  “José, I’m so sorry I ditched you today. It’s a long story and I…” she began.

  “Don’t worry, Miss Rossalyn, that’s what family is for, right?” he grinned, and she hugged him, tears in her eyes, then went to hug his mother.

  “Gracias, Señora,” she smiled through her tears, hugging the dear tiny woman.

  “Oh, and nasty Jason called. He was sick this morning and didn’t wake up until ten o’clock. He’ll try to be in tomorrow,” José informed her.

  “José, you have to quit calling him that. He’s part of our staff, you need to cut him some slack.”

  “Now that he’s not a murderer?” the cook chuckled.

  “Exactly. No murderers work here… it’s a good day.”
