Fighting Temptation Page 10

“Yeah. No problem. I’ve wanted to walk around anyway.” I load up the tray of refills and head over to the corner. I see a few guys I recognize. One is that guy, Lucas, from the other night.

“All right guys. Who had the Mic Ultra?”

A guy raises his hand. “Okay, so the rest of you had Bud Light?”

They all nod. Lucas flashes a smile my way. “Hey, Daria, isn’t it?”

  “Yeah.”

“So what happened to the little cute girl that was waiting on us?”

“She had to take a break. So you are stuck with me for a little while.”

“Oh, I don’t mind. Actually, I’d like to be stuck in you.” I glare at him. “Well, in order for that to happen, you’d have to have a dick bigger than a toothpick. Also, I’m afraid my boyfriend would take issue with me doing anything with you.”

I storm off from the table. When I reach the bar, I look over to Lanie. “Let me guess which one was handsy. The little douche with a dimple on his cheek, a red polo shirt on, and a chip on his shoulder?”

“Yeah, how did you ever guess?”

“Well, when he told me he wanted to be ‘stuck in me,’ I figured.”

“Oh my God. What did you say back?”

“I referenced his dick and a tooth pick being the same size. Also that Cade might have a problem with it.”.”

She smiles. “So, how are things working out between you and the storage room sex god?” I laugh. “I can’t believe Jack told you about that. It sure wasn’t planned. Cade and I are working on things. I love him; he loves me. It’s just all the baggage I carry is a pain sometimes.”

“Sounds good. Trust me… that night, I looked at him, and I knew he was in love with you. I can see why you’d be in love with him, too. Well, if I went for guys, that is.”

“Lanie, just exactly what is your type?”

“Well, I think you’re pretty, but I can tell you’re straight. I’m a boob’s girl; what can I say? Plus, I don’t like girls who can’t decide if they are gay or straight. I mean, really. Pick a sex that you like and go with it.”

“That’s pretty blunt. Although I get what you’re saying. I can say a girl’s pretty but I just can’t go there. I like dick too much.”

She bursts out laughing. “That’s funny, because I think dicks are repulsive. It’s like God said, this is the leftover human crap I have. I guess I’ll give it to the man. And don’t even get me started on balls.”

We are both laughing when Mack walks up. “Hey, the table over there is trying to get your attention.”

I look across the room. “Guess I’m taking another round to Douchebag Central.”

“Do you want me to take a turn?”

  “Nah, I got this.”

I walk over to the table. “Can I help you guys?” One of the guys looks up. “Yeah, another round. Except… what do you want, sweetheart?”

Carrie is sitting on one of the guy’s laps. Poor guy. He’s a freshman. I can tell he’s just desperate to get laid.

She looks at me and seethes. “I’ll have whatever these guys are having.” I bring back their round of beer. Lucas looks at me. “You sure I can’t talk you into coming home with me tonight?”

“I’m not just sure. I’m positive.” With that, I spin on my heel and tell Lanie I’m taking a break. I walk back to the bathroom to catch my breath. It’s been so busy I haven’t even had time to take a pee break. After I finish peeing I stand at the counter for a minute washing my hands and resting against the counter. I open the bathroom door and find Lucas leaning on the opposite wall. I turn to walk past him and he grabs my elbow.

“Why are you always such a bitch? I’ve only met you a couple of times and every time you are a bitch to me.”

“I just don’t like your attitude. You act like women should just fall at your feet.” I snatch my elbow away. “Guess what I’m not going to fall at your feet and I don’t like people with that attitude. So I don’t like you.”

“You think just because you date another one of the players I should be afraid? I’m not.” “Well, that just goes to show the lack of respect you have for your team. But as to why you should be afraid, trust me, you don’t want to find out the answer to that question.”

“Don’t get a fucking attitude with me.”

“Get out of my way so I can get back to work.” He grabs me and tries to push me to the wall. I knee him in the nuts and then punch him in the throat. “Ouch, you bitch. You’re gonna pay for that.”

“Unless you wanna meet my fist again, I suggest you leave me alone. I don’t need Cade to fight my battles, but believe me when I say he will if he has to.”

I walk off, leaving him gasping and leaning against the wall.

Once I get back to the bar, I tell Lanie what happened. She calls Mack over.

“Daria, I can’t believe you punched the guy.”

“Mack, that asshole was manhandling me, not to mention calling me a bitch.”

“Well, you can’t do that. He could sue the bar, press charges against you.”

“Fuck, would you have preferred I just let him grope me? Look, he’s not going to sue, so just shut up.”

  “Don’t hit anymore customers.”

“That is the first customer I’ve lost it with at all so don’t give me that shit.” “Well I’m sure he thinks you’re easy since you fucked in our storage closet the other night and he’s just trying to get in on the action.” As soon as the words leave his mouth you can tell he somewhat regrets it, but part of him doesn’t. I’ve kinda thought for a long time that Mack had a thing for me. I think he’s pissed now that Cade and I are – well whatever Cade and I are.

I slam my hand down on the bar. “You know what? I don’t need this fucking job. I damn sure don’t need you condoning some asshole’s drunken behavior. I quit.” Slamming my apron down on the counter, I throw up my hands and grab my bag.

Lanie looks over at me. “You know what? Screw you, Mack. I quit, too.”

Out in the parking lot, I look at Lanie. “Girl, you did not have to quit because of me.” “Yes, I did. I was this close to punching Mack for talking to you that way. I’ll be fine for a bit. I have some savings and I’ll find something soon. Look Dar, don’t be a stranger. Call me.”

I nod, getting into my car and say goodbye.

As soon as I’m in the car, I see that I have a text from an unknown number.

You and Cade should meet me for lunch Friday.

  I text back.

Where do you want to meet?

Slickers Deli. Okay. See you around noon? Yes.

  Chapter 20

  Cade

Sitting on Daria’s couch having a beer thinking about the meeting with her dad, just thinking about him irritates me. I think about everything he’s done to people and caused to happen to innocent people. I’m just glad I’m finally calming down, especially since he didn’t want her to know we met. I feel guilty about keeping it from her. Even though, hell, our entire meeting only lasted all of ten minutes. That’s fine with me. The faster he gets away from her the safer, she will be.

God, I’m ready for her to be home. I miss her like crazy when she’s gone. I’ve finally gotten her back and I really don’t want her out of my sight.

I hear a code being punched on the front door. She walks in. “Hey baby.” I stand up and walk over to her . “What are you doing home so early? I expected you around ten or eleven.”

“I am no longer employed at Chandler’s. I quit.”

“What happened?” “ That little dickhead Lucas, that’s on the team. He said some pretty assface comments to me in the hallway. He wouldn’t let go of my elbow so I kneed him in the crotch and punched him in the throat. Then Mack and I got into it about me hitting a customer. He said a couple of inappropriate things, so I quit. Then Lanie quit right behind me, so I’m sure Mack is having a great night now.”

“What were these inappropriate things that they said?”

  “Not tonight, C
ade. I just want a shower and to curl up beside you on the couch.”

I nod. “Okay. I’ll let it go for now, but only if I get to shower with you.”

She lays her head on my chest. “I thought you’d never ask.” Later we sit on her couch, snuggled up watching TV. I’m pissed and I plan to have a talk with Lucas tomorrow. She finally told me what happened tonight and that little asshole from the bar will be lucky if I don’t stop there, too. I know what happened in the storage room was not appropriate, but that doesn’t give people a pass to treat her like shit.

“Hey, my dad wants to have lunch with us on Friday. Is that okay with you?”

“Yeah, isn’t your appointment on Friday?”

“It’s at two-thirty so we can eat and then go.”

“Okay, sounds good.” She stands up from the couch. When she bends over to pick something up, my t-shirt that she’s wearing rides up. She’s wearing those little lacy boy short panties. Damn, my cock just tented my boxers. I reach out and quickly slide her panties to the side, pushing my finger inside her folds.

“Oh. Cade, warn a girl next time.”

“Well if I’d warned you, I wouldn’t get that little gush of fluid.” I stick my finger in my mouth. She spins around and throws her arms around me.

  “Bedroom, now,” she pants.

I pick her up. “As you wish.” Once we’re in the bedroom, I take no time dropping my boxers and putting on a condom. I bend her over the foot of her bed and run my finger over her already soaked heat. I barely snatch her panties down before I slam into her. Daria has always liked it a little rough. “Fuck, baby, you feel so good around me.”

“Damn, I needed you after my day. Aw, shit, just like that.” I feel her squeezing me. “Damn, my greedy girl. Fuck. If you keep doing that, this isn’t going to last long.” I keep pounding into her. Our bodies slapping against each other. I reach down and press her clit.

I feel her clamp down on me. “Baby I’m telling you if you keep that up I’m not gonna last much longer.” . “Didn’t say I wanted it to last long. You know I like a good, quick, dirty fuck.” As soon as the words roll out of her mouth, I know I’m about to lose it. I reach back around and grab her nipples, squeezing until she is coming all around my dick. All at once, I explode. I pull out.

“Fuck, babe, you are going to give me a heart attack talking like that.” I pull the condom off. “I do have to say, though, I’ve become a little spoiled and I’ll be glad when we don’t have to use these.”

“I know. I hate that feeling, but look at it like this. We’ll know Friday if we don’t need to use them anymore or if we need to use them for one more month.”

“Yeah, well I’m ready for bed. How about you?” She smiles. “Yeah, me, too. It’s been a long day. I know you have practice tomorrow morning. Then we have Marshall duty tomorrow night.”

. “Hard to believe he’s already almost three weeks old. Plus I’m still getting used to the fact that my best friend is a mom. The next thing I know, she’ll tell me I can’t drink milk from the carton anymore.”

She turns to me. “Seriously? You still try to sneak drinking milk from the carton?”

“Well, if I just want a sip.”

“Don’t drink from my carton, Cade. I’ll kick your ass.” I walk to the living room and shut off her lights. When I come back into her bedroom, she’s already curled up in her bed. I climb in and snuggle up to her, pulling her on my chest. “Goodnight, baby.”

  “Mmm, goodnight.”

~*~*~ I had to get up this morning before her, so I let her sleep in. She looks so peaceful sleeping. I’m just glad she’s finally sleeping and eating. I see her boobs are mostly back, along with some of her ass. I gotta get out of this room before I say screw practice and stay in bed with her all day.

Making the drive to the practice field, I think about the shit Lucas said to her last night. I’m gonna have a talk with his ass today. Also I gotta have a talk with that new freshman who was there last night about Carrie. He needs to stay the fuck away from that psycho bitch. She’s just a STD or paternity test waiting to happen. She’s pretty much made it known that she’s searching for someone to be her paycheck. She just wants to marry someone with money or that will have money and after what she did to some guys on the team last year. I wouldn’t put it past her to trap someone.

I walk into our locker room and the first face I see is Lucas’s. I might as well go ahead and get this over with.

  “Lucas.”

He looks at me and gives me this cock-sided grin. “Yeah?” “Look, man, I know you just transferred here. Daria is my girlfriend and she told me about what you said last night. She also told me that you put your hands on her, so I’ll explain this once. Don’t do it again. I don’t want to cause problems, because we’re on the same team, but I will beat your ass if you so much as breathe in her direction again. Do we have an understanding?”

“I understand that your girlfriend was coming on to me all night and said something about you having a small dick that couldn’t satisfy her.”

I feel like my body is on fire. I spin around and, before I think about what I’m doing, I have him pinned to the wall. Some of the guys break us up. Coach comes in and yells at me. “Cade, what in the hell is going on here?”

Lucas goes to speak, but Coach shushes him. “I’ll talk to you in a minute.”

I explain to Coach what happened. He shakes his head. “Look, Coach, I’m sorry and I tried to just make my point known and walk away. But I’m not going to stand here while he says things about her.”

Lucas speaks up. “I was just warning the guy, Coach. That chick he’s with… well, she’s a real-”

Coach cuts him off. “Look, I told you I would talk with you in a minute. Until then, shut up.”

Lucas jumps up from the bench he’d sat on. “What the fuck kinda system are you running here?” “That’s it, kid. You were on thin ice when you came here. After the shit that happened over at UGA, you are lucky I even gave you a chance. Clean out your locker and get the hell out of my locker room.”

We all just stand there as Lucas grabs his crap from his locker and storms out.

Coach looks around. “Now, can we get to practice, ladies?”

I walk out next to the new freshman. “Hey man, I heard you were at Chandler’s last night, too?”

He nods. “Yeah, I didn’t say anything to your girl, though. She was really nice to us.” “Here’s a little advice. Stay away from that girl Carrie. She’s about as much fun as a box full of snakes, and the snakes aren’t nearly as crazy as her.”

“Yeah, she seemed kinda clingy, but I was just looking for a good time.”

“Well, if you did anything, I hope you wrapped your shit up. If you didn’t, then don’t.”

He nods. “Good to know.” “Hey man, I’m just looking out for my team. That shit with Lucas I wanted to avoid, but he decided to try and trash my girl. I will not tolerate that. I wasn’t really worried about her defending herself last night, because I’ve watched her take men down. But I will not let someone disrespect her.”

He nods that he understands and we head out to practice.

  Chapter 21

  Daria

When Cade came back earlier today and told me what that shithead Lucas said, I was ready to go kick his ass again. Then he told me about the coach kicking him off. So, I guess I got some justice. At least I don’t have to watch him play ball or hang with him at team events.

The timer goes off on my oven letting me know the lasagna is done. I take it out of the oven and, after I set it on the stove, I feel arms around my waist.

  “Mmm, something smells great.”

“I know. I love the smell of fresh Italian.”

“I wasn’t talking about the lasagna.”

“Don’t start; we’re supposed to be over at Gabby’s in less than an hour.”

“Then I better leave you to it. If I stay in here much longer, we are going to be”

  “Just g
o. You perv.” He finally leaves me alone to get everything together so we can leave. On the car ride over we joke and laugh. It feels so natural He fills me in on how the team is shaping up for the year.

Once we make it to Gabby’s, she opens the door. I can tell she’s exhausted.

  “Hey, girl.”

  “I come bearing food.”

  “Oh, God, thank you.”

Cade kisses her on the cheek. “Where are the guys?”

“Linc is in the shower and Marshall is in his swing.”

I smile. “Does he like the swing?”

  “Yeah, pretty much.”

“Has he been sleeping better since the other night?”

“Yeah, we figured out it was his formula hurting his stomach. We just had to give him some gas drops.”

Cade laughs. “Linc’s kid having trouble with gas. Never thought I’d see the day.”

“Shut up, ass face,” Linc says, walking into the room.

I chuckle and shake my head. “Let’s go eat while the baby is in the swing.” Gabby smiles. “Sounds so good. Also, Anna told me we are having a spa day Saturday while the guys watch football films and hang out with Marshall.”

“Yes we are. Cade and Russ felt like they needed some male bonding time with your husband. Plus, I don’t know if they are planning some initiation to the group for Marshall or if he’s just grand fathered in.”

Cade walks up beh ind me. “No one gets grandfathered in. I don’t care how little you are or who your daddy is.”

I shake my head. “Whatever; let’s go feed these people.” Once we start eating, Marshall decides he’s had enough of his swing. Gabby goes to get up and I put out my hand.

“I’ll get him. You eat. You need energy for later tonight.”

“Thank you so much for dinner and helping with him.”

Walking into the living room, I pick Marshall up out of his swing.

“Hey, little man, what’s wrong?” I check his diaper. “Oh no, we have to get you some dry drawers.”

I walk him back to his room and start changing him. He looks at me like, where is my mommy? I rub his cheek. “It’s okay. I’m your Aunt Daria and your Uncle Cade… well, he still pee-pees in his pants from time to time, too.”
