1
Ted
I ran my hands through my hair, wringing out the water. After a long day at the office, a shower was just what I needed. I took my time, even though I had to get my ass over to my brother’s for dinner. I tossed the towel onto the floor, strolling out of the bathroom ass-naked. My dick dangled between my thighs, bumping around. It didn’t matter because this place was empty, and I didn’t have anyone to get it stiff. I hadn’t brought a woman here since I bought the house. The only woman in it was my sister-in-law, Angel. It was because of her stealing my brother’s heart that I finally understood the truth about my feelings for my first wife, which were none.
I sat on the edge of my bed feeling lonely as fuck. It had been five years since I’d been with a woman. Yes, it was less than two years that I was in the fake marriage with the black widow, but since I never fucked her it didn’t count. At my age, finding a woman was going to be hard, and a good one would be beyond difficult.
Sally damaged me more than I thought. My first wife was supposed to be my soul mate, but there were a few little glitches. One, she was a lying whore and two, she got sick and died. It left me laced with guilt that things hadn’t been better between us. It wasn’t my fault, but I hadn’t done the right thing and called off the wedding. Now a decade later and I was still paying the price for that decision. I was miserable and alone with no hope for a good wife. There were plenty of money hungry women who would sign up to give me a family, but for a steep price and a divorce later.
My phone buzzed on the side table and I had a feeling it was Angel or Dean. I leaned over, stretching to pick it up. The screen showed a picture of Angel and my nephew. “Hello, beautiful. How are you doing?” I answered suavely.
“I’m fine, but I would go with handsome. I’m calling to make sure your bitch ass was coming to dinner tonight,” Dean barked, getting jealous as always. I thought it was funny as hell to mess with him. It kept him on his toes. Angel was a good woman.
“I said I was, didn’t I? I just got out of the shower. Now put your pretty wife on the phone. You know I’d rather talk to her,” I added, trying to get on his nerves.
“That’s why I called you from her phone because I know you’d answer it, fuckhead.”
“You got that right.” I chuckled. “I’ll be there in about an hour. Okay?” Dean knew I was playing around with him. Angel made him happy and not such a dick.
“Sure thing, bro.” I hung up, then laid on the bed.
They were never ready when I got there. Constantly on each other, fucking like wild bunnies now that she was pregnant a second time. The entire meal they would have their hands on each other. Two years later and they were like a hot new couple. I wanted a love like that. An all-consuming and Earth-shattering love that made you forget about time and obligations.
“Enough,” I yelled to myself, hopping off the bed. I needed to remember I had a set of balls and man the fuck up. I needed to stop being a pussy and get real about shit. My life was passing before my eyes and I had nothing but money to show for it. I worked hard for my own company, but had no heir to leave it to. Two things needed to happen, I either had to find the one, or sell the company.
Once I was in my car, I drove down the street to their house. Dean opened the door and stood there with a twisted mouth.
“I know I’m running late. Sorry.”
“No problem bro, just get inside before Angel freaks out anymore.” Since Dean often had to leave for homicide investigations, she hated to waste time.
“Sorry, where’s my angel at? I have to go make it up to her,” I replied.
“Don’t get fucked up. No matter how buff you’ve gotten I’ll still knock you out.”
“You are too jealous.” I walked into the kitchen and up to Angel. “Hey baby, how’re you doing?”
“Oh, Ted, I’m doing well, but you know my husband is going to get annoyed again.” She laughed me off and shook her head.
“Tough. He needs to prove he’s worthy of you.” I winked at her. It was just fun to fuck with my brother. I had no interest in her at all. He worshipped Angel and they were a perfect couple, and I had to admit I was a bit jealous myself.
The rest of the night, I tried to behave. By the time I went home, I only received one punch in the arm from my brother.
Chapter 2
Katie
“Hello, Mrs. Evans. How are you feeling today?” I asked when I walked into the room. She was a new patient at my office, and this was our second visit. It was her son’s one-year checkup. The little cutie was the first appointment of the day. For Saturdays, I only did a half-day, starting at noon. My appointments were full. Saturday was always my busy day. I worked in this office with three other physicians. Myself and the boss were pediatricians while the other two were general practitioners.
I was grateful for the position. So far, I had great reviews and health grades online and hoped to keep it that way.
“I’m doing good, but you know with a one-year old and another on the way, it’s not easy. Especially with Dean’s schedule or lack of.” I gave her arm a compassionate squeeze of understanding. Many mothers had a hard time when they get pregnant so soon. And from what she told me at our last appointment, Dean was a detective.
“It’ll get better in time,” I offered, walking over to take little Dean from her arms. He smiled at me with his front eight teeth showing.
“Do you have any children, Dr. McGee?” she asked me politely. I shook my head because I had to make a choice and it was a smart one as far as I was concerned; life as a wife of a player or a doctor. Yes, it was the easiest choice I ever had to make.
“Call me, Katie. No, I don’t, but I hope to one day,” I confessed. It was something I wanted, but only with the right man. A man who could make my heart skip a beat, causing an arrhythmia. Who could love me and take care of me when I didn’t feel like being strong. A man I could depend on when needed.
“Oh, I hoped you were speaking from experience,” she muttered, seeming a bit sad.
“I’ve learned from seeing others that it definitely gets easier. By the way where is Mr. Evans, today?” I asked, hoping to change the subject.
“He got a last-minute call and had to get down to the station right away. His brother is going to come get me. Thank goodness for us living close to each other.”
“The one you both mentioned at the last visit?”
“Yes, Ted is really amazing. I just hope he finds a wife one of these days. He’s talking about giving up his company because he doesn’t have any kids to leave it to and Dean loves being a detective, so he doesn’t want to go back behind a desk without solving crimes.”
“I can understand. Many get into medicine and then end up taking a desk job. You said you met your husband through Ted, is there a reason you didn’t like him first?” I asked, wondering if he was so perfect, why did she go for the other one.
“I actually met Dean first on the flight to meet him. Ted was technically my stepdad,” she said, scrunching up her face and biting her lip.
This guy is probably old and now looking for a family after having all his fun. “Oh wow, he’s way older than you?”
“Well, my husband is a lot older than me, but Ted’s thirty-three. My mother’s a whore, so she had
me at fifteen.”
“Wow. It’s clear you don’t get along with her,” I exclaimed, not surprised, considering my cousin had a bad relationship with her mother and often turned to mine for the love she was looking for. My parents were amazing people and had the perfect marriage. I wanted something like that, but every guy I dated turned out to be a toad and nothing like the prince I hoped for. In fact, the last one was the worst. He led me to believe I could have a career and family, but he was more interested in having a stay-at-home wife. I chose my dream of being a doctor over him and it was the easiest choice I ever made.
“She’s doing life in prison for murder among other things. Safe to say most people don’t like her.” I tried to hide my shock, but that bombshell was bit too much.
I gasped, then asked in outright disgust, “And he was married to her?” Fuck, that was so unprofessional.
She smiled, brushing off my distasteful display of decorum or lack thereof. “Well, not really, it wasn’t legal and from what I know, they weren’t sleeping together. Don’t know the details. It’s a long story, but he was working with the Feds to bust her on killing her husbands.”
“Oh, well that’s good. So why is he single? He sounds like a great catch. Didn’t get his brother’s genes?” Man, I was leveling up the gossip and not the professionalism. I moved to the examination table and set little Dean on it with my hands on his thighs, so he didn’t get away. I undressed him and started my examination. Thankfully, the little guy was easy to work with so the exam moved quickly along.
She didn’t seem to mind our little powwow, and considering she was a new mom, I found most had no females to talk with on a regular basis. “Haha. No, they are both hot, but…” A knock on the door came before a freaking hot as hell man walked in.
Immediately, I knew it was Ted. The name didn’t fit him. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a pair of matching black and gray running pants. He turned his thousand-watt smile on me. What would seem innocent to anyone else felt anything but. I read danger all over his form and the way he was looking at me, I felt vulnerable and naked.
“Hello, beautiful,” he said, kissing Angel’s cheek but refusing to take his gray eyes from me. They were pinning me in place. Dean fidgeted under my hands, so I turned to finish his checkup.
“Katie, this is my brother-in-law, Ted,” she said.
“Ted, this is Dr. McGee, Dean’s doctor.” I only managed a nod, but I did stop examining Dean. He walked passed Angel and grabbed my hand and lifted it to his mouth, placing a kiss on it. Does he go around kissing every woman he met?
“Wow, smart and sexy. I’m a lucky man.”
“Ted, please leave the doctor alone until she’s done.”
“Angel, I’m pissed at you. Somehow you managed to keep your doctor’s identity from me.” Angel was looking at him like he was some alien. I tried to ignore them by continuing with Dean. Removing his diaper, I checked his vitals and circulation. I fumbled while refastening his diaper, but I managed before he could pee on me. Angel grabbed onto her son then put his clothes back on.
I did all I could to avoid looking at the man I could feel staring through me. I turned around to check on Dean, now fully dressed, then Angel handed him over to his uncle. His strong hands were holding Dean and all I could see was him holding our baby. Wow, my ovaries just moved into prime breeding mode. I took in his features, wondering how a man was this good-looking.
My ex-fiancé was considered hot, but this guy was ten times sexier and I wanted to send Angel and her son away and let those gray eyes that were currently undressing me take in the full effect before fucking me as hard as possible. Damn, the room felt a thousand degrees warmer than it did a minute ago.
The way his arms held onto his nephew told me he was extremely protective. Every instinct screamed to beg him to take me. His strong hands dwarfed Dean’s back and my eyes were glued to that spot.
“Angel, take Dean,” he said. “Katie,” he said. I followed Dean’s smiling face until I could feel Ted in my personal space. My eyes darted up to his, catching a cocky smile. “We have a date tonight. When do you get out of here?”
“You could ask,” I scolded him, my voice coming off weak and nothing close to authoritative. I had to show some willpower and not act like a simple broad.
“I did. Let me ask again. What time do you get out, gorgeous?” he asked me, purposely ignoring my meaning. He grasped my chin and lowered his head, his lips inches from mine. The warmth radiating off his body only intensified the burning chemistry between us. I felt nervous, my heart pounding faster than ever before.
“In four hours, but you didn’t ask me out,” I whispered, both anxious for him to leave and hoping he would close the distance.
“I didn’t because that implies there’s a choice.” He stepped back, leaving me standing there with my chin up waiting for that imaginary kiss. Then he grabbed Dean and the diaper bag. I saw Angel give him a look and he nodded.
“Thank you, Katie,” Angel said with a giggle.
Ted turned back to me with a crooked smile and walked over. “Dean, say goodbye to your Aunt Katie.” I blushed. Before I could respond, Ted’s mouth covered mine then he quickly pulled back. I was standing there again, feeling brainless, my lips tingling so intensely I absently pressed my fingers to them.
“Kiss,” Dean cooed, clapping his hands and shaking me out of my daze. Both Evans men were smiling at me. One innocently and the other with intentions laced in his.
Ted gazed down at Dean and cockily said, “Yes, little man. Only I get to kiss your aunt.”
“I’m not his aunt. Don’t confuse the boy.”
“There’s no confusion. You’ll be his aunt, no matter what it takes. See you later, sweetheart.” He winked then opened the door and let Angel get by. He gave me one more look before leaving.
I leaned on the table, then pressed one hand to my chest, feeling the rapid pace. I had to stay away from him, but one date wouldn’t be too bad. I was off tomorrow anyway. I was just thinking I was due a good lay and Ted screamed amazing lover.
I started to shake as I made the notes. There was a knock at the door and I secretly hoped it was him. Angel walked back in. She hugged me tight. “I’m sorry. He’s never acted like that before. Besides, how’s Dean?”
“He’s okay. Everything seems good. You should come back in six months.”
“He’s really a good man,” she said, hugging me again before running out the door. I was left filling out forms and cooling down before I saw my next patient. The four hours flew by and before I knew it, Ted was sitting in the waiting room. I spotted him while handing the receptionist the files to update in the system.
“Hey gorgeous, I’m here like I promised,” he announced.
“I’m sorry. I’ve got a couple more things to do before I can leave.”
“That’s fine. I can wait.” The hope that he would change his mind faded as he took a seat in the waiting room.
Chapter 3
Ted
Fuck me, she came into the lobby and I could see she was tired as hell. My girl needed her feet massaged and a nice bubble bath. She brushed a strand of her brown hair behind her ear nervously. Her smile was timid at first, but then grew to her eyes. And what pretty ones they were. I could stare into them for hours. They were a deep green with flecks of brown around the pupil. Beautiful was too weak a word to describe her features. Stunning, breathtaking, sexy, gorgeous, and that was just the beginning. I could feel her soul when she looked at me and I wanted it. I was going to take what was mine.
From the second I saw her, I wanted to give her all I had and then some. The thought of her bouncing on my cock played through my head. I greedily and possessively kissed her earlier. I knew it wasn’t professional, but I couldn’t resist when I saw the look of longing in those bright eyes and parted lips.
“Take your time, sweetheart. I’ve got to run to CVS.” She arched her brow at me. “It’s not for that.” It really wasn’t for condom
s because I wasn’t going to use anything between us. I was clean, and she needed my babies inside her. I didn’t miss the way she looked at me while I was holding my nephew.
“Whatever.” She turned out of the room.
“I’ll be back in ten,” I told the receptionist. “By the way what’s her favorite scent?”
“Strawberries,” the woman said.
“Thanks.” I hurried to get the things I needed for the rest of the evening. When I finished, she and the receptionist were locking up.
“Not trying to sneak away, are you?” I asked as I closed the distance between us.
“I’m not, but it isn’t like you’d let me get away, would you?” She arched her brow and fixed her large bag over her shoulder, then walked towards me.
“No, sweetheart. Not a chance in hell,” I answered, leaning down to give her a peck on the cheek. I took her hand and we waved to the receptionist. Katie’s face was beet red. She’d better get used to it because I was going to kiss her whenever I could.
She looked up at me because I had at least a foot on her. “How are we supposed to do this? My car is here. Are we taking both?”
Shaking my head, I directed her to my ride. “We’re taking my truck. We can pick up your car tomorrow.” The thought of us being separated made me nuts. I felt like I spent a lifetime away from her since we met a few hours ago. I opened the door and helped her in.
Once I got around to my side and in the seat, she asked, “What’s the game plan tonight?” I could tell she was torn between letting me control the situation or taking over herself.
“We’re going to my house.” I pulled onto the road and headed toward my house a few miles away. I’d bought a home near Dean and Angel’s. It had five bedrooms and was in the middle of a gated suburb subdivision.
She shook her head at me, and snapped, “Wow, you’re skipping the whole date thing, aren’t you?”
I chuckled, giving her a smile before focusing on the road ahead. “Retract those claws, Katie. I’ve got plans for us tonight, but none have you on my dick. Unless…you want it?” I offered. She crossed her arms, but I could see her squirming in her seat. “Fine, do you like Chinese?”
