by Jo Cotterill
I look up at the sky, still light, though one star has appeared. “I did,” I say. “I did win.”
Mom takes my hand, and Lennon takes the other, and we walk home.
Acknowledgments
With grateful thanks to the wonderful team at Piccadilly for making my book beautiful on the inside and the outside and helping it to find readers: Fliss Johnston, Talya Baker, Ruth Logan, Ilaria Tarasconi, Tina Mories, Anneka Sandher, Sara Mulvanny, and Dan Newman.
Thanks also to early readers Claire Hosier, Mandie Preston, and Ben Trevail for invaluable feedback, and to Cathy Cassidy for providing such lovely words for me.
Finally, thanks as ever to my family and friends who carry me when I can’t stand alone. And to my two amazing daughters—thanks for the cuddles and the terrible jokes. You’re both awesome in so many ways.
