She laughed, “Honey, we are way too old for that superstition! I hope!”
Kevin shook his head, “The only bad luck we have is her tryin’ to drive the tractor…not doin’ that again.”
We busied ourselves with putting the rest of the decorations up. Just as we put the last few chairs in a row, “We’re here and we’re not late!” Katherine said with a laugh.
Richard and Katherine were both smiling, Katherine placed a gift on the table for the bride and groom. “Look at you kiddos!” She hugged Drake, Vance, Vidalia and me. “You’re all grown up! We have somebody we want you to meet.” She gave us a nervous smile.
A man and woman holding a little girl moved in beside Richard. The little girl had dark brown hair, green eyes and long thick black eyelashes. When she smiled at us, it took my breath away. She was a spitting image of Morgan, her olive colored skin looked just like Naomi’s. “This little one is Jayma Lee, and these are here parents, Kelly and Jerrod.” Richard beamed with a smile when he looked at Jayma.
Vance must have sensed that I was about to burst into tears, he wrapped his arm around my waist and squeezed. “Vance, good to meet you.” He shook the parents hands then looked at Jayma. “You’re gonna be a heart breaker when you get older, aren’t ya?” He said with a smile.
She nodded her head and smiled before tucking it against Kelly’s neck trying to be shy.
We all laughed, Kelly extended her hand to me, “You must be Tabitha?”
I gave a wobbly smile, “I am.” I said and shook her head.
“I’m so sorry for all that you’ve been through, it’s way more than any girl should have to go through. When we were contacted by our attorney I cried for days. We had always wondered where the biological father was and why he wasn’t in the picture. Our attorney explained everything to us and we knew that it was only right for Jayma to know her grandparents. Her mother’s family made her sign over her rights and have never contacted us.”
I wiped a tear away, “She looks just like her daddy…I mean Morgan.”
Kelly smiled, “We’ve been showing her pictures and videos of him. She still gets confused but when she’s older she’ll understand. She’s our angel, we tried for years to have children but my body simply rejected every pregnancy. Our life is complete now.”
Jayma wiggled down Kelly’s side and pointed toward the barn, “Horsies, mommy!”
Vidalia knelt down, “How about after the wedding, we go show you the horses and maybe let you ride one?’
Jayma’s eyes got big and she nodded her head with enthusiasm.

“This is going to be us someday.” Vance said as we danced to a slow song.
“Do you think?” I replied.
“I don’t think…I know. When we’re done with college, it’s happenin’. Then we’re gonna start a family.”
I moved in closer to him and we both sighed, I laid my head against his chest and let the music wash over me. Ellie Goulding sang ‘Love Me Like You Do’, Vance’s squeezed me and started singing along. He was my strength and my weakness, he was my right and my wrong, but together we made each other’s world perfect. “I love you.” I whispered when I looked up at him.
He grinned, “I love you too, Tabitha.”
Chapter 26
Six Years Later
“I hate you…how could you do this to me?!!!” Tabitha said. Her face was red and she was breathing hard, tears streamed down her face.
“You don’t mean that, you love me…you just said so about five minutes ago.” I replied.
“No…right this very second I hate you!” She balled her fists up and started breathing harder and her tears fell faster. “It hurts…so much!”
I grabbed her hand, “They’re coming in with an epidural; you can do this.”
“You don’t understand the pain! We are never ever having sex again!”
“Now you’re just being dramatic.” I said with a grin.
Tabitha narrowed her eyes at me, “Twins, feel like they are trying to fight their way out of my vajaja at the same damn time! They need to take turns!”
I started laughing, she reached up and fisted my hair in her hands and pulled as hard as she could. I winced, “Now’s not the time to get kinky, sweetheart.”
She gasped and let go of my hair, THANK GOD! “It hurts Vance…tell them to hurry!”
A minute later they were in the room putting a long fuckin’ needle in my wife’s back. Not even ten minutes later she was calmed down and gently petting my hand. Two hours later and she was pushing out babies, identical twin boys, Jayden and Kayden.
Tabitha cried and so did I when they placed one in each of our arms, “They’re perfect.” She whispered.
I wiped tears from my face, “Which one am I holdin’?” I asked.
She laughed, “Let me see him.”
I lifted him so she could see his face, “That one should be Kayden.”
“How can you tell?”
“I’m…not really sure!” She replied.
They boys were both healthy and only a week early. “We did pretty good.” I said to her and kissed her softly on the lips
A knock on the door broke our time together; I knew it was our families wanting to come in. Vidalia burst through the doors, her round pregnant belly sticking way out. “Let me see!” she rushed over to the bed.
“I’m sorry I was mean to you.” Tabitha said.
I leaned in and kissed her, “You told me you hate me…”
“I love you…so much.” She said against my lips.
I looked around the room and smiled, Dad and Claire were smiling and cooing at Kayden while Drake whispered softly in Vidalia’s ear as she held Jayden.
This was the life I was meant to have and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
