Questioning Love: A Lesbian Romance Page 6

by Amy Storm

The possibility of getting caught didn’t bother Olivia as long as Kerry didn’t get fired if the owner showed up. It didn’t matter anyway because Kerry wasn’t letting up. The sensation of Kerry’s fingers against Olivia’s clit meant she wasn’t going anywhere. Soon after, Olivia had unfastened Kerry’s bra and slid it down her arms. She pushed Kerry backwards until she was lying on the floor staring up at her.

It was time for Olivia to get down to business. She had never been one for foreplay. She pulled down her panties and reached down pulling off Kerry’s also. With them both naked, it was time for the real fun to begin. She ran her hands over Kerry’s smooth legs, up her thighs, her stomach and up further still until she was lying between Kerry’s legs. She kissed Kerry’s neck while rubbing herself against Kerry. With a slow and seductive pressured rhythm, it didn’t take long for them to work up a sweat with pounding heartbeats and rapid breathing.

She straddled Kerry’s thigh and continued her grinding while her fingers fondled Kerry’s clit. Kerry raised her hips and pressed her leg up further giving Olivia something to ride. Olivia leaned over needing to kiss Kerry and feel her tongue to bring her to an orgasm. Breathless and in desperate need of her own release, she increased the pressure against Kerry’s clit. The result of hearing Kerry moaning and breathing fast in her ear gave Olivia the extra push to bring it home for herself. Kerry screamed with the release of her orgasm, and Olivia felt it pulsing against her fingers.

Kerry pushed Olivia back down on the floor. “Let me take care of you now.”

Olivia laid back and let Kerry take over. She felt Kerry’s fingers circling her and dipping down further. She spread her legs as Kerry slid her fingers in and out of her, curling and stroking the right spot. She closed her eyes and dug her heels into the carpet and clawed at the clothes lying near her, reaching for anything and everything. A flash of red hair between her legs caught her attention as Kerry lowered her head between her thighs. The warm tongue circling her clit taking turns with the soft lips massaging it added another simultaneous dimension of pleasure. Olivia rolled her hips up into Kerry needing to feel more contact, more satisfaction. Kerry had a firm grip on her waist and moved with her meeting each thrust and roll of her hips.

The tension continued to build and she held her breath. She wanted it so bad, but at the same time she didn’t want it to end. It wasn’t up to her decide as her body continued to respond to each flick of Kerry’s tongue and each thrust of her fingers inside of her. She turned her head to the side and was faced with their reflection in the dressing room mirror, which didn’t help stifle her impending orgasm. Kerry must have sensed it too, because she doubled up on her efforts. Olivia could no longer hold her breath, and she let it out with a scream so loud that she was sure anyone walking by outside the shop would hear.

After getting dressed, she exchanged phone numbers with Kerry, but knew she would never call her or see her again. It slipped her mind, and Olivia left without buying anything.

  Chapter Eight

It was Saturday late afternoon, and Olivia was getting ready for dinner with Mary. She enjoyed talking to Mary, but she felt dishonest since Mary didn’t know what her role at the church was. She wasn’t sure Mary would talk to her if she found out the real reason she had been at the church. Tonight, she would focus on being a friend to Mary and forget about the whole investigation. The more she talked to Mary, parts of her childhood surfaced. Some of the memories were good ones, but it always ended with her being jolted back to the reality of not having her parents around. Mary was a good influence for her and helped to break down her walls. Olivia had given up on relationships and threw herself into her work instead. She put a cage around her heart to protect it and wouldn’t let anyone close enough for fear of them breaking it.

On the way, she stopped at an Italian bakery and purchased a loaf of fresh bread. While the guy was getting her order ready, the rainbow cookies on the counter caught her attention. She hadn’t had any in years. Her parents used to buy them for her as a treat on Saturday evening after dinner. They looked delicious with red, green, and yellow layers of soft spongy cake with raspberry jam between each layer drenched in chocolate.

She found a parking spot outside of Mary’s apartment with fifteen minutes to spare. Olivia put her hand up ready to ring the doorbell when Mary opened the door before she had a chance.

“Hi, Olivia. Come on in sweetheart.” She took Olivia’s coat and hung it up for her in the small closet to the right of the front door as she entered. “Come and sit. Make yourself at home.”

Olivia handed the bread and cookies to Mary. “Thanks for inviting me.”

“No problem, sweetie. I told you that you didn’t need to bring anything.”

Olivia waved off the notion. “Don’t be silly. It’s the least I could do. You’re always so kind to me, and you share your delicious baking with everyone at the church, especially me.”

Mary walked a few feet behind her and made her way to the small kitchen and placed the bread and cookies on the counter.

Olivia took a seat at the end of the plush green couch in the living room. She looked around the room as she let her guard down letting her tough exterior fade into the background for now.

Mary returned from the kitchen. “Would you like the grand tour?”

  “Sure.”

“Well, obviously this is the living room.” Olivia followed in behind her noticing the matching love seat off to the side. The walls were a nice light blue with gray accents. It was warm and cozy.

“This is the kitchen and the dining room.” The space behind them was the kitchen, and beside the kitchen was a small dining room with a gorgeous cherry table in the center. There were placemats and settings for four people. Olivia’s stomach felt uneasy as she realized this was a setup, but it was too late to back out now. She hated surprises.

  “The lasagna smells amazing, Mary.”

“I hope you have a big appetite.”

Before Olivia could answer, the front door opened, and Mary ran to the living room almost knocking Olivia down in the process. A tall, muscular, handsome man with thick, dark, wavy hair gave Mary a hug lifting her off the floor. “Hi, Ma. How are you?”

Olivia stood behind at the entrance to the living room gritting her teeth hoping this wasn’t a matchmaking attempt. Mary knew she was single, but she didn’t know she was a lesbian.

Once Mary’s feet were back on the floor, she turned to Olivia waving her over. “Olivia, this is my son, Larry. He’s a big-time lawyer, and he’s single,” she said with a wink.

Olivia thought she would die. Are you fucking kidding me? Mary, I’m going to kill you! She brushed it off and planted one of her cordial smiles across her lips. She needed to get through the night and find an excuse to let them both down without hurting their feelings.

She extended her hand out to Larry. “Nice to meet you, Larry.”

Larry shook her hand placing his left hand on top of hers embracing it. “Mom, you were right. She is absolutely beautiful.”

“I told you. She has her own business and does work for us at the church a few days a week.”

Olivia blushed and fought hard to mask her uneasiness. Not only was she hiding who she was and why she was at the church, she was hiding her sexuality too. Now wasn’t the right time to make that announcement. The door opened again hitting Larry in the back. Olivia had forgotten about the other place setting on the table.

“Why are you standing in front of the door, you big lug? Move it,” a female said.

Seconds later, a beautiful gorgeous blond woman peaked out from behind Larry after shoving him to the side. She had emerald-green eyes that sucked Olivia in and held her there. The woman grabbed Mary giving her a big hug and squeezing her tight. The woman smiled at Olivia over Mary’s shoulder, but it was an uncomfortable who are you kind of smile. She had shoulder length golden waves of windblown locks that met the top of her black leather coat. As Mary released her, Olivia noticed she was
wearing dark blue jeans and black boots. She was tall and thin, taller than Olivia. She took off her leather coat allowing Olivia to get a look at her nice ass and breasts, but Olivia was still drawn to her eyes.

Mary turned to Olivia. “Meet my other baby, Melanie.”

Melanie looked over at Olivia sizing her up and down with those big beautiful green eyes. She smiled giving Olivia that uncomfortable smile again.

Olivia felt butterflies mixed with nausea. She felt her world spinning and it was hot. She didn’t remember it being so hot before. She took two steps towards Melanie.

“Nice to meet you, Melanie.” Olivia went to shake her hand, but she stumbled forward and Melanie caught her by the shoulders.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”

Mary touched her back. “Are you okay dear?”

“I’m fine. Thank you. I feel better now. Dinner smells so good, I guess it reminded me how stupid I was to skip lunch.”

Melanie punched Larry in the arm. “I don’t know if I’ve ever had that effect on someone before. What about you, casanova?”

Olivia bit her lip. What a way to make a first impression.

Mary headed towards the kitchen. “Well, everyone let’s get washed up and get ready to eat before we all faint.”

Larry and Melanie followed in behind Olivia. She washed her hands first catching her two dinner dates staring at her in the mirror. She glanced down at what she was wearing, which was simple jeans and a light gray sweater with black boots. She had a hint of lipstick, but otherwise looked natural since that is how Mary was accustomed to seeing her at church. She cursed at herself for not making more of an effort. She could give a crap about impressing Larry, but Melanie was a different story. She would have chosen something more flattering and at least used more makeup.

Mary sat at the end of the table, and Olivia sat on the side so she could be near Mary. She looked up and found Larry sitting across from her with Melanie seated beside him.

Mary stood from the table. “What would everyone like to drink?”

Larry didn’t take his eyes off Olivia while he answered. “Do you have any wine, Mom?”

“I have some red wine. Is that okay with everyone? I also have some soda and bottled water.”

  In unison everyone replied, “Wine.”

Olivia needed something to take the edge off.

Mary poured everyone a glass. “I would like to make a toast.”

Larry held his glass in the air. “Get those glasses up ladies.”

Mary held her glass high. “To my family including Olivia, whom I consider family too. I appreciate everyone coming here tonight. It’s so rare that I get to spend time with everyone all together at the same time.”

Larry kissed Mary. “We love you too, Mom. Thanks for inviting us.”

Melanie gave Mary a hug and a kiss. “You are the best Mom in the world.”

Olivia hugged Mary. “I love you too, Mom.” Everyone laughed and clinked glasses.

Olivia was in deep thought pondering over what to do about Melanie. She got a vibe from her, but it was even more complicated than that considering she was Mary’s daughter. There was also the fact that she wasn’t who Mary thought she was. Olivia was oblivious to the conversation around her, only picking up bits and pieces of family chit-chat and gossip. Being around Melanie was different from other women she was attracted to. She bit her lip and tried to calm down her racing thoughts.

Between mouthfuls, Larry spoke to Olivia. “So, Mom tells us you volunteer at the church and that you own a successful business?”

“Yes, I love my time at the church. I feel better when I’m there and everyone has been so welcoming.”

Mary interrupted her. “Larry, tell Olivia what you do.”

“I don’t want to bore her to death.”

Mary turned to Olivia. “He’s so modest. He’s a partner at his law firm.”

Olivia tried to remain as friendly as she could under the uncomfortable circumstances. “Where do you practice?”

“Out of downtown Boston. Our firm is Miller, Wozniak, and Nevels.”

  “Wow, a partner? That’s impressive.”

Larry smiled. “It’s hard work, but I enjoy it.”

After they finished dinner Mary stood. “Melanie, let’s give Olivia and Larry some space to talk. Come help me with the dishes and then we will have dessert.”

Olivia didn’t want to be left alone with Larry, but she used her charm and made small talk while the other two busied themselves in the kitchen. To her relief, Larry excused himself when Mary returned.

“What do you think about Larry? Any sparks?” Mary wiggled her eyebrows and grinned.

“Uh...uh...sorry, Mary. He’s very sweet and kind, but no sparks.”

Mary frowned. “I thought you two would hit it off. He’s handsome and smart and you’re beautiful and intelligent. You’re both successful.”

  “Sorry.”

Mary forced a smile and returned to the kitchen. She reappeared with a platter of Olivia’s rainbow cookies and cinnamon buns she made earlier. Melanie was right behind her with a tray of mugs with piping hot dark roast coffee. Olivia took a deep breath to calm her nerves and fight whatever invisible force that was pulling her towards Melanie.

Melanie sat down beside Olivia this time. “Olivia, you are beautiful. Are you a model?”

Olivia’s face flushed with embarrassment and she felt that nauseous feeling again. “Me? No, I’m definitely not a model.” Her voice squeaked as she spoke. She took a bite of one of the rainbow cookies, praying that Melanie would focus her attention somewhere else.

“Don’t be silly. You have beautiful cheekbones and a unique, gorgeous profile. I would love to do a photo shoot of you.”

Olivia felt even more insecure now without her makeup to hide behind. “Are you a photographer?”

“Yes, I own my own photography business.”

“Oh really? That sounds exciting. What type of photos do you take?”

“I do photo shoots for weddings, family gatherings, birthday parties, pets, just about anything. I love portraits, landscapes, wildlife, everything.”

“Well, I would love to take a look at your work sometime. Do you have an office?”

“I have a small studio in my condo in Cambridge. Why don’t you come by tomorrow before the weekend comes to an end? I mean, if you’re not busy?”

“That sounds great. Let me get your address.”

“Here, take this.” Melanie handed Olivia a silver and black business card that read, Melanie’s Photo Shoot Lounge.

“What time should I stop by tomorrow?”

Larry returned. “I’m back. Did anyone miss me?”

Mary grabbed his hand. “We all did, sweetheart.”

Melanie rolled her eyes at Olivia.

“How about I stop by around eleven tomorrow, and we could go grab a bite for lunch,” Olivia asked.

“Great, I’ll show you some of my work if you promise to let me take some pictures of you.” Melanie nudged Olivia with her elbow.

“I’ll have to think about that one.”

It was getting late and Larry stood up first. “Olivia, it was a pleasure to meet you. If you change your mind and want to get together for coffee or drinks, just let me know.”

Olivia shook his hand and smiled. “Thanks. It was nice meeting you, Larry.”

He grabbed his coat and keys. “Bye, Ma.” He blew her a kiss. “Later, sis.”

Mary ran after him to give him a hug. She wrapped his scarf around him tight. “Call me when you get home.”

  “Okay, Mom. Bye, everyone.”

Olivia and Melanie waved. Olivia started feeling sick again thinking about seeing Melanie tomorrow with just the two of them. Was Melanie single? Does she date women? She is so beautiful. What if I’m getting the wrong signals? She did say I was beautiful, but was that just to get my business for a photo shoot? Her palms were sweating.

Olivia stood. “I guess I bet
ter get going too. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow, Melanie.”

“Me too. I’ll pick out some things to show you. See you around eleven.”

Olivia hugged Mary with a warm embrace. “Thanks for dinner and introducing me to your family. I had a nice evening, and the food was delicious.”

“You’re welcome. I’m glad you came and had a chance to meet my family. They both enjoy your company as much as I do.”

Olivia shook Melanie’s hand, and their eyes locked on each other. Olivia waited for Melanie to look away first, but she didn’t. The butterflies in her stomach went into overdrive while her heart pounded in her chest. “See you tomorrow, Melanie.” She headed out the door.

Olivia’s face felt like it was going to explode. She didn’t know why her body was responding this way. She hadn’t felt butterflies since she was a teenager gawking at Ms. Mahoney in her tenth grade Spanish class. She looked forward to attending class each day because of her. She was so beautiful. Ahh...the memories.

Olivia turned the TV on when she got home, trying to keep her mind from going crazy. She grabbed a bottle of beer and guzzled it down. She couldn’t stop thinking about Melanie and how she made her feel. Melanie was sexy and gorgeous, but different somehow. Olivia felt like a teenager with a crush. Should I go with a natural look like tonight, or something like I would normally wear? She played back in her mind over and over again what Melanie said. Are you a model? You are beautiful. Maybe just this one time she should go with natural and try something new. If anything happened between the two of them, it wouldn’t be because of anything she wore or how she looked. Olivia knew there was something there, she felt it.

  Chapter Nine

The next morning, Olivia looked over at her alarm and leapt out of bed. She had tossed and turned all night, finally falling asleep as the rising sun filtered through her curtains. It was going on nine o’clock now, giving her a little over an hour to get ready. She was excited, but nervous about meeting Melanie without Mary there to distract her. She reached for her bathrobe laying at the foot of the bed and wrapped it around her tight.
