  Jane gasped. “Tim, you can't do that. These are worth a fortune. We can't accept them.”

  “Jane, I have never liked them,” Tim said. “Now they only remind Ailsa and me of our father's faults and downfall.” He gazed at the pictures without focusing on them. “They are of no value to us, but you truly love them. Please, accept them and enjoy them with best wishes from Ailsa and from me.”

  “Thank you very much, Tim. We will treasure them always.”

  “Speak for yourself!” Rachael joked. If she were honest, the pictures were not to her taste, but she knew Jane was thrilled to have the unique pieces of art. Rachael would try to learn to love them too.

  The DI walked in. Tim nodded at him and held up three fingers. Hunter held up both hands. Arjun Mansoor had been convicted of dealing cocaine and sentenced to ten years in jail.

  Edna's cases had still to be decided, but her time on remand with the usual young criminals would not make her life easy.

  Hunter did not care about Edna. He was too busy arranging appropriate rehab facilities for Cameron.

  Hunter called the morning briefing to order.
