We excused ourselves from the men and went to the restroom together just like most girls do. We freshened up and started to walk out the door when my eyes met the green eyes of my past again.
“What the fuck are you doing here, Travis?”
“I came to talk to you,” he slurred and stumbled, falling back against the wall.
“Are you drunk?”
“No,” he said, dragging out the word.
“You weren’t invited. You need to leave,” I looked beside me and Becca was nowhere to be found.
“Look, just hear me out, Spencer.”
“Fine, talk. What is so important that you had to crash Ryan and Max’s wedding?”
“I heard what happened to you.”
“That’s none of your business,” I hissed.
“Spencer, I love you, of course it’s my business.”
“Right, you love me enough to fuck Misty on your desk. You’re pathetic. You know I’m with Brandon and I have no interest in getting back together with you,” I said crossing my arms over my chest.
“That’s why I came, Brandon is dangerous for you.”
“He has never done anything to me.”
“No, but his past almost got you killed––twice. This last time you were kidnapped,” he said, taking a step closer to me.
“That wasn’t Brandon’s fault,” I said, shaking my head.
“The hell it wasn’t. If you hadn’t ever met him, those things would have never happened.”
“If you would have never cheated on me, then I would have never met him,” I snapped at him, not able to contain my anger anymore.
“Babe, are you okay?” Brandon asked, coming around the corner with Jason.
“I’m fine. Travis was just leaving.”
“I’m not leaving without you,” he said, trying to grab my arm.
“Look dude, you need to get your fucking hands off her right now and leave,” Brandon said, pulling me to his side.
“That’s right, you can have my seconds,” Travis said, laughing.
“Fuck you!” I cried.
“That’s it, you need to leave before I physically remove you,” Brandon said.
I tried pulling Brandon back, but he was in Travis’ face and not budging. “Come on Babe, let’s go back to the table.”
“Go on, listen to your bitch,” Travis hissed.
Brandon’s arm flew out of my grasp. Before I knew what was going on, Brandon had tackled Travis to the floor. Brandon’s right arm flung back and then made contact with Travis’ face over and over. I stood there, not able to move. Jason came from behind me and pulled Brandon off Travis. Travis lay on the floor, groaning and covering his nose with his hands as blood seeped between his fingers.
“Come on man, let’s go outside,” Jason said to Brandon.
Becca grabbed my hand and led me back to our table as I watched Brandon and Jason go out to the balcony. We left Travis where he was groaning on the floor in pain. I couldn’t believe him; how the hell did he think I would ever get back together with him? He had some nerve coming to Ryan’s wedding.
“Are you okay?” Becca asked me, handing me a glass of water.
“Holy shit, this is vodka!” I said, choking on my drink.
“Haha, yeah. Did you think it was water?”
“Yes,” I said, chuckling and wiping the splatter from my mouth.
“I figured you needed something strong. So when I told Brandon and Jason that Travis was confronting you in the hallway, I went to the bar.”
“Thank you,” I murmured, taking another sip of the vodka before I stood up. “I’m going to go check on Brandon.”
Becca and I went outside to the balcony where Jason was trying to calm Brandon down. Brandon turned to me and with two quick strides was at my side, grabbing my face in both his hands and kissing me––hard.
“Are you okay?” Brandon asked, pulling away from my lips.
“Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that?”
“I’m fine; it’s you I’m worried about.”
“I’m fine. I can handle that douche bag. How is your hand?”
“It’s fine. I have to admit, I am finally glad I was able to punch the asshole.”
“Me too,” I said, smiling up at Brandon.
“Me fucking too!” Jason exclaimed from behind Brandon.
We all laughed and then stayed outside to gaze at the city skyline before heading back inside. Ryan and Max were still out on the dance floor, not having a clue as to what happened. I would have killed Travis myself if he had ruined Ryan’s wedding
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Ryan and Max left for their honeymoon the following day. To my knowledge, they didn’t know about the Travis incident and I wasn’t going to tell them until they were back from their Caribbean cruise.
My life was finally back to normal. Brandon started playing poker again on Wednesday nights and Niner kept me company until he made it home. We finally got the last of all our boxes unpacked and it was starting to sink in that this was home.
The Saturday following Ryan’s wedding, Brandon and I found a dog park for Niner to play at near our house. Niner got along great with the other dogs and letting him run around the park helped him release all his puppy energy. I was hoping the added exercise meant he would sleep through the night now. Having a puppy was like having a baby. I guess I was getting prepared even though Brandon and I never discussed having kids before.
*~*~*
Since the night of Ryan’s bachelorette party, Acyn and I had a secret around the office. My close friends at the office knew I was kidnapped, but no one knew that Acyn was there and had helped find me. The Monday I returned to the office, I took Acyn out to lunch and thanked him for everything he did. He didn’t want the office knowing he was a stripper and I was never going to tell anyone. He also confided in me that he hit it off with one of Ryan’s friends, Sandie, who he met at the party and they had plans to hang out soon. I was happy and relieved that we were strictly friends now.
*~*~*
Now that I was back into the routine of things, I drove myself to work just like every Wednesday. I tried to make dinner plans with Ryan and Becca, but they were both busy. I settled for just going home, taking Niner for a walk, and waiting for Brandon. I had a lot of Real Housewives to catch up on anyway and was just going to heat up some leftovers for dinner.
I drove my Bimmer into the two-car garage and as soon as I got out of the car, I sensed something was wrong. I would normally hear Niner barking at me, excited I was home, but this time I heard nothing. I started to panic a little. The last I heard, Michael and Colin were both denied bail and still in jail. Maybe Niner was just sleeping and didn’t hear me pull up?
I took a deep breath, clenched the Mace in my purse, and reached for the doorknob of the door that leads inside the house. I needed to stop living in fear. I could do this. I slowly opened the door, not hearing anything, but what I saw made me gasp.
There was a trail of candles in various heights that started just outside the garage door in the house. “Babe?” I called out. “Niner?”––Nothing. I followed the trail of flickering light around the corner and up the stairs to our bedroom. “Babe?” I called out again.
Brandon and Niner were both kneeling down, Brandon on one knee, Niner in a sitting position. “Hi,” Brandon said with his heart-stopping smile.
“Hi,” I said back, confused. I stood there, staring back at him, not able to move from just inside the doorway of the bedroom. My purse slid off my shoulder, down my arm and onto the floor.
“I remember the night I first saw you. I couldn’t take my eyes off you. I was watching you from my office; there was just something about you that drew me to you and from that moment on, I knew I wanted you in my life. You smiled at me and I just knew it. I knew I wanted you. I know we didn’t say a word to each other for several weeks and you know the reasons behind that, but I did everything I could to just be able to talk to you––to get to know you.
“Th
en, there was Vegas and I had never in my entire life been more turned on by someone dancing, than the way I was when I saw you out on the dance floor. You had me mesmerized and now, you’re my whole life––you’re my whole world and I never want to be without you. I know my past has put you in danger and I swear to God, I will do everything in my power to not let anything else happen to you.
“No one has ever affected me the way you do. I thought I knew what love was, but I didn’t have a clue until I met you. I thought I loved you on our first date, but each day my love for you grows stronger. My life would fall apart without you––I’m not even sure how I survived before you.
“You’re everything I’ve ever wanted, everything I’ve ever needed. I want to love you forever––I want to be with you forever––I want you to want me forever because you are all I have ever wanted. I love you with my whole heart and I want to grow old with you. So what I am trying to say is––Spencer Marshall, will you marry me?”
Brandon reached inside his shirt pocket and pulled out a black velvet box. He lifted the lid and a halo princess cut diamond ring glowed in the dim candle light. I wiped the tears that had fallen down my cheeks.
I looked from the ring, back up to Brandon’s glassy eyes. “Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Of course, yes,” I answered as Brandon stood. Niner barked in agreement as Brandon grabbed my face with both of his hands, the velvet box pressed into my cheek and he kissed me until I could no longer breathe.
He slid the ring on my left hand. “Come on, Niner, I need to speak with your mommy alone,” Brandon said to the dog, taking him by the collar and leading him out of the bedroom, then closing the door behind him. I raised an eyebrow at him. “You just made me the happiest man in the world and I am still not comfortable devouring your body in front of him.”
“Oh,” I said, laughing a little and then admiring the stone on my finger.
Brandon reached out, grabbed my left hand in his, and admired the ring as well. He released my hand and slowly started to pull my hot pink silk blouse with black lace shoulders up my torso. I raised my arms, allowing him to remove it completely.
“You’re gonna be my wife,” he said, staring into my eyes.
“And, you’re going to be my husband,” I said, stepping closer and started to unbutton his shirt.
He bent down and claimed my mouth again, our tongues twirling around as my body heat rose. Brandon made short work of the button of my slacks and slowly slid them down my legs. I stepped out of my heels, kicking them to the side, then stepped out of my slacks as he shrugged off his shirt that I had unbuttoned completely.
I unhooked my bra as Brandon unbuttoned his jeans. I watched as he slid them down with his boxers in one swift move. My panties were already damp with need. Need for my fiancé to be inside me. My Fiancé. I couldn’t believe that he had asked me to marry him and I had said “yes”.
Brandon stepped out of his jeans, stepping closer to me. Our bodies flush with one another. He tilted my chin up with his hand. “I love you, Spencer.”
“I love you, too,” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck, kissing him once more. His erection pressed against my belly, my panties only separating the skin on skin contact.
He hooked his thumbs inside my panties and pulled them down. I stepped out of them and walked backwards towards the king size bed, watching him as he threw the panties in the pile of clothes on the floor. The love of my life asked me to marry him and I said “yes”. The love of my life was the hottest man I knew and I felt like the luckiest girl alive and couldn’t believe this was happening.
I slid to the center of the bed, Brandon crawling on top of me as he ran his tongue up my belly to the side of my neck and then along my bottom lip. I spread my legs, allowing him to slide in between them. His hand ran up my leg to my center, rubbing my mound with the palm of his hand and then found my clit, causing my back to arch in response.
I hungrily kissed him as his thumb drew circles over my clit. Every touch he ran over my body was exactly what I needed. We were made for each other and he was all I had ever wanted.
Brandon reversed his trail with his tongue, making his way down my neck, over my belly and then stopping at my center. His tongue flicked my clit, my hands running through his brown finger-length hair as I moaned with pleasure.
“I’m going to enjoy tasting this for the rest of my life,” Brandon said, looking up at me with heat in his eyes.
“And I am going to enjoy you doing this for the rest of my life,” I said with a slight chuckle.
He returned to my clit, bringing me closer to my peak of pleasure. His tongue continuing to circle my clit then slid up and down my pussy––licking up all my juices. Finally, my body shattered around his tongue, my hands clenching the bed comforter as I moaned his name.
Brandon rose up from between my legs, kissing me with my juices around his mouth. He started to guide his shaft in between my legs. “Wait, a condom,” I said.
“You’re still on the pill, right?”
“Yes.”
“Good. I have been dying to be inside you with nothing on. Since you’re going to be my wife, I don’t see why we need them anymore.”
“Okay,” I said breathlessly. I had been dying for him to be inside me with nothing on, too and finally he trusted me.
He slowly guided himself into my slick folds. I couldn’t tell the difference, but I knew he could and that was all that mattered. I wanted to do nothing but pleasure him and now I was going to do it for the rest of my life.
“Fuck, this feels so good,” he groaned.
Once he filled me completely, he began to move his hips in and out. He took one of my breasts in his mouth, sucking the erect nipple and then biting it slightly. He had never bitten me before and it felt good—more than good. I reached around, cupping his ass in my hands as he continued to pump in me.
“Sorry Babe, but this feels so good, I’m not going to last long,” he said, looking into my eyes.
“It’s okay, you’ve already satisfied me.”
Brandon continued to pump, increasing his rhythm, and finally groaning at his release. Our bodies were slick with lust. He stayed inside me, leaning down and kissing me tenderly. We kissed for what seemed like forever. I couldn’t believe how my night turned out. So much for catching up on TV.
Brandon slowly withdrew from me. He handed me a tissue from the nightstand to clean up a little, but I needed more than that.
“Shower with me?”
“Okay, then let’s eat ‘cause that worked up an appetite.”
I started to make my way to the bathroom as Niner barked outside the door, reminding us that he was there. As I reached for the doorknob, the doorbell rang.
“Who the hell is that?” I asked Brandon.
“Beats me,” he said, pulling on his jeans. “I’ll go see, then join you in the shower.”
With one final kiss, he made his way down the stairs and I to the shower.

CHAPTER ONE
“When did I become this desperate?” Annie muttered to herself, shaking her head in disgust as she clicked on yet another ad in the personals section of Craigslist Los Angeles. She had already spent a good chunk of her lazy Saturday afternoon reading close to thirty postings in the Men Seeking Women category and was about ready to consider taking a vow of celibacy or maybe start batting for the other team.
