Belle of the Ball Page 20

She let her eyes wander from his face to the breadth of his shoulders. “So are you.”

“My Angel,” he said and touched his lips to hers.

It was an achingly tender kiss. She melted against him. His hands wandered over her skin and Anabelle did the same. He was larger than she had imagined, his shoulders broad and sculpted with muscle. Crisp hair sprinkled his chest all the way passed his navel. She summoned the courage to look beyond and held her breath. His member was long and thick, nestled in curling black hair. She looked up at him, but his eyes were trained on her breasts where his hands soothed and molded her skin. She closed her eyes again and gave herself to the sensations in her body.

He pulled her leg over his hip and Anabelle could feel the heat and rigidness of his manhood against her softness. She shivered.

“Tell me if I hurt you,” he said gruffly.

  She nodded.

His hand moved down her body, threading through the curls at her core and dipping into the soft folds of her sex. She moved against him, remembering the heaven he brought to her body once before. He did not disappoint her. His touch was delicate but sure. He teased the sensitive nub between her folds until she was slick with desire, and then he inserted one finger inside her. Her body bucked unexpectedly. This was different than before, more intimate, more invasive. He slowly moved inside her, teasing and stroking both inside of her and the sensitive nub.

She understood what he was doing and relaxed enough to move with him. Her pleasure increased and he inserted another finger.

This changed the game. Her body protested the addition with a painful twinge until he again, soothed her delicate flesh with slow even strokes. Her body relaxed and the pleasure intensified. She was panting now, aching for the relief she knew he could give her.

“I need you, Anabelle.” He took her lips in another kiss. It seared her to her soul. He was leaning over her now and he shifted until he covered her entire body. The weight of him was exciting. Her skin rejoiced being pressed flesh to flesh against his. He felt so warm against her. He pulled her knees wider and stole her breath by searching even deeper within her and increasing the tempo. It was almost too much to bear, but she kept her body in tune with his movements and knew that relief would come. Just when she thought she would breach the edge, he pulled his hand away and she whimpered.

“Soon, my love, but I will be inside you. We will be joined as man and wife, heart to heart, soul to soul.”

Anabelle opened her eyes. “Ethan, I don’t know how much more I can take. Please,” she begged.

“Anything, Anabelle. I will do anything for you.”

He nudged her softness with his erection, feeling the give of her womanhood. He released his breath and took in another to calm his racing heart. He nudged further. He did all he could to make her ready, to make it as good as possible for her. He couldn’t stop all the pain, though it killed him to know she would suffer some, but he knew he could make it better, he knew he could make her scream with pleasure.

“I love you, Anabelle.” He nudged in deeper, feeling her entrance stretch around him, her muscles tensing.

“I love you, Ethan,” she responded between panting breaths against his chest. She looked up at him.

He looked into her eyes, as blue as a clear sky, and marveled. He took her lips in a kiss. He pressed further, feeling her body resist and then give under his insistent thrust. She arched against him and gasped into his mouth, but he didn’t stop until he was fully seated. He broke the kiss to catch his breath and then took her lips again. He would now make her forget about any pain.

Anabelle gasped at the burning pressure. She felt impossibly full of him until he went no further. Her legs shook against his sides as he gently began to move. It burned every time he moved, but slowly, it faded into a mild sting and she began to experience other sensations. The press of his groin against her was one of them, and she focused on how good it felt. Next was the brush of his chest hair against her nipples. It tickled enticingly. She spread her hands over his back and held herself tightly to his chest. She let the kiss sweep her away and that helped her forget the uncomfortable sensation between her legs. When she did that, her body relaxed and all the sensations intensified pleasurably. She lifted her legs higher on his hips and suddenly, there was no pain. Each thrust drove her to the peak. Her entire body was alive with sensation and she could hardly breathe. He broke the kiss again and she took a much-needed breath. When she exhaled, a moan escaped her.

The tempo rose, and with it her pleasure increased. She couldn’t stop the pants and gasps that escaped her. There was no pain now. He moved easily inside her and she began to move her hips in time with his thrusts.

  “Yes, Anabelle.” He grunted.

She liked that he sounded just as overcome as she was. She pressed her lips against his hot skin and tasted his sweat. Her arousal increased. She was moaning now, each thrust pushing her closer to the peak. She knew what awaited her. She let herself go to the wild tempo and it rushed upon her. She cried out, her eyes closing tightly and her finger nails digging into his back as blissful sensations collided inside her leaving her breathless.

Ethan groaned loudly as he watched her climax beneath him. He felt every shiver and release of her body as she reached the heavens and it was enough to push him over the edge. He shuddered as he found his own release, his breath sawing in his chest, his eyes unable to stay open as he gave himself to the pleasure. Before collapsing into satiated exhaustion, he was careful to move to the side of her and not crush her with his weight. He pulled one side of the coverlet over them and then just breathed. He inhaled the scent of their lovemaking and relished the feel of her sated body beside him.

His. She was all his. From this moment on they would belong together, love together, and God willing, spend a good long life together.

He pulled her tightly against his side, the force of his climax and the very long day coming together in a profound exhaustion. He could already feel her body relaxed beside him, her breathing once again even. He wanted to kiss her one last time before they both succumbed to sleep. He rolled to lean over her. She looked up at him and smiled, her eyes blinking slowly, begging for sleep.

He touched his lips to hers. “This is only the beginning,” he whispered against her lips.

“Don’t ever let it end,” she whispered back and closed her eyes.

Ethan got up to blow out all the candles and returned to bed. He looked down at her and smiled as his heart filled with so much love, he felt it might burst. He finally had his moonlight angel right where he wanted her.

  Sneak Peek

  Just One Kiss

  * * *

Hazel watched Anabelle depart with a measure of sadness. Her sister was gone, not permanently of course, but they no longer lived together. They would no longer share a wall or a midnight talk when one of them had a bad dream. She pushed away from the doorway and slipped through the crowd to the stairs. She was suddenly feeling weepy, and she didn’t want anyone to see. On the first floor, she stepped behind a pillar and took a breath. She closed her eyes, tightly pinching them against the pressure of tears.

“Do you wish to be alone?” The voice startled her.

Her eyes popped open and she found a familiar face staring across from her from the alcove of a recessed window.

“Lord Bainbridge, I did not see you there.” She had that breathless feeling in her chest again. She always had it when she saw him.

“That was obvious. I should have made my presence known to you. My apologies.” He nodded politely.

“No apologies are necessary.” Hazel tried to sound casual.

“The view is lovely from here. One can see most of the drive. Your sister and her new husband are departing,” he informed her.

“I know, I just… I will miss her dearly and I needed a moment to compose myself.”

“That is understandable. I can see how it must be difficult to lose one’s sibling, even on such a happy
occasion as marriage.”

“Yes, but I shall prevail.” Hazel attempted to joke. “I know I will see her again soon. It’s just strange to be apart when we’ve never been apart. Change is scary.”

“Come see her. You will regret it if you don’t.” He waved her over.

Hazel stepped forward, but the window recess was not roomy and she would be standing very close to him.

“Come, Lady Hazel. I only have the best intentions.” He smiled.

Hazel was caught off guard by the effect of that smile. She stepped closer to him and turned to face the window. She could feel his nearness. With very little effort, she could lean back against him. It was so very tempting. She looked out the window as Draven and Anabelle were waving from the window of the carriage as it rolled down the drive.”

“Everyone fears change, Lady Hazel, but without it, there would be no butterflies,” he said behind her.

She stilled. She felt the words as if they were spoken against her skin. She turned and looked over her shoulder at him. She didn’t have anything to say, or rather, couldn’t form anything coherent enough worth saying. He smiled as he looked down at her. Then it faded and he looked very serious.

  “Just one kiss,” he said.

She didn’t dare move as his head slowly lowered and his lips touched hers. It was soft and inquiring, this kiss. There was no pressure, no demand. Just a question in the form of a kiss, but she didn’t know what the question was. He pulled back. She opened her eyes. He was looking down at her, his features still serious, yet softened.

“Thank you. I will leave you now.”

Flummoxed, Hazel nodded and he moved away. As silent as a cat, he disappeared down the stairs. She licked her lips. They felt entirely normal, but on the inside, she felt entirely different.

  About the Author

Dayna was only fourteen when she developed a serious addiction to romance novels. What began as an innocent desire to read became an all-out obsession with the romance genre. She gave book reports on romance novels, got in trouble for reading during lectures, and would rather spend her time reading than attending high school parties. After all, high school boys could not compete with the likes of Stephanie Laurens Devil Cynster. After getting her first job, her addiction only got worse. She now had her own money to spend and a car to get to Barnes and Noble as frequently as she wanted. She managed to maintain a somewhat normal life, marrying her high school boyfriend who was aware he was competing with fictional men for her attention. Dayna soon began writing her own romance novels, inspired by her love for all things romance. Dayna and her family live in Southern California with their two children and three fur babies. Dayna is happiest at home where she can be with her family and write to her hearts content.
