It was funny how life turned out. We were all happy and on paths that I didn’t see coming. It wasn’t how I planned my life after going through the divorce, but it was perfect now. I was enjoying my life and taking it day by day. Who would have thought I’d make up with Brian again? It was the happiest I’d been with myself for the first time in years. It could only get better from here on out. I had finally found a dream job doing photography for a company. They trained me and sent me to school for a few classes. It had been a great job so far and I only had more to look forward to. We were back on our feet and financially stable starting new beginnings with Alex, making the house a little less quiet as Kate would be off to school soon. Funny how things worked out.
“Say, I want a cupcake!” We all laughed and the camera took our family picture. The smile that spread across Kate’s face told me how beautiful and happy she was. She loved her family and that was all I wanted. It was all I needed to know that she was okay. She’d be okay. Brian leaned into me for another picture, and pressed his lips to mine sealing a kiss that meant so much both of us. Feeling his soft lips on mine and enduring the moment, the camera snapped. We were shamelessly worth it.
