Wild Knight
She was untouchable. Until I got my hands on her... and got her pregnant.
I knew Priya long before I was hired to be her bodyguard. And by the time my job comes to an end, it’s too late – I’ve gotten too close to her.
A little distance keeps things at bay, but not for long. My new lucrative car restoration business attracts the attention of the Reaper’s Bastards MC and I find myself in the mood to act like a wild outlaw. But there’s a catch – I’ll help them if they help me find Priya.
When I get my hands on her again, we’re a family now. She gives birth to my son and life moves forward. Until the unthinkable happens. A shocking murder shakes our world to its core. Priya’s past is coming back not just to haunt, but to kill.
And the only way to survive is for me to become one of the bad guys…

*MONTHS AGO*
I was alone, in a bathroom at a gas station, a pregnancy test on a dirty sink. I hovered my ass over the toilet, totally convinced that if my ass touched the seat I was going to get some kind of disease.
I stood up, fixed my pants, and waited for the test to tell me something.
It didn’t matter what I wanted or what I thought, the truth would reveal itself. And I already knew the truth. I swore from the second it happened, my life felt like it was changing. Maybe it was maternal instincts or maybe it was just plain old guilt.
Shutting my eyes, I tried to play it all out in my mind. What I would do next. Where I would go next. I hadn’t seen him since that night. That was my fault though, pushing him away for good. Yeah, the guilt thing again.
“Okay, get it together,” I whispered to myself.
Being too many steps ahead would only get me into more trouble.
One thing at a time, as if there was a checklist in my brain.
First step was to sneak away. Check.
Second step was to get a pregnancy test. Check.
Third step was to pee on it. Weird, but check.
Fourth was to wait…
I glanced down at the pregnancy test and another check was checked off.
“I’m pregnant,” I whispered.
And that’s how I found out. In the bathroom of a gas station, on the other side of town, so I could be hidden. Not quite the way I would have thought it would happen if and when the time came.
But that wasn’t the craziest part of it all.
The craziest part?
The man I was supposedly in love with… he wasn’t the father.

*NOW*
I wiped my brow and finished up what would be yet another beautiful restoration on an old car. I snagged the beat up garage after helping the old man that owned the shop for fifty years. He fell behind on taxes and a few loans so the bank came in and tried to take it from him. I cashed everything in I had in my life and decided to become a mechanic and hide the fuck from the world. To say my heart had been broken would make me sound like a pussy.
The old man - Al - had a few old cars out back rotting away. When the shop closed or there was no work, I started to play with them. I had to keep my hands and mind busy. My previous gig was basically a bodyguard type thing and that blew up in my fucking face.
And there was something else lingering there…
“Whaddaya get for that?” a froggy voice asked from behind me.
Al stood there, leaning on a cane, a cigarette in his mouth. It wasn’t lit though. He quit smoking ten years ago but liked to keep a cigarette in his mouth at all times. He told me his two favorite things in life were pussy and cigarettes. And that the pussy was too old… so he kept the cigarettes, just unlit.
“This bad boy is in a bidding war,” I said. “Last time I checked we should get forty grand for it.”
“Fucking Christ,” Al said. “I paid less than that for this place and my first house.”
I laughed. “Time, huh?”
“Yeah.”
“Hey, if you have a house, why do you live here?”
“First wife took the house,” Al said.
“Good thing you didn’t get married again.”
“Oh, I did. But she wasn’t getting this garage from me.” He winked and broke out into a cackling laugh that ended in a coughing fit leaving his face bright red. “Fucking women.”
“Yeah, right,” I said. “Fucking women.”
I threw a dirty rag behind me and shut the hood of the car. Amazing the stories these cars told. From being bought brand new to ending up rusted and junked. Then I fixed them up and sold them for a ton of money.
I let Al live in the garage rent free. I paid everything for the old man, including groceries. Figured the guy should live out the last years of his life easily. For him, he felt like a king being in an apartment with a working TV, heat, and air conditioning.
“I’m going to make a bologna sandwich,” Al said. “Drink a little whiskey and take a nap.”
“You go do that, old man,” I said. “I’m going to take this beauty out for a little ride. See how she feels.”
“Go get a real woman,” Al said.
He slowly turned and disappeared.
I stood in silence for a few seconds. Then I said to nobody, “I had a real woman. And I fucking lost her.”
I opened her up on a straightaway and felt the power of the old muscle car. I didn’t give a fuck what kind of computers they put in cars today, the old shit was the best. I tested my luck around a sharp bend. The tail of the car cut to the left, the tires squealing with excitement as I kept her steady. Shit, imagine if I rolled the fucking thing? All that time and work suddenly gone to shit because of an accident. Hell, I w
ouldn’t have survived an accident going that fast so it wouldn’t have been my problem to deal with.
I slowed after that, just enjoying the open windows and the road. It wasn’t the same as my ride though. Two wheels gave so much more than four wheels.
Speaking of which…
I saw the two motorcycles coming up toward me.
I knew who they were.
Part of the Reaper’s Bastards. Crazy as it was, the guys running that club now were the ones I used to fight back in the day. Crossing territories for dumb towns, high school bullshit, and girls. Amazing the shit we used to do to get laid, right?
One of the motorcycles cut across the yellow line into my lane.
“What the fuck?” I asked.
I took my foot off the gas pedal for a few seconds.
But fuck that. I wasn’t going to back down from anyone.
I hit the pedal and kept my speed.
The motorcycle was in the middle of my lane, coming right at me.
The other motorcycle stayed in the correct lane.
I wasn’t sure if I was being set up or what. The Reap was a tough crew to deal with. Our former past hopefully didn’t mean much now in the present or for the future.
Then again, I had been the one who made a call to an old friend to ask a favor.
Fixing up cars was one thing. Selling remodeled cars for tons of cash was another. But I wanted some adventure in life. I wanted to find her and find out the truth of me and her. What we did. No matter how wrong it was.
I needed help to do that.
I needed protection.
I needed to be able to protect my girl if and when I got her back.
Before all that though, I needed to figure out who was going to win this game of chicken. Hell, if the biker hit me, he was going to get lit up and die. I’d get fucked up but I was in a car.
“Suck on that, asshole,” I said.
I gripped the steering wheel tighter and braced myself.
The distance was closing in between us.
And me or the motorcycle were not going to slow down.

*NOW*
“You’re as healthy as could be.”
My doctor gave me her hand and sat me up. My stomach was so round, I was in a constant state of discomfort. Not to mention the truth behind the baby.
I touched my stomach and forced a smile.
“Okay, let’s talk,” Dr. Mary said.
She insisted on being called Dr. Mary. She had short grey hair, thin glasses, and a perfect, white smile. She was open, honest, and blunt. She made it clear that she had two miscarriages and decided she never wanted to try again. Her husband left her for his secretary after getting her pregnant. She then went to school, became a doctor, and lived in a big ass house with a sexy as hell pool boy and a dog that was more loyal than her husband ever was.
“What?” I asked.
“That was a fake smile.”
“Oh.”
“Oh?”
“I’m just tired. And sore.”
“Of course you are. Your body has been taken hostage by another life. But there’s more to it.”
“You’re the expert,” I said. “You tell me.”
Dr. Mary put a hand to mine. “It’s okay to be scared as you get to the end. I’ve never met the father of this baby. And while it’s not my place to ask, I can get a vibe. If you end up with this little life on your own you’re going to be fine. It takes a warrior of a woman to carry a life inside her. But it takes a mother to raise that life. You’re both, Priya. I promise you. I’m going to be there when you have this baby.”
“Thank you,” I whispered.
“No need. They pay me a lot to do this. Come on, let me walk you out.”
Dr. Mary didn’t just take me to the desk, she took me to the door. We exited into the hallway and she took my hand.
“You’re going to be fine. Want to know how I know?”
“How?”
“My mother was a single mother. She had a one night whoops and that was me. So if she could do this, so can you. And you never know what you’re going to have or who you’re going to raise. Just be strong and be yourself. And be honest with yourself.”
Honest.
I nodded.
I felt like crying right there.
“Do you have a ride home?” she asked.
“Yes. A friend is waiting outside.”
“See you soon,” Dr. Mary said.
I left the office and waddled my way to the supped up sleek black car. I opened the passenger door and fought to get into the car. You think Damon would have gotten out of the car to help me, but why would he? A year ago he had a little accident when a bullet grazed his balls. No lie. Doctors made it very clear that without the proper equipment he’d never have kids. However, he was lucky because if it was just an inch or two higher he would have had his dick shot off.
So me being pregnant and he not being able to have kids really made it for an interesting situation.
“What the fuck took so long?” he growled at me.
“It’s a doctor’s office,” I said. “It takes time.”
“Were you sucking him off, too?”
“It’s a woman.”
“Great. Muff diving, huh? Eating the doctor’s carpet? Fucking whore.”
I touched my stomach. “Don’t talk like that.”
“Why? Because of the baby? Please.”
“Damon…”
“No,” he snapped. He pointed at me. “You listen to me. I’m doing this for one person and that’s my mother. I’ll take you to the appointments. You have that baby without me around. She thinks she has a miracle grandchild, Priya. She thinks God gave her extra time from the cancer to see her first grandchild. That’s all this is. The second that bitch dies, so do you and this baby.”
I saw the hate and anger in Damon’s eyes.
I wanted to defend myself but I was too damn tired. What happened may have been wrong, but that was only through his eyes. I knew what I felt and what I wanted. I was merely a toy to Damon. A piece of ass that served as a distraction when he was conducting business. His mother loved me because I had dark hair and was quiet. God bless her poor soul for the cancer, but she was as evil as the rest of their entire family.
“So you’re going to kill me,” I whispered.
“I didn’t say that. I’m just done with you. And then I’m going to find the prick that spilled his cum into you and I’m going to kill him. Trust me, Priya, I know who the fuck it is. I’m not an idiot.”
“Then just let me go right now,” I said. “We can fake this from anywhere you want. I’ll send you pictures of my belly. I’ll text you when I’m in labor. Whatever you want, Damon.”
“That’s what you fucking want?” he asked. “Then get the fuck out right now. Nobody needs you around anyway. Your job was to keep everyone looking and distracted. But nobody wants to see a fucking cow. Especially on my arm.”
“You’re a prick,” I said. “Greasy prick.”
Damon leaned back and lifted up his shirt. He showed me his gun. “Don’t fucking tempt me. Get the fuck out.”
I opened the door and wrestled my way out of the car. Before I could shut the door, Damon sped off.
I stood there alone, pregnant, touching my belly, nowhere to go. I had money in my bag and money in my bank account. I wasn’t poor but I sure as hell wasn’t safe. In that moment I thought about everything I said to Knight to chase him away. To force him away. Because I was scared of how I felt.
Now… I needed him more than ever.

*THEN*
It was a job. Simple as that. My life had become something of a game to see how many fucked up jobs I could get, hold for a little while, and then get booted from.
Behind the bar I made good money, fucked a lot of women, and lived something like a vampire’s life. That was where I met Damon. He was in the business of protection, whate
ver the fuck that meant. People told me he was part of the mob or some kind of crazy shit. I never believed it until I saw him show up at the bar with two guys. Those two guys took out two other guys while everyone watched and nobody did a thing about it. My boss simply walked by me and told me to get some towels to clean up the blood.
The two men Damon knocked off were put into tarps. Damon’s one guy kept throwing up from the sight of blood. Not me. So Damon asked me to help him. I carried the two bodies to his car and put them in the truck.
Damon shook my hand and said he’d be back to talk to me.
Two weeks later he showed up and told me he needed my help again. I made it clear I wasn’t a criminal. Which was kind of funny considering the way I used to run with the wrong crew. I was one of the few that didn’t end up in prison. Hell, I even had a chance to get in with the Reaper’s Bastards but I declined.
Dumb move, I know.
When Damon gave me a cool grand in cash, he officially had my attention. I heard from my boss that the owner might be selling the bar. I didn’t feel like going on the job hunt so I decided to meet up with Damon.
My job was simple.
Protect Priya.
There was some kind of heat coming down on his family. His mother just found out she had cancer. Things were in disarray and he needed my help. He paid in cash and I stayed under the radar.
It was kind of the perfect job for me.
Until I met Priya.
I stood outside the back of a nightclub on my first night. A car pulled up and came to a stop. I walked to the passenger door and opened it. That was the first time I saw her. She looked up at me and I felt my heart do something it hadn’t done in years.
I fucking felt something.
Why? Because it wasn’t the first time I met Priya.
