But a part of him had needed it too. He'd needed to know he was more than the man selected for her by another. He'd needed to know, whatever the circumstance were, she would have chosen him to love.

He pulled her to him and breathed in the scent of moonflowers and spice. All at once, he wasn't nervous any more. “I love you, A Ghra..."

  "I love you too."

Stepping away from her, he lifted her chin so she was looking at him. “As we stand here before the beauty of heaven, I find that it pales beside you."

  "Gallegar..."

"Shhh...” The vampire touched a finger to her lips. “You are what I have searched for my whole life. When I first saw you, I knew you were the one for me, but it was only when I spent time with you I realized why I could never be whole without you."

A single tear traced its way down her cheek and he brushed it away. “I find it is not enough to see you each night, or even sleep with you during the day. It is not enough to wake beside you each evening."

A frown marred Kira's beautiful brow. “I do not understand."

He smiled. “I didn't either ... at first. But now I do. I understand why it isn't enough to make love to you each and every day, or kiss you awake with each sunset.” He pulled a velvet box from his pocket and her eyes widened.

"A Ghra ... When we were joined ... we spoke our hearts to each other. Do you remember?"

She lifted tear filled eyes to his. “Yes."

"Together in eternity forever ... wasn't that the promise?"

  "Yes, Mo Chridhe..."

Gallegar swallowed and his own eyes glistened. “Then that is what I am asking. I ask you to make that pledge truth. Be my true mate.” He opened the box. “Marry me."

Kira blinked back tears as she looked down. The box held an engagement ring. A small, brilliantly colored moonstone, surrounded by tiny emeralds and diamonds.

  "Oh ... It is beautiful."

He took her left hand in his then lifted the ring from the box. He kept his green eyes steady on hers and waited.

She smiled and the joy of it filled the room. “Oh, yes ... Gallegar. It could only be yes."

Blowing out his breath in relief, he slid the ring on her finger. They barely heard the applause from the others in the room as he swept her into his arms. “Together in eternity ... forever, A Ghra..."

"Forever...” Kira managed before his lips came down on hers in a kiss that showed her once and for all the promise of true love was forever.

And together they would always be ... one soul throughout eternity.
