Calendar Girl

Katie leaned into the touch, let her eyes close briefly before opening them and whispering, “Now, kiss me.”
And Addison did.
The world fell away. There was no sound of fishing boats, no teasing from health care aides. There were no jobs. No concerned parents. No worried siblings, no stomach pain, no clients. There was only her and Katie and the soft loving warmth of that kiss. Addison knew without one iota of doubt that she could stay right there. Forever.
Their lips parted, but they stayed close, remained in each other’s arms. Katie looked deeply into Addison’s eyes—Addison was sure she could feel it in her soul—and reached up to brush her hair aside. No words were spoken, but Addison was certain she knew exactly what Katie was thinking, because she was thinking it too: She wasn’t ready to say those three words yet, but they were right there, just waiting, and it wouldn’t be long.
This moment, this woman, was it. She’d never been more positive of anything in her entire life.
Addison leaned forward and kissed Katie again. With everything she had.
Because this was it.
This was it.
