Losing Her Page 2

by Cori Williams

And now, after a few years of being an opening act, Jensen Outlaws finally made it big enough for a tour of our own. I still felt like I needed to be pinched on a daily basis. Life couldn’t get any better. Well, it could, but that thought brought me back to the here and now, climbing upwards before I was finishing in her mouth. I slapped her ass when she pushed up from her knees and turned around, batting her lashes at me, probably thinking that I had changed my mind.

“Thanks, sweetheart. See ya,” I said, standing to zip up my pants and make sure my guest found her way out. We sure as hell didn’t need any stow-aways.

“Can’t I at least get your autograph?” She asked in a whiny voice and I shrugged my shoulders in defeat, ushering her out the door and shoving a pre signed postcard with the bands picture plastered across the front, into her hand–the perfect consolation prize. Why the hell these people wanted my autograph was beyond me. She mumbled something that I didn’t catch because I was slamming the door on the bus, ready to get home.

A shrill whistle sounded as soon as I turned around and I saw Colton standing there with a big grin on his face. “You finally get some? That was some dry spell, dude.”

“Shut the fuck up,” I pushed on his shoulder and scanned the rest of our tight quarters. “Riley’s not back yet? I’m ready to go. Wasn’t he supposed to be back by now?”

“Yeah, well… you know my brother. He’s never on time for anything. We’ll get going soon enough. Why? You in a hurry?” He smirked before turning to shuffle through the living area down the narrow hallway that led to where we slept. He already knew the answer. While I loved being on the road with the guys, I also missed home. I’d been counting down the days until we got back, and every time I slashed another day off the calendar, I felt like I could breathe a little bit better.

  I was almost home.

I was ready to see my girl.

  Chapter 2

  Meeting Her

  Lawson

LIKE I SAID, when we first got into this business, we were young and stupid. Not too much has changed other than some years in the game and maybe a little bit more smarts, but plenty of people would argue with you there. But when I was nineteen, standing in the wings and looking out to a crowd made up of thousands of people…it was mind-blowing. Girls were throwing themselves at us, half dressed, sans underwear, which ended up on the stage a lot of the times. Jensen Outlaws was three young, pretty good looking guys, and the chicks were in love. We didn’t mind.

I met her after about a year of being on the road. We had performed at a North Carolina county fair on a blazing hot night, and afterwards the girls knew right where to find us. The first thing I noticed were her eyes, an aquamarine blue that was so clear and bright and framed by these thick, black lashes. I could still see them in the darkness. I couldn’t pull my eyes away from them.

She was hanging back from the group of girls that were fawning all over us. I think that’s what drew me to her the most. Then I noticed the rest of her. Her tiny frame, the smoothness of her tan skin, the way her barely there cutoff shorts were riding low on her hips, a plaid shirt tied around her waist; then I got to her feet and I laughed. We were at the fair, where it was muddy and dirty. And she had on a pair of worn Converses. She was probably the only girl at the show who didn’t have on a pair of boots. That’s when I knew she was different. I had to have her, someway, somehow.

I closed the distance between us, pushing away the fact that I was the one doing the chasing; not the usual for me. “You don’t look like you’re from around here.”

Her eyebrows shot up and she pushed away a strand of dark hair that escaped her high pony tail, probably to keep her neck from sweating. “Does that line usually work for you?”

“Um…well, it’s not…I mean, I guess.” What the fuck was wrong with me? I never got tongue tied around girls, ever. Colton liked to call me Mr. Smooth, because he said I could talk the panties off anything with a heartbeat. He didn’t seem to have much of a problem with that himself.

“Well, it’s not going to work on me,” she stated matter-of-factly, crossing her arms over her chest, which only caused her tits to rise up in the tight white tank top she had on. I wanted to bury my face in between them and make it my new home but judging by the way she was scowling at me, I don’t think she would’ve approved.

“Alright….” I rocked back on the heel of my boots. “Enjoy the show?”

  “Nope, not really.”

“Wow, don’t try to put it nicely.”

“I’m sorry, that was rude. I’m just not into this kind of music, because—”

“Because you’re not from around here?” I finished for her, smirking when she finally let a smile slip.

“Exactly. I let my friend drag me here,” she pushed a thumb towards a girl with springy blonde curls who was currently drooling all over Colton. “And since she’s about the only friend I’ve made since I moved here, I figured I would.”

  “How nice of you.”

“Well, that’s just the kind of girl I am.”

“And does this nice girl have a name?”

She pursed her lips, studying me carefully, her head tilted to one side before she finally gave in and let her name slip. “Campbell Wynn.”

  “Campbell…that’s different. I like it.”

“Oh, I’m so glad,” she answered with a roll of her eyes. I laughed.

  “Well, I’m Lawson Reynolds.”

  “I know who you are.”

  “Oh, I thought you weren’t a fan?”

She placed both hands on her hips, pursing her lips. This girl had sass—I liked it. “Nope, definitely not a fan but I think every girl in the audience tonight was screaming your name. Over and over again. It would be kind of hard not to know your name. Oh, Lawson Reynolds,” she moaned dramatically, making my dick twitch in my jeans.

I leaned towards her and she crossed her arms over her chest but she didn’t back away. “I can make you scream my name later just like that, if you want, darlin’.”

“Oh another line? Do you have a list of them hidden somewhere, Sug?” She asked in a perfect southern belle twang.

“Maybe.” I answered with a shrug, grinning at the nickname she had coined me with. “So you think I’m sweet as sugar, huh? You can call me Sug anytime you want,” I wiggled my eyebrows and she groaned, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

“You might think you are,” she mumbled.

We ended up talking for a couple of hours. Eventually, we moved back to the bus and I learned everything there was to know about this girl. She had moved to the area a little over a year ago when her parents split up. She was almost finished with her senior year, and had no clue what she was doing after school, but knew she would figure it out eventually. She loved anything you could dance to, and all of the classics, but hated country music. She’d had one serious boyfriend that she broke up with before she moved. And she was funny. She probably had the driest sense of humor of anyone I’d ever met and I loved it.

The sky was completely dark when we finished talking. I groaned when I looked at the time, knowing that the guys would be back soon and we would be hitting the road. I didn’t want to leave her yet.

I turned towards her and knew I needed to at least get a kiss from her, to savor her taste and hold me over until I saw her again—And yes, I knew that I would be seeing her again. I would make sure of it.

I think she knew what I was planning to do because she was already waiting for me, her lips parted and her blue eyes hooded. I wrapped an arm around her waist, resting my hand on the bare sliver of skin that was peeking out. I didn’t want her to change her mind so I went right for it, pressing my lips to hers, and it was everything I had been dreaming of since I laid eyes on her.

Her lips were soft and plump, and she did this thing with her tongue, flicking it soft and then hard and gently grazing my own with her teeth. It made me want to whip my dick out on the spot and have her repeat that same magic. She was agg
ressive, pushing harder against me, sliding her hands up and underneath my shirt. I couldn’t get enough of this girl’s mouth and her hands—her everything. I was in pure and utter ecstasy just by the touch of her mouth. But I wanted more—no, I needed it.

When my hands slid down to undo the button on her shorts, she didn’t stop me. When I slipped my fingers inside her panties, groaning at the slick heat and tight entrance, she moaned into my mouth. I explored her with my fingers, never unlatching my mouth from hers, until I was pushing her down the narrow hallway and onto the bottom bunk I called home. As soon as her head hit the pillow and I hooked one of her legs around my waist, the drunken effect of my kisses must have worn off. Her eyes went clear and she shook her head back and forth, pressing a hand against my chest to stop me. “No, no, no. This is so not happening. I’m not going to become another one of your conquests.”

“What? It’s not like that,” I argued. It wasn’t true, I could tell she was different. I wasn’t going to lie and say that I was a good boy all the time, I had hook ups. But Campbell was different from all of those other girls.

“Uh-huh. I’m sure that’s another one of your lines you tell every girl you bring back here.”

“It sure as hell isn’t! You’re different, I can already tell.”

She rolled her eyes in the darkness, sitting up and pushing me backwards at the same time. “Sorry, Sug. You might be sweet, but this isn’t happening. I don’t know why I let it go so far. I guess I got caught up in the moment.”

I exhaled a deep breath. “Way to leave a guy hanging,” I teased, adjusting the painfully hard erection that was tight against my jeans.

“Really not worried about your blue balls, dude,” she said with a straight face before sliding off the bed. “Listen, you seem like a pretty decent guy.” She pulled her phone out of her back pocket, tapping at the screen before pushing it into my hands. I smirked when I saw a new contact, titled Sugar and promptly added my number in. “But I’m just not into random hookups.” She stuck out her hand and I looked at it like a foreign object. She wanted to shake my hand—the one whose very fingers were just inside of her, making her moan and twist against me in the hottest fucking way imaginable.

Well, why the hell not? I shrugged my shoulders and engulfed her small hand in mine, hoping that I wasn’t the only one who noticed the spark that zinged the second our hands met. She might’ve just friend zoned me, but there was no way in hell it would stay like that for long.

Soon enough, she would be my girl.

  Chapter 3

  Campbell

“HOLY SHIT, CAM. You feel so fucking good.” He thrusted up harder and I swirled my hips around, leaning back as I kept up for the ride; but soon after, he flipped me over—My stomach pushed against the plush comforter as he pounded into me from behind, gripping my hips tightly as I clenched around him, completely coming undone when he flicked at my clit and came soon after, emptying himself inside me with a loud grunt that filled the empty room.

My eyes were heavy. I let them fall shut as my breathing returned to normal, and he bit at my shoulder before sliding out of me. I was completely and utterly spent, and it felt freaking fantastic. This man…I couldn’t get enough of him. I hadn’t experienced this before, it was odd, but thrilling.

I didn’t think I really wanted a relationship, I didn’t have time for one, but he had seemed to worm his way right in and I fell hard.

The bed shifted as he slid off it, returning quickly with a warm washcloth to clean me up. “I’m just gonna stay right here for the rest of the day,” I mumbled into my pillow, feeling totally okay with doing just that.

“Sounds like the perfect plan to me,” he feathered a kiss onto the crook of my neck, sliding his hands up my bare back before snaking around my waist. “I can have you all to myself for the day. You won’t be able to walk for a week straight,” he promised.

“That sounds like an excellent idea. But unfortunately, I have to work,” I sighed.

“Call off. When was the last time you missed a day?” his warm mouth on my skin made me seriously consider his proposal, and the tingling between my legs was making me want him again; but I knew I couldn’t do that—especially not today.

“I wish I could, but it’s a big night for me. Jensen Outlaws kind of did me a personal favor by booking the arena, with it being so new. I can’t miss this one.”

“Yeah, I get it,” he sighed. I turned to lay my head on his chest, my hand landing on the raised skin above his heart. I didn’t ask anymore what happened, I didn’t even bother. I had asked him twice before, and whenever it came up, his face turned dark and his eyes went hard. I knew that he didn’t have a great family life growing up and he didn’t like to talk about his past very much. Something major must have happened before he moved here, but I’m sure that happened often in his line of work. There was some kind of story there, but he wasn’t ready to share it yet, I guess. I can understand wanting to keep some things in the past.

He pressed a kiss to my forehead, rubbing at my back. “Did you still want me to come tonight?”

“Of course! I’ll have your tickets at will call. Are you still bringing Will with you?”

“Yup, that’s the plan. Have you talked to Lawson lately?”

“No, he’s been so busy, I really haven’t gotten the chance.”

“Well, I guess you will tonight,” he mumbled, before I felt his hand trail down to between my legs once again. “Now, I think we have time for one more round, don’t you?”

A moan escaped from my mouth as he slid down my body and his tongue started to explore, licking in one long swipe, ending at my clit. “I think I can manage to squeeze some time in,” I teased before all words ceased to exist and I was completely lost from reality once again.

  * * *

I’d been lucky enough to score a job with the Lewistown Arena straight out of college. At the time, they were in the late stages of finishing the arena, so I had been there from the very beginning as their event coordinator. It was my dream job. Of course, I would have loved to work somewhere that brought in bigger names, but we were slowly getting there. Most of our shows were sold out on a consistent basis, and to say I had to pull a few strings here and there was an understatement.

“Campbell, ready for tonight’s show?” One of the ushers, Rick, grinned at me as I blew a stray hair out of my face, smiling as I whizzed by him. I didn’t have time to stop and chat. “We’re getting there, slowly but surely. Save something for me to eat later?”

“You got it,” he called after me and I pushed my walkie-talkie to my mouth, spewing instructions to my assistant, and close friend, Molly as I walked through the darkened arena. Molly was my rock and one of my best friends, even though I would never tell Tess that. Her feelings would definitely have been hurt, but we really didn’t see that much of each other anymore.

The air was buzzing with excitement, the show being one of our biggest ones yet; and for me, it was double the excitement. Lawson would be here. It had been way too long since we had seen each other. Granted, his career had made our relationship a little different, but it worked most of the time.

Luckily, the band wasn’t difficult. In fact, Jensen Outlaws were the easiest artists that had come through the arena, even though they were the biggest. Those three would always be good old country boys— rednecks at heart.

My phone buzzed from where it was clipped to my hip, and my cheeks flushed when I saw it was Conner. Whatever we had going on was new, and hot, and I wanted so much more of him. It was odd really. I considered myself a pretty independent girl and relationships really weren’t my thing, but there was just something about him that I was drawn to. I could sense it the moment I laid eyes on him. “Hey, what’s up?”

“I’m here, Will bailed on me, so I figured I would bring you some dinner before you got too busy. Can you meet me?”

“You brought food? Where in the world did you come from?” He laughed and I held up a finger at Molly who
was pushing a clipboard in my direction. “Tell them you’re with me and to radio me if they have any questions. Meet me behind the stage.”

“Oh, well I didn’t think you wanted that right now, but I’m more than happy to oblige, especially with that skirt you’re wearing. I’ve been having fantasies about it ever since you left my place earlier.” We’d been bouncing back and forth from his house to my apartment, but still, spending almost every night together. Everything just seemed so easy with him, although things were moving quickly, but it really didn’t scare me.

“Is that right? Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but I don’t even have time for that. Right now, at least. I’ll see you in five.”

I ended the call, clipping my phone back onto my hip, rolling my eyes but grinning from ear to ear when I heard a few whistles from around the corner. “Campbell Wynn, it’s been a long ass time—too long,” Colton shouted at me before swooping me up in a bear hug, then passing me off to Riley.

“You mother fuckers better get outta my way,” Lawson grumbled from behind them, and they willingly obliged.

“Cammie, I missed the hell out of you.” I squealed when he grabbed me, my feet leaving the ground as he spun me around in a circle. I breathed in his familiar scent of laundry detergent mixed with spicy cologne and felt completely at home.

“And I missed you, too,” I replied as he set me back on my feet. I wobbled slightly on my heels, getting a good look at him since he attacked me. He was still the same old Lawson, with his dark hair cut short, dark eyes looking intense, and his lips curved into a boyish smirk. It felt good to have him back.

“I almost didn’t recognize you in that skirt. They don’t let you wear your Converse’s to work?” He quirked a brow.

“Nah, I’m a grown girl now. I have to dress the part.” Even though I had a pair stashed away in my office.
