Rhuna, Keeper of Wisdom Page 28

by Barbara Underwood

“The Arawana have commenced their journey to Chipka, however it shall be a long journey, and our party shall propose other settlements along their route, should they become weary,” said another member.

“They are in fear,” said Revealer of Brightness. “Most probably they shall endure the long journey to reach this settlement on the summit where they believe to find security,” he said nodding.

When the meeting of High Council members had concluded in a sombre manner, Rhuna left to attend her lessons while Tozar remained to discuss other matters in the High Council. She had now progressed to the more practical stage in her Solar Light Healing studies and Tamer of the Storm began instructing her in the complex methods of extraction and dispersion of the appropriate light colour from harnessed solar energy.

Rhuna had learned about the importance of solar light due to the colours it contains, and that solar light has unique features, similar to the various frequencies of electro-magnetic energies used in other methods of healing. Therefore, due to the nature of these solar light impulses, bathing a person in a certain colour of solar light restored emotional and mental balance. For mild imbalances, the softer, slower light frequency colours of red, yellow and orange were most suitable, and the intense frequency of violet should only be used for severe cases of emotional trauma. Knowledge of the solar light frequencies was important in order for the healer to extract and diffuse the required colour from the white solar light, and Rhuna looked forward to her first attempt.

“You appear downcast today, Keeper of Wisdom,” said the teacher when they began their walk outside the city to commence practical instruction. “Are you not content with your husband?”

“No! Nothing like that!” responded Rhuna with disconcertment.

“It is the most common cause of continual emotional imbalance,” replied Tamer of the Storm.

  “Continual?”

“Yes. Solar Light Healing serves to alleviate a particular emotional or mental burden, however, if the cause is not removed, the imbalance remains.”

“I didn’t know that,” said Rhuna. “But I’m not unhappy with my husband.”

“Oh? Your angry response earlier led me to believe otherwise,” said Tamer of the Storm. Rhuna suddenly saw a hint of arrogance in her tall and confident teacher with the clear voice. She stopped walking to look directly at her teacher, and then began to tell the tall woman about her experience with Beacon of the Night, and that this was the cause of her angry reaction. Rhuna watched the teacher’s mouth slacken and her bright eyes lose their gleam for a moment.

“Forgive me, Keeper of Wisdom! It is not my place to inquire of such matters. A healer must not become over-confident and begin to presume the cause of another’s emotional imbalance. May this shortcoming of mine serve as a valuable lesson to you,” she said bowing her head to Rhuna.

They continued walking, and Rhuna asked her teacher whether it was necessary to know the causes of emotional or mental imbalances before healing, and Tamer of the Storm explained that it was of assistance, though not necessary, and that there were other indications for the healer to ascertain the degree of emotional damage. Her teacher then explained some of these methods to Rhuna, such as general behaviour and responses, appearance of eyes, skin and hair, and of course, reactions to various colours.

“My husband is too fond of green,” Rhuna told Tamer of the Storm. “I concluded that he has anxiety, and he told me that it’s his worry over me.”

“Obviously he has very deep affection for you,” responded Tamer of the Storm quickly. “Yellow solar light shall relieve this anxiety. However, if the cause remains, the imbalance shall return, and for complete healing, a more thorough examination of the patient’s life experiences and emotional constitution is required.”

Rhuna felt comfortable with her teacher again, and told her that this aspect of healing interested her a great deal.

They reached their destination of an open area along the track leading to the hills behind the city of Atlán, and there Tamer of the Storm produced a small box from her bag. It contained a similar arrangement of glass disks to collect solar energy, but the metal container had several large holes to emit coloured light in various directions. Tamer of the Storm explained to Rhuna that this instrument was more difficult to use than the solar energy harnessing tool she had already used, and that the method of projecting concentrated thought was also more complicated. When Tamer of the Storm had explained a few more things, she told Rhuna to stand about ten paces away near a rocky outcrop, and that she would demonstrate Solar Light Healing by producing orange solar light to restore Rhuna’s emotional balance.

Rhuna did so, and watched her teacher close her eyes a while to concentrate on the gathered solar energy in the metal box. Before long, Rhuna saw a faint stream of orange light emerging from one of the box’s holes. At first it appeared not to even reach Rhuna, but the orange ray steadily strengthened until a strong orange light diffused all over Rhuna and the rocks behind her. She sensed nothing physical, yet was overcome by a general feeling of wellbeing.

“I feel much better!” called Rhuna excitedly when the orange glow had suddenly vanished. “It works quickly!”

“The time of eating a small fruit is sufficient for all cases, however in extreme imbalances, the procedure should be repeated several times during one lunar cycle,” explained Tamer of the Storm in her usual correct manner. “Attempt to extract red solar light - it is the easiest,” she instructed Rhuna.

Rhuna felt nervous, but managed to collect her thoughts to concentrate on the solar energy in the metal box. She visualised the slow red light waves releasing from the combined white light, and projected the red light through one of the holes. It was a procedure quite different from transforming elements such as stone or metal, and Rhuna wondered whether she would master this difficult technique. When she opened her eyes, Tamer of the Storm stood nearby and watched the red stream of light emitting from the metal box and glowing against the rocks where Rhuna had stood earlier.

“Well done,” said Tamer of the Storm. “You demonstrate considerable aptitude for this process…and for the entire scope of healing, so it appears,” she said with a smile.

Rhuna hurried home with light and happy steps, and enthusiastically told Tozar of her afternoon’s lesson and that she would soon obtain her own solar energy harnessing instrument for Solar Light Healing. Tozar said that her joyful mood gave him happiness, and then Rhuna told him that she would soon be able to remove his anxiety with yellow solar light. He embraced her warmly, then began to tell her of the more mundane discussions in the High Council that afternoon. Rhuna asked if there was any further talk about the morning’s subject, and Tozar said no, but he had observed that all the High Council members had a drawn face during the entire day.

“They need orange solar light,” said Rhuna, and Tozar said it could be arranged when she became a qualified healer.

When they settled down to practice Inside Focussing a little later that evening, Rhuna thought about the High Council members’ concerns, and decided she should attempt to summon another vision of the Dark Master’s activities to help the High Council of Atlán. Her summoning by mere inner focussing quickly revealed a vision. Rhuna saw the Dark Master marching angrily along a narrow dirt track, his eyes to the ground in deep thought and two bags of belongings hung around his shoulders. The vision ended abruptly.

She opened her eyes and saw Tozar sitting nearby, also practising Inside Focussing. She waited for him to finish, and then calmly described the vision she had summoned by mere Inside Focussing techniques.

“I think he was going to another area and he was angry that people who were under his control had begun to leave and go into Atlan territory,” said Rhuna.

  Tozar listened and nodded sombrely.

“You invoked this vision deliberately and without effort?”

“Yes. It gets easier every time,” answered Rhuna. His silent brooding look distressed Rhuna.

sp; “I’ve displeased you,” she said.

Tozar looked up and shook his head. “No, My Precious,” he said as he reached out to embrace her, “you would never displease me.”

In the following lunar cycles, Rhuna continued to make fast progress in all the practical aspects of healing with food, herbs, electro-magnetic energies and solar light, so that Flower of the Field even lamented that her instruction of Rhuna would soon come to an end. Tamer of the Storm remained cool and professional, but Rhuna noticed a touch of humility and respect in the tall woman since she told her about Beacon of the Night.

Rhuna began to practice extracting coloured solar light on her own, in the open area leading away from the city. She was able to project most colours without much effort, but found the indigo and violet colours the most difficult, as Tamer of the Storm had said. One on occasion, she sat under a shading tree to practice Inside Focussing a while, and then tried to extract and project the violet solar light again, this time with better results. She decided that frequent re-energising of her concentration strength was required, and remembered the pyramid Beacon of the Night had shown her, as well as the site for harnessing lunar magnetic flows.

Rhuna’s lessons with Flower of the Field became less, while her involvement with several healers and their patients increased. She attended various events at the Circle of Healing, and assisted in diagnosing and prescribing food diets and herbal tinctures. She also visited the apothecary rooms on several occasions to learn the methods of preparing tinctures and growing herbs.

When she had free time during the day, she began enjoying walks out of the city of Atlán to the small pyramid Beacon of the Night had shown her, and where she was able to harness various forms of energy which then enabled her to extract and project all the colours of solar light with ease. A few times, she noticed that the colour she wanted to project glowed against the rocks without the use of the metal box for harnessing energy. Rhuna wondered about this, and concluded that when she had strengthened her power of concentration by use of the pyramid, she was able to bypass the solar harnessing instrument and simply extract the desired colour from the white solar light in the air.

Several times each lunar cycle, Rhuna attempted to summon further visions of the Dark Master by means of Inside Focussing, and each time she received a similar vision of the tall thin man walking with a fast and determined stride. He carried his bags and always looked angry, at times even gritting his teeth and muttering to himself. Once, when Rhuna summoned such a vision at night, she saw the Dark Master sitting by a fire, roasting a small animal. She told Tozar about each vision, and on various occasions she also told the High Council members, who agreed each time that the Dark One was on a long walking journey, and that Rhuna’s continual observation of him was both helpful and reassuring to the High Council.

Seer of Worlds had also been regularly informed of Rhuna’s visions, and he continually summoned visions by means of the Gazing of the Waters to ascertain the safety of the various Atlan parties and refugees entering further into Atlan territory. He encountered no impediments, and therefore concluded that the Dark Master was not pursuing them, nor was he in the vicinity of these fleeing people. The High Council members resolved that in all likelihood, the Dark One was journeying to yet another group of submissive people in his domain outside Atlan Empire borders.

After Rhuna had projected coloured solar light onto several patients under the supervision of Tamer of the Storm, the teacher told her she had become proficient enough to be a qualified healer in this field. Excitedly, she persuaded Tozar to be her first patient, and using the solar harnessing instrument, she easily projected a warm yellow light onto him at the usual site outside the city.

“Did you feel something?” she asked him afterwards.

“A feeling of wellbeing came over me,” he replied and looked happy. “It shall suffice until the next time,” he added.

“There’s no need for you to always be so anxious,” Rhuna told him.

“Perhaps. The High Council has received reports from the new settlement of Chipka,” said Tozar as they began the walk back to Atlán. “The Arawana have arrived at the location and are very thrilled, particularly by the extremely high altitude. Several building foundations have been constructed, however much more work is required, particularly to assist the large group of people.”

Rhuna said she was pleased to hear the Arawana liked their new home, and asked whether more Atlan parties had already been sent there.

“The High Council, together with Low Council members, is deciding which individuals would serve this new community best.” He took Rhuna’s hand as they walked. “At least one healer is required, and it would not be inappropriate for a member of the High Council to be present to oversee proceedings,” he said looking at her with a sparkle in his eye.

“You mean us?” asked Rhuna surprised.

“You are a qualified healer, are you not? I have observed your compassion for this people and your deep desire to assist and heal. Do you not wish to go?”

Rhuna said that she wanted to go more than anything else, but hadn’t realised it until then. She threw her arms around him with delight, and remembered the lyrics of the vuda song she had composed for him. She thought to herself that those words were truer than she had ever realised.

  Part Seven

  (Chipka)

Rhuna was excited about all the plans and preparations that were made for the journey to Chipka, and she watched the many supplies being gathered and bundled to pack onto donkeys. Carts were not suitable for the steep and rugged walking tracks to Chipka, so care was taken to pack and load the necessary basic supplies onto each animal. Rhuna observed that many rugs, blankets and other textiles were carefully sorted and used to wrap other items such as the herbal tinctures she had gathered with the assistance of Flower of the Field. Her teacher was also excited about Rhuna’s plans, and continually instructed her in various aspects of diagnosis and treatment of a different people accustomed to other food and customs.

Flower of the Field had allowed Rhuna to choose the herbal tinctures to take, and then made some suggestions on additional herbs that she expected the tired and ailing Arawana needed. The bulk of herbal tinctures comprised general blood purifying tonics, then tinctures for liver and kidneys, as well as several healing aromas for general distress and weariness. The bald and serious apothecary told Rhuna that the party should also take fresh herbs or cuttings of these basic and common herbs to establish an herb garden in Chipka. He also explained to her the correct Plant and Earth Harmony alignments for such an herb garden, and then wished her a successful and rewarding time in Chipka.

Rhuna was also asked to oversee the food supplies because of her knowledge of healing by food diet, and she told the various men and women in charge of the packing that she was satisfied with everything. She was especially pleased to see large amounts of grains for making breads, and as many fresh fruit and vegetables that did not spoil quickly. Seeds for many more fruit and vegetable plants were also packed, and there were separate sacks of various nuts, dried fruits and preserved foods.

Tamer of the Storm told Rhuna that she was confident in her ability to heal many of the Arawana by Solar Light Healing, and told Rhuna that she looked forward to learning of her progress in Chipka. While Rhuna was still at the school talking to Tamer of the Storm, a messenger arrived and told them that Seer of Worlds requested a meeting with Rhuna before her departure for Chipka. After receiving the well wishes of her Solar Light Healing teacher, Rhuna went to the rooms of Seer of Worlds, expecting further good wishes from her former teacher.

“It is with much delight that I wish you success in your new endeavour,” said Seer of Worlds as he stooped before her and looked at Rhuna from under his heavy brows. “However, there is another matter I wish to discuss with you, Keeper of Wisdom.”

Rhuna noticed his stiff posture and dark eyes, and expected a gloomy report from the solemn teacher.

  “In my continual
efforts to summon information by means of the Gazing of the Waters,” he began as he paced slowly in front of Rhuna, “a most noteworthy development came to my attention.” He stopped pacing and looked directly at her. “The impediment has been partially removed.”

Rhuna looked at the graying man and then shook her head. “Partially? But he’s not dead, so what does this mean?”

Seer of Worlds turned his gaze away from Rhuna and began pacing again. “The visions no longer impeded by him… are those concerning your father,” he said firmly. “Should the impediment be random, I would assume the Dark One’s power over the Gazing of the Waters is subsiding, however…” he broke off and turned sharply towards Rhuna again.

“You mean he did it deliberately? What are the visions you summoned about my father?” asked Rhuna beginning to tremble slightly.

“It appears you may summon any information about your father,” said Seer of Worlds as he looked to the floor, “including his death.” He lifted his head sharply. “I strongly recommend you do not summon this vision!” he said forcefully. “It is my opinion… my theory… that he removed the impediment to show you this vision, assuming you would attempt to summon more visions of your father. You have attempted to do so, have you not?” he asked sternly.

Rhuna reluctantly admitted that on several occasions she had carefully summoned more visions about her father’s short stay on Chinza where he met her mother.

“As I expected! He wishes you to see the death of your father and be disturbed, if not even threatened! And it is indeed deeply distressing, hence I urge you once again, Keeper of Wisdom, do not summon this!” Seer of Worlds had a tremor in his angry voice which frightened Rhuna.

“I don’t want to see how my father died… just to know how it happened, if you would tell me, Esteemed Teacher?”

Seer of Worlds relaxed his tense pose for a moment and said that he had intended to tell her of the vision, then motioned her to sit down. He sat down and brooded over the matter a while.
