“But then we won’t know when they’re coming.”
“But won’t we?” She grins as she looks back up at me.
“How?”
“I used to work for a club that his men frequented. I know people. I know people who now work for him.” She laughs.
“What?”
“The bouncer from the club just moved to Mexico. Which tells me…”
“Arlo hired him.”
“Bingo.”
“Not going to happen.” I laugh out as I get out of the bed and move across the room, into the bathroom. Stepping into the shower.
“You don’t know what I was going to say.” She shouts into the bathroom.
“Doesn’t matter.” I finally nod to her as I step out, wrapping the towel around my waist.
“What?” she shouts, looking up at me furiously.
“You have this plan where you trust him and that will not happen.”
“Why not? You don’t know him.”
“Because I’m not risking your life on the trust of someone else.”
A smile spreads across her face as I look over at her curiously. “You love me.” She smirks. I can’t help but roll my eyes as I lean over and kiss her before walking out of the bathroom, quickly dressing and then downstairs to my office.
“Luce?” Her voice floats into the room as she pushes the door open and walks across the room to where I sit. I feel my cynical demeanor softening every time I look over at her. When she looks up at me with the same defiant eyes she had as she looked up to me the first night.
Never wavering.
Never afraid.
She’d fucking burn this entire world down without a second thought. All she needs is a good enough reason. In fact, I feel like her whole life she’s just been waiting for a good enough reason to do so.
Someone who sees through to me, and instead of meeting me with fear, she reflects the monster that’s inside me, but her monster may even be worse.
She strides up to my desk as she leans against it. Still not saying anything, I look up at her. “We didn’t finish talking earlier.”
“We did. I told you. You’re not reaching out to someone you’re not sure will be on our side.”
“Okay,” she nods her head, actually giving in. It surprises me, but I just assume that she has something else. She pushes herself backwards, up onto my desk, sliding in front of me. Scooting my chair closer to her, parting her legs as I move between them. She may be wearing shorts, but that doesn’t stop me from running my hand up her inner thigh and letting my thumb brush against her clit. She parts her legs further, as her way of fucking begging me to. “So,” she gasps out. “What are we going to do?” Standing up, pushing her backwards against the desk, I can’t help but laugh.
“We’ll talk about that later.” Leaning over top of her. She smirks as she looks up at me.
“No, we will talk about it now.” She giggles as my mouth connects with her neck, running my tongue over her scars before my teeth graze them. A slight moan comes out, fueling my jaw to tighten. “I’m serious.” She whispers.
“Then talk, Little Girl.” I growl into her ear as I continue to lick and bite down the side of her neck. My hands rest on the top of her shorts as I pop the button on them, slipping them down her thighs. Feeling her hands hastily pulling on my pants before she lines my cock up at her entrance and I push myself inside of her, letting out a heavy breath as I lean back over, looking down at her. Thrusting up into her, pushing her up further onto my desk. Pushing the keyboard and papers, which were sitting on it off onto the floor in front of it. Enjoying feeling her simply wrapped around me.
“I think we should let them take me.” She tells me as I thrust up into her.
“Not happening.” I tell her again as I push inside of her again, more aggressively this time. Her head knocks off more papers and the penholder.
“Luce,” she looks up at me as I can feel the rage building up. “Just hear me out.”
“It’s. not. fucking. happening.” I grit out, punctuating every word with my cock. Gripping onto my shirt, she pulls me down, looking at me.
“Hear me out.” She pleads with me.
“No,” I pause for a second, pulling her hand off my shirt and gripping onto her face, holding her gaze on mine, making sure that she doesn’t look away. That she hears me. “It’s not up for debate.” She nods her head, agreeing with me before I let go of her and pushing back up into her. Her eyes roll into the back of her head for a second until she looks back up to me. Her eyes show slight submission as I continue to pump into her.
“Why?” she whispers up to me.
“Because...”
Feeling my release starting as my thrusts become feverishly. “One way or another, I’m going.” She whispers into my ear as I pull her into me and spill into her. Not really able to process what it was that she was telling me.
Continuing to pump into her, I can feel her release building. As I look down at her, forcing her to come to her release, she whispers. “Either you can plan it with me,” she moans, “come and rescue me, or don’t…” she moans out as I feel her exploding around me, which almost makes me hard all over again.
“What?” I ask her, steading myself inside of her, looking down. Finally, putting together what she’s saying.
“No.” I demand her.
“This isn’t a debate.” She demands. “We both know that whether you like it, I will go through with this. So you can plan with me or don’t. You don’t want to go to him. You don’t want to lure him in. He’s intelligent. The only way that we’re going to come out of this alive is if we make the first move.” Pushing me backwards and out of her. “I’m tougher than I look.” She tells me as I smirk down at her.
And deep down, I know her plan may be the only thing that gets us out of this.

Nyx
He stands in front of me, cock still out, staring at me.
I can tell that he’s contemplating my plan. Reaching down, picking up his pants, he pulls them back up as he sighs, sitting down in the chair in front of me. “You’re right.” He sighs as he runs his hand through his hair and I am kind of surprised that I’ve never seen this tell before.
He’s nervous. He’s unsure.
And Luce is rarely unsure.
“If we do this. It has to be completely planned out.” He nods at me as he presses a couple of buttons on his phone. “Get dressed.” He tells me as I slide my shorts backup.
“How difficult was that?” I ask him, a slight smirk on my face.
“What?”
“Admitting that I was right.” He cuts his eyes at me but as I see him turn his face I also see the slight smirk that’s on it. The door at our side starts to open.
Some of Luce’s men come into the room and look at me before looking at the mess in front of the desk and they smirk. I’m sure, though, that they didn’t need to do all of that to know what was just happening in here.
Not that I really give a shit, anyway.
“Boss.” I hear Blaine call to him as I turn to look at the men.
“Nyx has a plan.” He tells them, and I watch as all the men’s faces raise with surprise. “We need to make sure that it is airtight before we execute it.”
“Just tell us what you need.” They nod to us.
“I’m going to let myself get taken.”
“What?” they shout as they look over to Luce as he just shakes his head. He’s telling them he’s not okay with it, but he will not argue with me.
“It’s them or us.” I say to them. “He will not stop. We let them think they’ve surprised us. And then we have a way to figure out where they are.”
“They’ll expect us to come.”
“But not right away. They’ll expect you to have to figure out where I am.”
“How will we know exactly?” Blaine asks.
“I don’t know, that’s for you all to figure out.”
“I have a few ideas.” Luce tells us. I think I catch a small look between him and Blaine but it’s gone before I can really determine.
“Which are.” He smirks up at me before he stands up, leaning in and kissing my forehead. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve got you.”
Chapter 16
Nyx
Since I woke up in Luce’s bed 2 weeks ago, I’ve spent every night in it. My things magically found their way into the closet the other day.
Luce has been getting home later every day. I assume he’s trying to tie up business here before we inevitably end up in Mexico.
I don’t care what he does for business, and I honestly don’t want to know. There’s a big difference between morally grey and black. Luce has his own morals, but covered up by all that hardened crime boss there’s still some that linger. That’s why he said his father deserved to die. Big difference between no morals and whatever the fuck Luce actually is.
The bedroom door opens as the light shines in and I hear him walk across the room to the bathroom. When the bed shifts next to me, I feel him move close to me. “I know you’re awake.”
“How?”
“The predator can always sense the prey.” I can’t help but smile as I roll over and look at him. I can see the smile pull on his lips as he leans over and kisses me. Pulling back, he whispers. “I got you something.” He holds up a small box as I look at him questioning. Rolling over, he turns on the light on the side table.
I can tell the box is some sort of jewelry. “Luce.” I look at him.
“Just open it.” He smirks, and I can see a slight change in his demeanor. He looks almost happy. Opening it, I see a dainty silver chain with a circle diamond pendant on it.
“It’s beautiful.” I whisper out as he smirks, leaning over and kissing my shoulder.
“There’s a tracker in it.” He whispers as he runs his fingers over it. “Press right here.” He moves his finger over the stone. “Turn the tracker on.”
“Why would I need to turn it on?” I ask him as I look over and he smirks.
“They will most likely check you for signals. They will probably let you keep it as long as it’s not putting off anything. Only turn it on after they check you.” Nodding my head. “We won’t be far. I just need to make sure exactly where you are before we come in, because they will be on us instantly. We won’t have time to search for you. And I know Arlo will not keep you anywhere I know about.”
“Wait, you’ve been there?”
“Yes.” is the only answer he gives.
“What? When?”
“I lived there for a year as a child.”
“What?” I shout, nearly coming off of the bed. “Why did you live there?”
He sighs as he shakes his head. “Arlo and my father were enemies. Arlo took my mother and me to get to my father, not knowing that it didn’t bother him.” He shrugs as I sit, stunned.
“What? How did you guys get out?”
“We left. Arlo let us go.” I continue to stare at him, shocked, before he sighs. “He fell in love with my mother. I assume my father caught wind of that and came. It was a pride issue. So we ran.”
“Why?”
“So he couldn’t find us.”
“Where is she, your mother, that is?”
He shrugs. “Somewhere west of the Mississippi River in a mass grave my father used at one point. I tried to get him to tell me before I put a bullet in his head, but he refused. He made sure that secret died with him.” He says it so nonchalantly that I just slowly turn to look at him.
“Wait, rewind.” I pause as I look at him. “What?”
“Which part?” He shrugs again as I just continue to stare at him until I finally shake my head. “No, but my father felt the need to tell me that my mother was pregnant when he shot her.” He chuckles before he looks over at me again. “Apparently, Arlo really loved my mother.”
“But wait, you have a sister?”
“I do, but do you really want to talk about my fucked up family tonight?” I can’t help but smirk as I look away and then back up at him.
“Kind of.” Then I sigh. “I want to know you.” I whisper to him. “And part of that is your fucked up family.” Then I laugh out loud. “Plus, I’m pretty sure we all have fucked up families.”
He nods his head before he becomes quiet for a long time. He sits as he looks at me, pulling me back to the bed, laying down. “Luce, what do I do if they take it?”
“Push it before they do.” Nodding my head as I lay it on his chest.
“You two shared a father. She’s mad because you killed him.”
“Yeah, but she never really knew him. If she knew him, she’d want him dead as well.”
❖
The morning light shines through the window as I lay looking over at him.
He seems so at peace currently.
We spent most of last night staring at one another. Sometime around 3 am, we fucked. Then I fell asleep afterwards.
Now, it’s 8 am and I can’t sleep. Pushing myself out of the bed, I walk to the bathroom as I finger the necklace.
Stepping out of the shower I can feel him looking at me, it’s almost a flashback to the first time I was in this house. Him waiting for me on the bed as I showered. Only this time he’s leaning against the doorframe when I get out, completely naked.
“Good morning.” He smiles down at me as he steps to me and kisses me. “Are you ready for today?” He asks me as I smile, nodding my head.
“As I’ll ever be.” He nods his head as he rubs down my arms and I smile.
“I’ll be with the tail at all times.”
“Won’t he be watching you to make sure you’re away?”
“Probably, but I have a body double.” I can’t help but laugh out as I look at him again. “What?”
“You have a body double?”
“Yes.” I can’t contain my laughter as he just shakes his head. “Why is that so funny?”
“Think you’re so important you’re going to need a body double?”
“It comes in handy.” He tells me, trying to keep the smirk off of his own face.
“Hm,” I look back to the mirror and smirk as I move and he stops me.
“What?”
“I was just wondering. Do you think I would want to fuck him as well?” I can feel his eyes cut to me before I’m pressed against the sink and look up to where he’s whispering into my ear.
“You better not, Little Girl.” He nips on my earlobe, and I try not to make a noise. “Because the only person you’re going to be fucking from here on out, is me.” I look up to him but see the seriousness in his words written all over his face as he looks back to me through the glass. I’ll address his exact choice of words later. Reaching around my body, he unties my towel until I am completely naked in front of him before he thrusts up into me.
“I dunno.” I tell him, staring back at him in the mirror. “I may find him more—“ my sentence is cut off as his hand comes up covering my mouth and he thrusts up into me again.
“You better stop talking, Little Girl or you’re going to learn how I treat bad little sluts.” Mumbling into his hand, he laughs before he removes it. “What was that again?”
“You don’t scare me.” I tell him before I’m left empty, and he pushes me down to the ground forcefully by my shoulders. “What the—” I’m cut off a second time, only this time it’s his cock which blocks my words from leaving my mouth. The moan vibrates around him as I taste myself on him.
“You taste that?” He grunts out as he thrusts into my mouth. “Your needy little cunt made a mess. You better clean it up.” He tells me, glaring down at me as I moan once more, then his cock moves down the back of my throat. My hand lowers. “You better not fucking touch yourself.” He demands of me as I look up, causing him to laugh again. “That’s my pussy. I say what it gets to do.” He laughs as he presses his cock roughly into my mouth
and trapping my head against the sink behind me. My eyes are still locked on his as he continues to talk. “I want to see just how needy of a dumb little slut you are just from having my cock jammed down your throat.” An additional moan comes out as he moans out as well. “Goddammit.” He looks down at me again, slowly easing his cock in and out of my mouth. “Have you cleaned up your mess yet?” I nod my head before he smirks, removing himself from my mouth and helping me stand up in front of him. I expect him to spin me around and slam back into me again, but instead he lifts me up, sitting me on the sink before he kneels down in front of me, spreading my legs. “That’s a shame, Little Girl. You aren’t nearly as wet as I wish you were. I guess I’m just going to fix that.” He tells me before his fingers slide slowly against my folds and I can’t contain my moan as it leaves my mouth. His tongue catches me off guard as my head tilts back and leans against the mirror.
“Holy fuck, Luce.” I mumble as my hands slide down, wrapping their way into his hair. His mouth latches onto my clit as his fingers press inside of me, hooking around and placing pressure against my wall.
My hips nearly buck off of the sink until I feel myself starting to collapse around him. But before I do, his fingers leave my body and his cock finds its way back nuzzled inside of me.
Then he feverishly pumps into me until we both come crumbling apart.
❖
Downstairs, Luce smiles at me as he hands me keys to the car.
“Don’t hurt yourself or anyone else.” He laughs as I grip the keys out of his hands and walk towards the door, out of it and down to the Audi as it sits in the driveway for me. “Nyx.” He calls out to me as I spin around and he’s standing directly in front of me.
“You were right the other day.” He tells me as I look up at him, confused.
“I know…. But just so we agree, about what?”
“I do love you.” He tells me as his eyes widen, almost as if he’s surprised that he’s admitting to it, himself.
