Breaking our kiss, I gave her a long look, so I would always remember her just like this. Happy.
My throat felt tight. I could have said that I loved her, and maybe she would have said it back to me this time instead of some smart-ass quip. Then again, maybe not.
Instead of telling her the three words on the tip of my tongue, I pressed a werewolf talisman kiss into her forehead.
“You gave me a werewolf talisman! I feel it tingling!”
I smiled. “Did you really think I made it up?”
“It’s real. I know that now.” Her eyes searched mine. “What does the talisman do?”
“If you’re ever in big trouble, just call my name from your deepest heart and I will come for you. I will always come for you, Samantha Moon.”
